Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Increasingly complex global environmental crises and disasters demand a strategic role for education in building awareness, attitudes, and sustainable actions. Islamic education has strong normative and pedagogical potential to respond to these challenges thru the internalization of ecological ethical values derived from Islamic teachings. This research aims to analyze how Islamic education based on ecological ethics is implemented in response to the global environmental crisis and disasters, as well as to identify pedagogical models, impacts on students, and obstacles in its implementation. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design and case studies across several Islamic educational institutions, including pesantren, Islamic schools, and madrasahs. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and analysis of curriculum documents, and was analyzed thematically. The research findings indicate that educational institutions that explicitly integrate Islamic values such as khalifah, amanah, mizan, and the prohibition of fasad thru practice-based programs such as organic farming, waste management, and reforestation are more effective in shaping students' environmental awareness and behavior. The contextual learning and Project-Based Learning approach combined with fiqh al-bi'ah has been proven to improve students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. However, this study also found constraints in the form of a lack of a systematic curriculum, uneven teacher capacity, limited resources, and the absence of consistent evaluation instruments. This research recommends strengthening the curriculum, training educators, and developing an Islamic ecological ethics-based evaluation model to make Islamic education a transformational force in addressing the global environmental crisis.

Abstract

This study examines the role of money within the framework of Islamic economics and analyzes how Sharia principles influence its utilization in real economic activities. Using a qualitative literature-based approach supported by scholarly books, journal articles, and institutional documents, the research also incorporates comparative case studies from Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia. The findings reveal that Islamic economics views money not merely as a medium of exchange but as an instrument that carries social responsibility and ethical obligations. The application of Sharia principles such as the prohibition of riba, the promotion of risk-sharing, and the encouragement of asset-backed transactions demonstrates the potential to enhance sustainable economic growth, strengthen financial stability, and promote social justice. Although the three countries share common foundational values regarding the function of money in Islamic economic practice, variations in regulatory frameworks and economic priorities lead to different macroeconomic impacts. Nevertheless, all three cases converge on a similar objective: fostering equitable, ethical, and sustainable economic welfare in line with their respective socioeconomic contexts. Abstract

Increasingly complex environmental degradation, such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change, indicates the existence of an ecological crisis that is not only technical in nature but also moral and educational. Environmental education serves as a strategic instrument in shaping human awareness, attitudes, and behaviors to become more responsible toward environmental sustainability. This paper aims to examine the basic concepts of environmental education as an effort to address environmental degradation, analyze the role of Islamic values as an ethical and spiritual foundation for environmental education, and identify effective environmental education strategies in shaping students’ awareness, attitudes, and behaviors. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing various relevant sources from the perspectives of environmental education and Islamic teachings. The findings reveal that environmental education must be integrated holistically into cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Islamic values, such as the concepts of khalifah (stewardship), amanah (trust), mizan (balance), and the prohibition of fasad (destruction), provide a strong moral and spiritual foundation in developing environmentally responsible character. Environmental education based on Islamic values strengthens students’ motivation, as environmental stewardship is understood as part of worship and religious responsibility. Through integrative, contextual, and role-model-based educational strategies, environmental education is expected to produce a generation that is ecologically aware, morally grounded, and responsible in preserving environmental sustainability.

Abstract

The ongoing environmental crisis demands a serious role of education in fostering continuous environmental awareness among students. Environmental education implemented in schools has largely been oriented toward a scientific approach and has insufficiently addressed Islamic values and spiritual dimensions. Islam, as a holistic religion governing the relationship between humans and nature, offers a strong ethical foundation for environmental stewardship. This article aims to analyze and map the development of an Islamic-based environmental education curriculum within Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the junior secondary school level through a Systematic Literature Review approach. The study examines 28 scholarly articles published between 2021 and 2025, which were analyzed using the PRISMA protocol. The findings reveal four main themes: theological and ethical foundations of environmental education, integration of environmental education into the IRE curriculum, the pedagogical role of teachers and ecological learning models, and challenges as well as future directions for the development of environmentally oriented IRE curricula. These findings emphasize that the development of an environmentally based IRE curriculum should be conducted in an integrative, systematic, and sustainable manner grounded in Islamic values.

Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of the authority of the Qur’anic text in its interaction with local contexts through the Living Qur’an approach. Theologically, the Qur’an holds absolute authority as revelation; however, in social reality, this authority undergoes a process of recontextualization and negotiation to remain relevant to community culture. This study aims to describe how local communities receive and interpret the Qur’an beyond textual-normative boundaries. Using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, this research focuses on the subjective experiences of practitioners in religious activities. The theoretical framework includes Fazlur Rahman's thoughts on the Living Sunnah, Neal Robinson on audio-oral phenomena, and Ahmad Rafiq's classification of reception. The results indicate that in local contexts, the authority of the Qur’anic text transforms from cognitive authority to performative authority. Community reception is not merely exegetical but is predominantly aesthetic and functional, where the Qur’an is positioned as an "agency" that provides protection and spiritual identity. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the Living Qur’an is a manifestation of the dynamization of revelation, keeping it alive (salih li kulli zaman wa makan) through creative dialogue with local wisdom without diminishing the sacredness of the original text.

Abstract

The development of technology and the evolving characteristics of adolescents in the modern era require teachers not only to possess pedagogical competence but also adequate social competence in establishing harmonious, communicative, and inspiring interpersonal relationships. As Islamic-based educational institutions in Bandar Lampung, SMA Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung and SMA Al-Azhar Bandar Lampung exhibit distinctive religious characteristics that are relevant to be examined, particularly in the context of the contribution of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers’ social competence to students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the social competence of PAI teachers in both schools is categorized as good, as reflected in effective communication skills, empathetic attitudes, openness, and exemplary behavior in social interactions. Students’ learning motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, is also categorized as good. The findings suggest that teachers’ social competence contributes positively to enhancing students’ learning motivation, as harmonious interpersonal relationships are able to create a conducive, participatory, and meaningful learning environment. Based on these findings, future research is recommended to examine more deeply the influence of teachers’ social competence using quantitative or mixed methods approaches in order to obtain more measurable levels of effect. Furthermore, future studies may be expanded to different educational levels or other relevant variables, such as teachers’ personality competence, learning environment, and the role of technology in enhancing students’ learning motivation.
