Abstract

Emotional intelligence is one of the keys to success in Hajj worship. Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage emotions to improve the quality of one's own life and relate to others. Training is needed to give the candidate Hajj Jamaah an understanding of the importance of emotional intelligence. The research is aimed at improving the emotional intelligence of Hajj candidates. One hundred candidates from the city of Makassar who are 20 years of age and older are involved in this study. It consists of over 50 subjects as control and 50 as experimental groups. Emotional intelligence is measured by the Emotional Intelligence Test Scale (EIT). Psychological training focuses on developing self-awareness, self-control, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills. The study uses an experimental approach (pretest post-test control group design), with statistical analysis techniques T-Test Between two independent sample means. The research results indicate that the psychological training of Hajj effectively improves the emotional intelligence of the candidate Hajj Jamaah. Psychological training can help a candidate Jamaah Haji to become a more calm, patient, and empathic Jamaah. This is important because the Hajj Jamaah will face various challenges during Hajj worship, both physical and mental

Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of shyness to student engagement in university students. The respondents in this study were active students from 9 faculties at Makassar State University with a total of 456 people. The measuring instrument used in this study is a student engagement and shyness scales. The data in this study were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis techniques. The results of the data analysis showed a significant value of 0.000, meaning that there is a contribution of shyness to student engagement in UNM students. The r value was -0.430, indicating that shyness has a negative contribution to student engagement with a moderate correlation strength category, and the R Square value was 0.185, meaning that shyness has a contribution of 18.5% to student engagement. The implication of this study is that it can contribute to the development of science related to shyness and student engagement, and can be used as a guide for students and educators in reducing shyness and increasing student engagement.

Abstract

Abstrak Visi Indonesia Sehat Tahun 2016 yaitu mewujudkan bangsa Indonesia hidup dalam lingkungan sehat, penduduknya berperilaku hidup bersih dan sehat yang tidak lepas dari dukungan sosial dan kontrol diri. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dukungan sosial dan kontrol diri terhadap perilaku sehat siswa. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa dan siswi di Kota Makassar sebanyak 400 subjek dari 6 sekolah yang terpilih secara kluster. Untuk menentukan jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan rumus Isaac dan Michael. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik probability sampling dengan pengambilan anggota sampel dengan proporsional random sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah skala perilaku sehat, skala dukungan sosial, dan skala kontrol diri. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam uji hipotesis penelitian ini adalah uji analisis regresi sederhana dan uji analisis regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Dukungan sosial berpengaruh positif terhadap perilaku sehat siswa (r = 0,176, p = 0,001). Kontrol diri berpengaruh positif terhadap perilaku sehat siswa (r = 0,307, p = 0,001). dukungan sosial dan kontrol diri berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perilaku sehat, dengan nilai kontribusi sebesar 3,22% (R = 0,322). Berdasarkan hal tersebut, maka dengan tingginya dukungan sosial dan kontrol diri yang tepat maka semakin meningkatkan perilaku sehat siswa di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between social support from parents, teachers, and peers with shyness among high school students in Makassar. Shyness is a state of discomfort in social situations that leads individuals to withdraw from interaction. A total of 375 students participated in this study, selected through multistage non-random sampling techniques. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of the Child and Adolescent Social Support Scale (CASS) and a shyness scale. The results of the correlation analysis indicate a significant negative relationship between social support from parents, teachers, and peers and shyness. Among these, peer support has the greatest influence in reducing shyness in students. The findings of this study highlight the importance of social support, particularly from peers, in lowering levels of shyness and enhancing students' social interactions.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara school-related social support dan flow akademik pada siswa SMA. School-related social support mencakup dukungan dari guru, teman sekelas, dan lingkungan sekolah yang berperan penting dalam pengalaman akademik siswa. Flow akademik adalah kondisi psikologis di mana individu terlibat penuh dalam aktivitas akademik, ditandai oleh konsentrasi, motivasi intrinsik, dan kepuasan. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, penelitian ini melibatkan analisis korelasi untuk mengukur hubungan antara kedua variabel tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara school-related social support dan flow akademik dengan nilai korelasi r = 0,333 dan p = 0,001. Selain itu, diperoleh nilai R² sebesar 0,111, yang berarti school-related social support menjelaskan 11,1% variasi pada flow akademik. Temuan ini sejalan dengan penelitian sebelumnya yang menekankan pentingnya dukungan sosial dari guru dan teman sebaya dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan dan kesejahteraan akademik siswa. Penelitian ini menyoroti perlunya menciptakan lingkungan sekolah yang mendukung untuk memfasilitasi flow akademik siswa. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian selanjutnya adalah memperluas populasi dan mengeksplorasi faktor lain yang mungkin berkontribusi terhadap flow akademik. Kata Kunci: Academic Flow, School-related Social Support, High School Students

Abstract

Inisiatif adalah salah satu aspek yang dibutuhkan oleh para mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan diri. Namun, inisiatif perlu dibarengi dengan perilaku yang disengaja guna pertumbuhan diri dapat tercapai. Personal growth initiative (PGI) adalah keterlibatan aktif dan disengaja yang dilakukan individu guna mencapai sebuah pertumbuhan diri. Adanya personal growth initiative pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir, dapat membantu dalam usaha mengembangkan diri agar tugas akhir dapat segera diselesaikan. Salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi personal growth initiative yaitu self-efficacy. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan self-efficacy dengan personal growth initiative pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Negeri Makassar yang sedang dalam tahap pengerjaan proposal dan skripsi sebagai upaya untuk dapat menyelesaikan pendidikan tingginya. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah accidental sampling dengan subjek penelitian berjumlah 219 mahasiswa. Skala yang digunakan adalah Personal Growth Initiative Scale-II dan General Self-efficacy Scale-2. Hasil analisis korelasi Spearman Rho menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan self-efficacy dengan personal growth initiative dengan nilai signifikansi (r = 0,0563; p = 0,000). Self-efficacy memberikan sumbangsih 31,6% terhadap personal growth initiative. Implikasi dari penelitian ini yaitu memberikan gambaran self-efficacy dan personal growth initiative pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir yang sedang mengerjakan tugas akhir.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi peran school well being (SWB) sebagai mediator pengaruh rasa syukur terhadap motivasi belajar siswa dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Studi ini melibatkan siswa SMA Negeri di Kabupaten Polewali Mandar sebagai peserta dengan jumlah 380 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam studi ini yaitu alat ukur School Well Being untuk mengukur School Well Being skala rasa syukur untuk mengukur rasa syukur, dan skala motivasi belajar untuk mengukur motivasi belajar. Setelah data dikumpulkan, analisis dilakukan dengan berbasis uji SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) untuk mengetahui hubungan antar variabel dalam konteks riset ini, menguji kecocokan model dan mengeidentifikasi pengaruh langsung dan tidak langsung pada model yang dibantu dengan Sobel test untuk melihat efek mediasi variabel school well being. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, rasa syukur memiliki langsung secara positif yang signifikan bagi motivasi belajar dengan angka 24,7%; rasa syukur memiliki pengaruh langsung, positif serta signifikan terhadap school well being  (64,1%); school well being teridentikasi memiliki pengaruh langsung, positif serta signifikan bagi motivasi belajar (17%); dan school well being teridentifikasi dapat menjadi mediator bagi pengaruh rasa syukur terhadap motivasi belajar secara tidak langsung dengan angka 10,9%.

Abstract

Classical music by Mozart is known to stimulate brain waves that support the enhancement of short-term memory. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of listening to Mozart’s classical music in improving short-term memory in university students. This research employed an experimental method with a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Using purposive sampling, the study involved 20 students from Universitas Negeri Makassar. Participants were divided into two groups: 10 students in the experimental group who listened to Mozart’s classical music while performing a task involving memorizing nonsense syllables, and 10 students in the control group who completed the same task without music. The results showed that the average short-term memory score in the experimental group increased from 9.10 in the pretest to 12.20 in the posttest, with an average gain of 3.10. In the control group, the average score increased from 8.90 to 10.00, with a gain of 1.10. An independent samples t-test indicated a significant difference in posttest scores between the experimental and control groups, with a p-value of 0.007 (p 0.05).

Abstract

This research is based on the impact of giving gadgets on the social behavior of early childhood. This is proven by the existence of students at the Aisyiyah Maccini Tengah Kindergarten in Makassar City who are often given gadgets by their parents. The aim of this research is to determine the impact of giving parents gadgets on the social behavior of young children. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method. This research was carried out at the Aisyiyah Maccini Tengah Kindergarten, Makassar City, with the objects of this research being 2 children and their parents as well as the teacher/class teacher. Data collection for this research is observation, interviews, documentation and recording. Validity test uses source triangulation techniques. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation and conclusions or verification. The results of this research show that there are negative and positive impacts of gadgets on the social behavior of young children. Such as applications that are often opened by children, namely YouTube, TikTok and games. This use has a positive impact on gaining extensive knowledge, facilitating communication and training children's creativity. Apart from that, it has negative impacts, including eyes becoming tired easily, reduced sleep and study hours and emotional disturbances in children. Children's social behavior still shows good, respect for others, mutual help, good manners, but children are less sensitive and caring towards the people around them.

Abstract

This research focuses on the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-control in students at SMAN M Makassar. The problem raised in this research is the low level of self control among teenagers, which can have a negative impact on their behavior and academic achievement. Emotional intelligence, which includes the ability to recognize, understand and manage emotions, is expected to contribute to increasing students' self-control. Therefore, this research aims to find out whether there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and self-control in students. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The research respondents consisted of 311 class XI students at SMAN M Makassar, who were chosen randomly. Data was collected through questionnaires measuring emotional intelligence and self-control, which have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS 27 program to test the proposed hypothesis. The research results show that there is a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and self-control in students, with a significance value of less than 0.05. The average student emotional intelligence score is 42 with a standard deviation of 9.333, while the average self-control score is 27 with a standard deviation of 6. These findings indicate that students with a higher level of emotional intelligence tend to have better self control.The implication of this research is to provide an overview of emotional intelegence and self control.
