Abstract

Project-based learning (PjBL) has emerged as a prominent approach in vocational education, particularly in language learning, as it aligns closely with the challenges of the professional world. This study investigates the perceptions and motivations of vocational students toward the implementation of PjBL in their language courses. The purpose of this study is to analyze students' experiences with PjBL, identify the factors influencing their motivation and engagement, and propose recommendations for improving the effectiveness of PjBL in vocational education. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining quantitative data from structured questionnaires completed by 170 students across three semesters and qualitative insights from Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The sampling technique ensured representation from students with varying levels of experience with PjBL. The findings show that in general, students perceive PjBL positively, recognizing its role in enhancing their understanding of course material and developing critical skills such as communication and collaboration. However, challenges such as inconsistent instructions from lecturers, tight deadlines, and a lack of focus on the learning process in assessments were noted as significant barriers to engagement and motivation. PjBL holds substantial promise for improving language learning outcomes in vocational education. By addressing instructional consistency, providing flexible timelines, and emphasizing formative assessments, PjBL can be further optimized to better prepare students for the demands of their future careers.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze marketing communication strategies, identify obstacles in marketing communication strategies, and find a model for marketing communication strategies. The research method used is qualitative with a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects in this study consist of five main informants who are female weavers and marketers of woven songket fabric in Batu Bara, and there are two triangulation informants, namely the head of tourism and the chairman of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). This research utilizes communication theories with data collection methods including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that female weavers have implemented the 4Ps approach: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion. The obstacles faced by the weavers include physical barriers, status barriers, and cultural barriers. The researcher also found a model in the marketing communication strategy used by the weavers, namely a marketing communication model in the form of face-to-face sales, where sales are made directly to potential buyers followed by community engagement by building good relationships with buyers , fellow weavers, and related parties. Followed by direct marketing divided into offline and online marketing, advertising on social media, and finally conducting sales promotions by offering discounts or promotions on a product.

Abstract

Recognizing that English vocabulary often has multiple meanings and is used differently across various fields, vocabulary instruction must be adjusted to meet the specific needs of students and remain relevant to their chosen field of study. Therefore, a teacher should select an appropriate method for teaching vocabulary. This research examines the influence of movie clips on hospitality students' vocabulary mastery. It aims to determine whether the use of movie clips has a significant impact on hospitality students' vocabulary acquisition. Using a quasi-experimental design, this study employed pre-tests and post-tests as data collection techniques. The study was conducted at a Vocational High School in Bandar Lampung, involving 67 hospitality students selected from two classes, XPH 1 and XPH 2. The data was analyzed using a Paired Sample Test. The findings indicate a significant influence of movie clips on hospitality students' vocabulary mastery. The results showed that the Sig. (p-value) was < 0.001, meaning the Sig. (p-value) was less than Sig α = 0.05. This implies that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. These results reveal that movie clips have a significant influence on students' vocabulary mastery and can serve as an effective medium in the process of teaching and learning vocabulary.

Abstract

Increasing public health awareness is an important strategic issue to be handled by local governments, especially in the Depok City area. This strategic issue is handled directly by the Depok City Health Service. This is a result of the lack of public health awareness, which is a challenge in health promotion efforts in Depok City. Several technical obstacles were encountered in the field related to limited technical capabilities in using software to create educational and promotional media using technology. This technical ability can be overcome by providing counseling and technical assistance using a selection of simple, smartphone-based tools. This training involved 60 health promoters from community health centers and regional hospitals in Depok City. The pretest results, which illustrate the success of the community service process, stated that 47.2% of health promotion workers rarely received multimedia training, and 17.85% felt that there had never been any multimedia training. Positive responses were given by the participants, as shown by the results of the implementation of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional multimedia
