Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of nanopropolis on DMBA-induced mammary tumors in rats. After the first tumor appearance, twenty-eight rats were divided into seven groups. Groups 1, 2, and 3 served as recipients of nanopropolis treatments at dosages of 8, 32, and 56 μg/mL, respectively. Group 4 received propolis at 233 μg/mL, Group 5 served as the treatment control, Group 6 received DMBA only, and Group 7 served as the normal control. The effects of nanopropolis at 32 μg/mL and propolis at 233 μg/mL were similar in reducing tumor size, healing wounds caused by the tumor, and eliminating cancer cells. Furthermore, the study suggested a relationship between particle size of the absorbent material and its effectiveness. Overall, nanopropolis was very effective in treating mammary gland tumors and breast cancer even at small concentrations.

Abstract

The complex supply chain system for the sugar agroindustry supply chain involves many actors, resulting in the asymmetry of information data. It still leads to a lack of data transparency. In the past, data traceability could not be made efficient at every stage, so the record data transaction was not real-time, less accurate, and inefficient coordination between actors. Blockchain is one of the technologies in the 4.0 era as a distributed ledger technology. It can be transparency, traceability, security, immutability, and decentralization. This study aims to design a white sugar agroindustry system based on blockchain technology using the SDLC waterfall stage public. Ethereum is a proof-of-work convention based on the Ropsten test-net on the Metamask wallet. The sugar supply chain system that has been successfully developed allows consumers to track the purchased sugar products based on the transaction hash code sent by the seller. The data listed is the location of the plantation, the quantity (quintal) and quality of sugarcane (percentage), and the purchase price. A web-based blockchain application could be used as a model by national sugar factories to help them make enough sugar food for themselves.

Abstract

Robusta coffee is widely cultivated in Indonesia, but it struggles to dominate the global market due to its bitterness, slightly sour taste, and higher caffeine content. Coffee bean fermentation can be done to reduce undesirable characteristics in robusta coffee. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of lactic acid bacteria fermentation on the quality of coffee and its brewing characteristics, comparing it to spontaneous fermentation. The goal was to explore the potential of fermented coffee beans as functional beverages with health benefits. Three lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolates were tested, and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum H 2.34 was identified as the most effective starter culture for coffee fermentation. After 12 hours of fermentation using coffee mucilage, LAB growth was significantly enhanced. A significant increase in flavonoid content was observed in coffee fermented with the starter culture. All brewed coffee samples demonstrated strong antioxidant activity, and LAB fermentation successfully reduced caffeine content by 4.85%. These results suggest that fermented robusta coffee could offer functional health benefits while improving its sensory profile.

Abstract

The poultry feed industry in Belu Regency faces the challenge of seasonal corn availability, which has the potential to disrupt production continuity. This research aims to design an optimal corn procurement system thru a dynamic system modelling approach. The methodology includes stakeholder data collection, the creation of Causal Loop Diagrams and Stock and Flow Diagrams using Vensim PLE, as well as model validation thru MAPE testing, face validation, and sensitivity analysis. The verified model was then simulated in three procurement scenarios: involving farmers and distributors, the implementation of the Government Purchase Price (HPP) with BUMDES/Cooperative institutions, and mass procurement each harvest season. The simulation results show that the HPP Scenario yields the lowest total cost of Rp25.74 billion, stabilizes prices and supply, and minimizes the risk of overstock and raw material damage. In contrast, the bulk procurement scenario carries a high risk of excessive storage costs, while the basic model results in more expensive fluctuating costs. In conclusion, the intervention of government benchmark pricing policies and the strengthening of local storage institutions are the most effective strategies to balance industrial supply and demand. This scenario is recommended as a strategic blueprint to ensure production sustainability and operational cost efficiency
