Abstract

Host trees are vital for the survival of epiphytic orchids, providing necessary light and air circulation for optimal growth. Large trees with tall canopies contribute to the broader distribution of epiphytic orchids in forest areas. This research aimed to identify the characteristics of orchid host tree species in Lore Lindu National Park, considering both elevation zones and orchid growth zones. The research was conducted at various locations within the park, employing the field exploration survey method (cruise method). This method involved comprehensive exploration at each research site and establishing observation paths along pioneer lines, mainly where orchid host trees were found. The findings indicate the presence of 20 types of orchid host trees and 35 species of epiphytic orchids. The basal branching zone (Zone 3) was the most populated by epiphytic orchids on host trees, and the lowland forest was the elevation zone where most orchid host trees were found in Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi. Keywords: host trees, Lore Lindu National Park, orchids, zone distribution

Abstract

Tin Fruits (Ficus carica Linn) are typical Middle Eastern plants that have been cultivated in Indonesia. Tin fruits are rich in minerals, especially calcium and potassium. In addition, they also contain benzaldehyde which is beneficial against cancer cells. This study aimed to determine the concentrations of calcium and potassium contained in tin fruits. Determination of calcium and potassium contents using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed an analysis of the water content of the sample obtained was 89.065 %, ash content was 1.0165 % and biomass content was 9.9185 %. While the analysis of calcium contents at a wavelength of 422.7 nm and potassium at a wavelength of 766.5 nm respectively obtained that an average yield of calcium was 354.97 mg/100g and 752.68 mg/100g for potassium. The results of this study are expected to be able to attract the interest of the community to cultivate tin fruits, especially in Central Sulawesi.

Abstract

Biscuits are one of the most popular snacks for the public, with the primary raw material being wheat flour. However, the high dependence on wheat flour encourages the need to find alternative ingredients that are more diverse and have high nutritional value. This study aims to analyze the proximate content (carbohydrate, protein, and fat) of biscuits made from durian seed flour (TBD), which is compared with cornstarch (TM) and wheat flour (TT). Proximate analysis methods included UV-Vis spectrophotometry for carbohydrate analysis, the Kjeldahl protein method, and Soxhlet fat extraction. The formulations used consisted of: F1 (100% TBD), F2 (100% TM), F3 (50% TBD:50% TM), and F4 (50% TT:50% TM). The results showed that the highest carbohydrate content was found in F1 at 70.07%, while the highest protein content in F4 at 13.65%. The highest fat content was found in F2 at 21.69%. The best formulation was obtained in F3 (50% TBD:50% TM) because it has a balanced nutritional composition and potential as a functional food product, especially for people with diabetes. In addition, this biscuit product has the potential as a contextual learning medium in food science and nutrition, especially in introducing proximate concepts and utilizing tropical fruit seed waste.

Abstract

An agricultural development approach that is centralized, top down, and applied linear communication (transfer of technology) puts farmers as a tool to achieve national’s goals (rice self-sufficiency) and makes them dependant to the outsiders. This study aims to analyze the level of participatory communication implementation in the implementation of Small Farmers Empowerment Program. The data are collected using some methods: observation, interview and focus group discussion. The data are analyzed using descriptive statistic. The study result shows that the implementation of participatory communication is in a low category. The recommendations of this study are to enhance the ability of small farmers through increasing the intensity of dialogue between the small farmers and the stakeholders (insiders and outsiders). Abstract

The implementation of regional innovation has not been effective in improving public services and regional competitiveness. Several factors are considered to be an obstacle to implementing regional innovation, namely regulation, institutions, culture and leadership. The purpose of this study is to analyze the readiness of innovation support factors and also to analyze the relationship between these factors in the implementation of regional innovation. Data were collected by interviews and questionnaires distributed in July, August, and September 2016 in 7 (seven) Districts selected to represent HDI High areas, such as Palembang, Surakarta, Bandung and Batam and also represented Low HDI areas: Pesawaran, Bangkalan, and West Lombok. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistic and Pearson Correlation with SPSS ver.16 program. The results showed that the readiness of factors of factorization interpretation, regulatory readiness, leadership, innovation culture, and facilities and infrastructure were in high category, while the preparedness factor from the coordination and facilitation faced by stakeholders was also low category cooperation. The results show that all the factors supporting innovation except for facilitation and coordination in high HDI areas are superior to low HDI areas. The relationship between the supporting factors reveals that there are three types of relationships: very important, important, and not very important. Local innovation development strategies consist of core strategies and support strategies.

Abstract

The reform aims to achieve democracy, prosperity, and justice at the local level. Even though the reform process has been rolling for more than two decades, the goal of reform in realizing local democracy through an ideal regional head election is still far from expectations. This study aims to analyze the causes of the absence of synergy between regional autonomy and regional elections and identify the causes. A qualitative approach is used in the literature review method. The result showed that the root of the problem is not creating a synergy between regional autonomy and regional head elections because the application of the decentralization concept in Indonesia is dominated by the administrative decentralization perspective and the lack of actualizing the political perspective decentralization. The definitions of decentralization and regional autonomy in Acts tend to preserve centralization. Besides, regional autonomy's main objective places more emphasis on the administrative objectives of government and regional development rather than the development of local democracy. The lack of synergy between regional autonomy and regional elections is the gap between expectations and reality and conflicts at the ideological and technical levels. The gap between expectations and reality can be seen from the hope of realizing the acceleration of the democratization process at the local level, but technically, regional autonomy is characterized by an oligarchy of political parties and transactional politics. There are some suggestions for the Ministry of Home Affairs to revise the policy packages for decentralization and regional autonomy, especially in articles regulating the definition and objectives of regional autonomy, as well as revising Acts of Regional Head Election and Acts of Political Parties, particularly regarding the mechanism for nominating regional heads.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of additional employee income and organizational justice on employee performance at the Office of the Human Resources Development and Personnel Agency (BKPSDM) of Wajo Regency. The sample in this study is the total population, which is 43 respondents. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, documentation and questionnaires. The results of the data analysis as seen in the table show that according to the perception of respondents in general, Organizational Justice at the Bureau of Personnel and Human Resource Development Agency is included in the very good criteria of the ideal score with the number of scores obtained 1451 with details of 10 indicators. The regression model in this research is suitable to be used to predict employee performance based on the input of additional variables of employee income, organizational fairness, and other variables outside this research model. The research shows that additional income and organization justice have a simultaneous and positive effect on employees' performance. The findings can inform policymakers and organizational leaders in designing effective compensation and management strategies that foster a positive work environment and improve employee outcomes. Lastly, qualitative research methods, such as interviews or focus groups, could be employed to gain deeper insights into employee perceptions and experiences regarding additional income, enriching the understanding of these dynamics in the workplace.
