Abstract

This study aims to identify Non Value Added (NVA) activities in the harvesting process of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) and formulate optimization measures to improve operational efficiency and work productivity. Based on the results of field observation and work time analysis, eight activities were found that did not provide direct added value to the product, but contributed to the waste of time and resources. Optimization is carried out through a process improvement approach, including the elimination of unnecessary activities, improvement of workflows, the use of motorized tools, and the implementation of digitization of crop yield recording. The results of the implementation showed a decrease in the total harvesting process time from 23,560 seconds to 17,760 seconds, or an increase in time efficiency by 28.57%. These findings show that the systematic identification and reduction of NVA activities can improve operational performance and support the achievement of production targets in the palm oil industry.

Abstract

This research aims to thoroughly analyze the influence of job satisfaction and employee engagement on employee performance at XYZ Palm Oil Plantation Company located in Rokan Hulu, Riau. In an increasingly competitive plantation industry era, human resource factors such as job satisfaction and employee engagement play a crucial role in determining the company's success. This study employs a quantitative approach with a survey method, involving a total of 100 respondents selected based on specific criteria to represent the entire workforce of the company. Data were collected through questionnaires designed with relevant measurement indicators, such as satisfaction levels regarding the work environment, compensation, relationships with supervisors and colleagues, as well as emotional attachment and commitment to the company. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression methods to examine the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable. The results indicate that both job satisfaction and employee engagement have positive and significant effects on employee performance. This suggests that higher levels of satisfaction and engagement among employees will positively impact their productivity and work quality. These findings highlight that management should focus more on improving aspects that contribute to employee satisfaction and engagement as key strategies to enhance performance and ensure sustainable company growth. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance of human resource management oriented toward employee well-being to create a conducive work environment, increase loyalty, and boost motivation. With increased satisfaction and engagement, it is expected that the company can achieve optimal production targets, maintain operational sustainability, and strengthen its competitive position in the regional and national palm oil industry.

Abstract

Employee performance is a crucial factor in achieving organizational goals. However, the performance of employees at PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia in the Tapaktuan region remains suboptimal, as evidenced by unmet work targets and low achievement of key performance indicators. Based on preliminary survey results, work stress, physical work environment, and work motivation were identified as dominant factors contributing to performance decline. This study aims to analyze the influence of work stress and physical work environment on employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, using questionnaires distributed to 52 marketing staff respondents. The preliminary survey revealed that most employees experienced stress due to high workloads and tight deadlines, worked in uncomfortable environments, and had low work motivation, both internally and externally. Work motivation was found to play a significant role in strengthening or weakening the influence of stress and work environment on performance. This study contributes to the development of human resource management theory and provides practical recommendations for management to improve performance through enhancing the work environment, managing stress, and increasing motivation. Future research is recommended to involve a larger sample size and to consider other variables such as leadership and organizational culture.
