Abstract

Farmer groups play a crucial role in supporting gender justice in Cavendish banana and coffee businesses. They focus not only on production but also on empowering women across various aspects of the business, from harvesting to coffee sorting. Programs implemented aim to improve group welfare while considering gender equality and enhancing family economic welfare. In managing these businesses, farmer groups involve local communities as laborers, creating opportunities for women to actively participate in production processes through the development of supportive infrastructure and resources. This research aims to identify the roles of men and women within the social and economic structure and their impact on gender equality in Cavendish banana and coffee activities. The research method used is literature study, gathering data from relevant books and sources. The findings indicate that the contributions of both men and women are mutually necessary. For example, the Women's Farmer Group (KWT) in coffee management requires male labor to facilitate their work, highlighting the importance of gender collaboration in enhancing business effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dynamics of multi-gender roles within the Karya Maju Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Bener Meriah Regency, particularly with the management of Gayo coffee cultivation. Despite KWT being administratively overseen by women, this research identified that men's contributions remain substantial in facilitating physical labor, including land cultivation and the transportation of agricultural goods. This study employs a qualitative methodology utilizing in-depth interviews and participant observation to analyze patterns of gender involvement in KWT. The research findings indicate that while men's participation is not formally organized within the KWT framework, their presence illustrates the interdependence between women's managerial positions and men's physical labor. The incorporation of gender roles in KWT could enhance the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural enterprises, although it has not been adequately addressed in current regulations. This research concludes that KWT Karya Maju serves as a forum for women's empowerment and a platform for collaboration between women and men to enhance the welfare of agricultural families. This research advocates for the implementation of more inclusive and adaptable policies to address gender roles in the agricultural sector, hence enhancing organizational effectiveness and the sustainability of coffee production.

The purpose of the researcher taking the title above is to develop farmers in Gampong Blang Ara Keude, Nagan Raya Regency. The results of this study indicate that farmers in Gampong Blang Ara Keude, Nagan Raya Regency are starting to get used to using technology in agricultural activities. Such as using organic fertilizers, tractors, reapers, milling machines, and others. However, for marketing, they still use traditional methods, namely by distributing them to the nearest staple food agent outlets. In fact, even though rice farmers in Gampong Blang Ara Keude easily accept technological modernization, not all harvests necessarily bring maximum results. They even said that this crop failure was a disaster from Allah SWT, the Almighty God, because the local residents were not grateful enough to the Creator.
