Abstract

Management of religious guidance in shaping the character of prisoners is a renewal, refinement or effort of action or activity carried out in an integrated, efficient and effective manner to obtain better results. If this guidance activity is carried out on prisoners, then religious guidance will give meaning to the prisoner to be faithful, knowledgeable and have a noble character in life and life. The process of forming good characters must be in accordance with the basis for the formation of good characters itself, namely the Al-Qur'an and the life and life examples of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Al-Qur'an is the Word of Allah SWT in which it provides guidance for humans in various aspects, one of which is about guidelines for behavior so that humans can distinguish between good and bad.

Abstract

The ability to use a language to convey ideas, feelings and thoughts orally is called speaking. This shows that speaking skills are crucial to learn, including for students at school. In this way, teachers are expected to be more innovative in finding learning methods or models that can improve students’ speaking skills. The small group discussion learning model is considered to be the right treatment because it can increase students’ confidence in speaking, increase interaction between students, and students become more active in contributing to learning. The aim of carrying out this research is to find out how the application of the Small Group Discussion learning model to students affects their speaking skills, especially in conveying opinions orally in English. This research used a quantitative approach with experimental research method. This research was carried out at MA Plus Darul Hufadz Jatinangor. Participants in this research were students from classes X-A and X-B, each class consisting of 20 students. Data was collected using tests in the form of presentations from students. The results show that implementing the Small Group Discussion can have a significant influence on students’ ability to convey opinions orally using English. This is proven by the average (mean) score of the experimental class learning results reaching 74,20, while the mean score of the control class only reached 65,00. It can be concluded, that the Small Group Discussion can have a positive impact on the learning process and student learning outcomes, especially in language skills. By implementing Small Group Discussion, students are seen interacting with each other more often, they show a positive response to the application of this learning model in their learning activities.

This research used a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group design. The data were collected from forty-three students from the experimental and control groups through observation, tests including pre-test and post-test, and treatment through feedback responses and PCF form for the experimental class. The data were analyzed by using a paired sample t-test to compare the writing skills in each of the two classes, and an independent sample t-test to determine the influence of peer corrective feedback on students’ writing skills. The paired sample t-test indicated a significant difference in writing skills between both classes. The independent sample t-test showed that peer corrective feedback positively influenced students' writing, helping with the correction and revision process, as a result, it is improving their hortatory exposition writing skills. It also enhanced their learning experience and motivation in the classroom as it was supported by more interactive and communicative learning through a collaborative learning environment.

Abstract

Effective school leadership shapes teachers’ work ethics and overall performance. In the context of MTs Darul Hikam Bandung, understanding how principal leadership influences teacher motivation and commitment is essential. Although transformational leadership has been recognized for fostering a positive school climate, challenges such as declining teacher engagement and productivity persist. This study explores the principal’s leadership strategies for improving teachers’ work ethics and enhancing their commitment to teaching. It examines the impact of transformational leadership on teacher motivation and job satisfaction. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with principals, teachers, administrative staff, and classroom observations. Thematic analysis was applied to identify leadership practices and their effects on teacher motivation and professional commitment. The findings revealed that the principal adopted a transformational leadership style, emphasizing role modelling, effective communication, and continuous professional development. Teachers reported increased motivation and a greater sense of value due to the principal’s support and responsiveness. Key strategies included regular training sessions, collaborative decision-making, and fostering a supportive work environment to help teachers overcome instructional challenges. The results demonstrated that transformational leadership positively influenced teachers’ commitment and job satisfaction. Transformational leadership significantly enhances teachers’ work ethics by fostering interpersonal relationships, promoting professional development, and ensuring clear communication. This study provides valuable insights for educational stakeholders to strengthen teacher engagement and improve school effectiveness. Further research is recommended to validate these findings in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implications of the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation No. 19 of 2020 on improving the competency of madrasah teachers, with a case study at MTsN 1 Bandung. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the planning process was well- structured but lacked comprehensive involvement from all school components. Organizational efforts were evident, yet coordination challenges remained. Implementation of the regulation highlighted the active managerial role of the principal but faced obstacles in vision alignment and teacher motivation. Supervision was evaluative rather than formative, occurring only once per year, limiting feedback opportunities for teachers. This study concludes that continuous professional development, improved supervision frequency, and inclusive planning are necessary to optimize policy implementation. These findings contribute to enhancing religious education quality in Indonesia. Keywords: Teacher competency, policy analysis, madrasah education, qualitative research, education management.

Abstract

English communication skills are one of the 21st century educational skills demand to face the technological and industrial era. The previous studies have examined the influence of Turn-Taking Strategy (TTS) on speaking skill in the classroom, but no one has examined its influence on the issue of student engagement which is always being discussed recently. Hence, this study addresses the gap by investigating the effect of TTS through speaking skills and student engagement in EFL classroom. A total of 30 tenth grade students at SMK TPI Al-Ghoniyyah are divided into experimental and control groups using a non-random sampling approach with purposive sampling technique. This study used a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent (pretest and post-test) control group design. The researcher used observation sheet, speaking tests and documentation to collect the data and parametric statistical analysis which consists of testing requirements and hypotheses to analyse the data. The findings indicated that TTS positively influence students' speaking skills and engagement with a significance value of 0.00 ≤ 0.05. The mean difference values of experimental and control group were 3.20 and 18.20 higher than 1.00 and 3.07 showed the impact of TTS in fostering EFL student’s self-confidence, developing interactional competence, and overcoming engagement problems. The formation of positive characters and personality types of EFL student was revealed indirectly in this study.
