Abstract

The plant prickly lantana (Lantana Camara L.) contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids and has the potential to be used as a natural antioxidant source. The research objective is to determine the IC50 value for the antioxidant activity of prickly lantana leaf extract. Prickly lantana leaves were macerated in a 96% ethanol solvent for 3x24 hours. Phytochemical analysis of prickly lantana leaves revealed that the leaves contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. This antioxidant activity test was performed using the reagent 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), whose absorption at 517 nm was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, and by varying the sample concentration after the addition of prickly lantana leaf extract. The concentrations of prickly lantana leaf extract used varied from 20 ppm to 40 ppm, 60 ppm, and 80 ppm. The positive control was vitamin C at the same concentration variation, and the negative control was DPPH solution dissolved in 96% ethanol. The results showed that the IC50 of prickly lantana leaf extract was 164.639 ppm, while vitamin C had an IC50 of 18.754 ppm.

Abstract

Employee productivity is an important factor in achieving organizational goals, especially in the government sector. This study aims to analyze the influence of work experience, work morale, and working period on employee productivity at the Birem Bayeun Sub-district Office, East Aceh. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data analysis was carried out using the multiple linear regression method to determine the influence of each independent variable on the dependent variable. The results of the study show that work experience has a positive and significant influence on employee productivity, which shows that the more work experience an employee has, the higher the level of productivity. Work morale has also been proven to have a significant effect on productivity, where employees with high work morale are able to complete tasks more efficiently and effectively. Meanwhile, the length of service shows a more varied influence, where a longer period of service does not necessarily guarantee increased productivity, but rather depends on the quality of the employee's experience and adaptation to change. This study concludes that the combination of adequate work experience, high work morale, and productive work period is a key factor in improving employee performance. Recommendations were given to the Birem Bayeun Sub-district Office to provide relevant training and create a supportive work environment so that employee productivity can continue to be improved.

Abstract

The government has endeavoured to realize the goals of educating the children through the National Education System. However, in some situations, the implementation of this effort has fallen short of expectations because certain practices—like managing school operational cost assistance funds—show less than ideal support in meeting educational standards. This research aims to describe and analyse the implementation of the School Operational Assistance Program (SOA) policy in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The research method used is qualitative descriptive research and the data is analyzed using a policy theory approach with three dimensions: organization, interpretation and application. The research results show that the implementation of the policy for managing school operational costs in basic education in the Wajo area has been carried out by technical instructions which have been explained through organizational, interpretation and application aspects as well as through socialization, coordination and reference to the Ministry of Education and Culture database. The supporting factor for implementing this policy is the availability of resources as a means of supporting learning services to students where communication between implementers is established smoothly and program implementers are properly responsible for following their respective duties.

Abstract

Inorganic and organic components, including various dangerous heavy metals such as iron (Fe), can cause water pollution, which is detrimental to the body of organisms because they are toxic. Biosorbent is one of the methods that can reduce the level of iron content in dug well water by using activated charcoal from coconut shells as a filter. This study aimed to determine the pH value, temperature and decrease in Fe levels in dug well water using coconut shell activated charcoal as a biosorbent with time variations of 7 (P1), 14 (P2) and 21 (P3) days. This research is quasi-experimental with a pre-and post-test design with two measurements. Data from laboratory examinations were processed and analyzed using descriptive statistical tests. The results showed that dug well water's pH, temperature, and iron (Fe) level before filtering were 8.71, 31.670C, and 1.87 ml/L. After filtering using active coconut shell charcoal media as a biosorbent, pH values varied from 8, 50 (P1), 8.32 (P2) and 7.69 (P3). The temperature values remain unchanged at 31 degrees with 31.560C (P1), 31.670C (P2) and 31.440C (P3). Levels of iron (Fe) showed a significant decrease from 1.82 mg/L (5%) in P1, 1.20 mg/l (67%) in P2 and 1.11 (76%) in P3. In conclusion, the iron (Fe) content decrease in dug well water has the highest value on the 21st day, with a 76% reduction.  Keywords: active charcoal, Biosorbent, Fe Level, dug well water, Tallo District, Makassar.

Abstract

Salak seeds have a reasonably high cellulose content. This suggests that salak seeds can be used as a raw material for producing activated charcoal to refine used cooking oil. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of refining used cooking oil using active charcoal adsorbents derived from Salacca zalacca seeds. The methods used to determine free fatty acid levels and peroxide values are the acid-base and iodometric titration methods. This study will observe several variables that affect the adsorption process, namely the mass of activated charcoal and the contact time of used cooking oil. The results showed a decrease in free fatty acids and peroxide number, and the colour of the oil became brighter with increasing adsorbent and contact time. The best results were obtained at a mass of 15 grams and an adsorption time of 120 minutes. Based on the quality requirements for cooking oil as specified in SNI 3741-1995.
