Abstract

Speaking is one of the 4 aspects of English. However, not a few students experience difficulties in speaking English because they often make mistakes in pronouncing vocabulary. And a teacher is always required to be able to develop learning methods to improve students' speaking skills at school. The purpose of this study is to find out how to implement project based learning to improve students speaking skills by making descriptive videos about historical buildings and how students respond to the use of project based learning in class. This study uses qualitative research methods with an action research approach. The instruments used by researchers are observations, field notes, and interviews. Participants in this study were 20 students of class X IPA 2 SMA PGRI 2 Bandung. Research data in cycle 1 shows that the average score of students' English speaking ability is 71.5 with a maximum score of 80, and data in cycle 2 shows that there is an increase in students' ability as evidenced by the increase in students' average score to 85 with a maximum score of 95 This data is also supported by student responses which say that students like learning activities using project based learning because students are given more opportunities to practice their speaking skills. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of project based learning in producing descriptive videos about historical buildings can improve students' speaking skills and can be used efficiently in class.

Abstract

English is an international language currently used in various ways, including communication. Therefore, English needs to be developed from an early age to improve the ability to interact orally by giving and asking for information according to the basic competence of the subject. This study aims to determine how the Reading Aloud strategy is implemented and what aspects increase when the strategy is applied as a learning method to improve the ability to interact orally in class VIII MTs Darul Falah. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants used were 33 class VIII students of MTs Darul Falah. Sources of data and information for this research are English teachers and students. Data collection instruments were in the form of observation checklists, field notes, and interviews. Data analysis consists of data reduction, conclusion drawing, and verification. Based on the results of research and discussion, the Reading Aloud method can improve students' ability to interact orally to give and ask for information. The aspects that improved when the Reading Aloud method was implemented in class VIII students of MTs Darul Falah were 1) knowledge aspects consisting of vocabulary, fluency, accuracy and intonation; 2) attitude aspect consisting of respect, caring and self-confidence; 3) behavioral aspects consisting of working together and communicating.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to dig deeper into information about three vocational high schools teachers who have applied the ecological approach in their English teaching process. The ecological approach from the perspective of education is a learning approach that emphasizes contextual learning and focuses on the relationship between teachers, students, and the delivery of teaching materials. Applying the ecological approach to learning English at vocational high school can facilitate teachers in teaching English, especially learning English speaking for students. Teachers have an important role in education because a good education is influenced by teacher competence and teacher readiness in teaching. Speaking skills are one of the skills taught by teachers in schools, speaking skills in Indonesia do not receive enough attention, this is because students have not been able to communicate even in simple English. Based on this, the teacher's readiness to find an appropriate approach to the environmental conditions of students is very influential in teaching English speaking skills and an ecological approach can be a solution in improving students' English speaking skills. This research uses a qualitative research approach, and phenomenological as the research design. The participants in this study were English teachers in tenth grade from the three vocational high schools in Bandung district. This research shows that the ecological approach can improve student English speaking skills in three vocational high schools in Bandung district. It is caused by the teacher's activity who has applied the ecology approach indicator, namely coordination, internalization, media, and development.

Abstract

This research aims to overcome learning loss in high school students in a post-pandemic situation by applying the jigsaw technique in teaching narrative texts. This research was conducted at Mekar Arum High School in class 10 MIPA 1 with 28 participants. This research uses a qualitative method with a Classroom Action research approach. Data collection techniques in this research used three instruments: observation, interviews, and the field. Based on the results of research conducted by researchers, it can be concluded that the application of the jigsaw technique carried out by the teacher runs smoothly. According to the procedure, then in the application of the jigsaw technique students can follow the teacher's directions well, students have also participated in the discussion process with maximum mutual cooperation and maximally fulfilling the responsibilities requested by the teacher, the interaction of students with their group mates has also started to be well established as well as interactions with the teacher, students have also been able to show the results of their discussions with confidence and when the teacher asks some questions all students can answer questions from teachers quickly, responsively, and correctly. Then, some of the consequences of learning loss that occur in students by applying the jigsaw technique in learning narrative text can overcome the problems of learning loss that occur in students.

Abstract

According to Melian O.H & Solihat M.R (2019), speaking is an essential skill in English, where speakers can express ideas, opinions, responses, and information. Problems that arise in learning to speak during a pandemic. These problems include more time for students to practice speaking, lack of communication, and lack of cooperation between other students. This study uses a qualitative method. The approach used is classroom action research. To collect data, researchers used observation, field notes, and interviews. This research was conducted in two stages, namely, cycle one and cycle two. This research was conducted at Mekar Arum High School. The research participants were students of class XI IPS-2, totalling 31 students. Based on the research results, researchers can conclude that implementing the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) can be used as one of the methods of learning speaking skills. This can be proven by findings that show the development of students' speaking activities. Based on research on students' opinions about the application of STAD, students like this learning method. Students gave positive answers and said that the presentation activities in this learning method gave them public speaking training and trained their confidence in public speaking.

Abstract

The purpose of the study which became the focal point was the management of work practice training based on digital literacy in the boarding school environment. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method of data collection is done by triangulation techniques using interviews, document studies, and field observations. With the object of research at the community work Training Center (BLKK) vocational Information Technology and Al-Mizan Islamic boarding school, Jatiwangi District, Majalengka Regency, West Java province. The results showed that: 1) the planning of training programs in BLKK Al-Mizan that focuses on identifying training needs has been carried out in accordance with SOP or rules, regulations of the Ministry of manpower. 2) the development of training programs in BLKK Al-Mizan which focuses on internal training cooperation still occurs in the dichotomy of departments and sectoral egos and external cooperation with less developed companies and even tiered apprenticeship program cooperation no longer exists. 3) the implementation of the training Program at BLKK Al-Mizan focusing on the implementation of competency-based training (CBT) has not been fully implemented. 4) evaluation of training at BLKK Al-Mizan showed that the assessment of training services has been carried out but the results are limited to the basis for recognition of students and the Al-Mizan Islamic boarding school environment. 5) support the function and use of training management at BLKK Al-Mizan to the function of improving digital literacy in the Al-Mizan Islamic boarding school. The researcher concluded that the management of digital literacy-based work practice training in the boarding school environment runs effectively and equips students to be technologically literate, this is also reflected in the students themselves in the use of digital-based books.

Abstract

English is one of the subjects studied in special education schools, and until now, are still many problems faced in the process of teaching this foreign language. Teachers' understanding of classroom management and appropriate learning strategies is a solution to overcome the problems that occur in learning English for children with autism. The application of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method is one of the effective methods used to learn English. The purpose of this study is to explore more information about classroom management activities and the application of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method at Satria Galdin Junior High School. The research approach used by the author is a qualitative method with a descriptive research design. Sources of data collection using interviews and observations. To analyze the data, the author uses descriptive techniques to present data based on the results of observations and interviews. The participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The participants of this study were students in the 2022/2023 school year, especially class VII of Satria Galdin Junior High School, as many as 20 people.  The results of this study can conclude that good classroom management supported by the application of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method in teaching English vocabulary is proven to be effective for student's mastery of English vocabulary and helps students maximize and explore their abilities. The effectiveness is seen in autistic students at Satria Galdin Junior High School.

Abstract

Speaking skills are a very important aspect of learning English to establish good communication. However, many students still need help expressing what they want to convey, be it ideas, ideas in a reading, or opinions when communicating, because of a lack of confidence from students. Thus, this study aims to improve students' speaking skills and to find out the factors and causes of students' difficulties in understanding reading by applying the learning method of reading aloud in learning text reports. This research was conducted at SMKN 1 SOREANG class X-TKJ (Network Computer Engineering) 1 with 36 participants. This research uses qualitative methods with a Classroom Action research approach. Data collection techniques in this study used three techniques, namely, Instruments: observations, field notes, and interviews. Based on the results of the study, the researcher can conclude that the application of the aloud reading learning method carried out by the teacher can run smoothly because, by the procedure, application of reading aloud, students can follow the teacher's direction well. In this learning process, students are very enthusiastic, and this encourages student learning motivation, especially in reading English texts; besides that, students can improve significantly in student speaking skills In several aspects it has so that students can be responsive when answering questions related to the reading that the teacher gives quickly. Therefore, based on the results of the research, some of the consequences of students' difficulties in speaking skills can be overcome by applying the method of learning to read aloud by increasing aspects of speaking skills in students, namely: 1) Fluency, 2) Pronunciation; 3) Intonation; 4) Accuracy.

Abstract

A plurality of, is fitroh divine so that mutual respect and keep security as well as guyup pillars, the rule obliges every citizen to embrace one religion that has been specified by the the ministry of religion's existence. The purpose of this research is for dig up information about the educational institutions of the boarding school in investment value-the value of the ahl as-sunnah wal jama'ah through the program religious activities. In this study use a qualitative approach with methods the study of the instrumental case. Based on the results of the research, it is known that: 1) Policies that underlying the program development of tolerance, a) the concept of at-tawasuth, b), the concept of knowing,, c, the concept tawazun, d), the concept of tasamuh, 2) the Fostering, a), Aswaja knowing, b), Aswaja feeling. c), Aswaja Action, 3) Implementation a) Introduce and familiarize students interact with people of other faiths. b) Giving example about the attitude tolerance by the kyai, c) Through learning in Boarding school, 4) Positive impact the form of the impartiality the students in interact 5) the Problems that arise a) lack of supervision b) Most of the students have the activities double, c) lodging at boarding schools already start damaged. Strategy conceptual practical tips is a step to carry out program investment value-the value of the ahl as-sunnah wal-jama'ah to students.

Abstract

This study purpose to (1) to find out the learning process activity in improving the ability to write Recount Text for grade VIII students of SMPN 53 Bandung using the react strategy. (2) To find out the improvement in the ability to write Recount Text Self-Experiences for grade VIII students of SMPN 53 Bandung in writing recount text self -experiences using the react strategy. This type of research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. Participants in the study were class VIII F SMPN 53 Bandung, totaling 33 students. This research was conducted in two cycles and data collection techniques used were Observation, Interviews and Field notes. The results of the data analysis show that the react strategy can be used to improve students' ability to write Recount Text Self-Experiences, this can be seen from the results of the achievement of the 1 and 2 cycle value, students give a very good response regarding the use of the react strategy. In addition, it also encourages students to actively follow the learning process and this react strategy to create a pleasant learning atmosphere. This strategy must be used continuously for better learning outcomes, especially in learning to write Recount Text of Self-Experiences
