Abstract

The role of the river as a site for riverine activities has a huge impact on the economic sustainability of the community and the riverine ecosystem. The Silugonggo River is the only river in Pati Regency that is a very densely populated shipping route. This research was conducted along the Silugonggo River from the Juwana Bridge to the estuary. The purpose of this study was to determine ship activity in the Silugonggo River, determine the feasibility of facilities at Juwana Port and analyze environmental conditions along the Silugonggo River. The method used is a qualitative method with observation techniques and laboratory analysis, which is carried out by observing and recording conditions in the field systematically using primary data in the form of water conditions and secondary data in the form of ship activity and construction data. The results showed that the activities in the port of Juwana include mooring, loading and unloading of goods, ship repair and refuelling of ships. The level of water pollution in the Silugonggo River at 5 sampling points shows that the oil content in the water for points 1, 3, 4 and 5 is still considered safe because it is below the quality standard, but the oil content at point 2 has a very high value from the set quality standard which is 20 mg/L. The pollution that occurs is caused by shipping activities that dump waste into the water and fuel filling activities. Keywords:marine polutionportriverwater qualityoil spill

Abstract

Collaboration in the management of mangrove areas is a role for every social element in local government, the community, and the private sector. Co-management is an alternative solution in the form of management that integrates the roles and interests of everyone in the mangrove rehabilitation program. This study aims to analyze the role and level of influence of the interests of each actor in mangrove rehabilitation activities in Langkat Regency. The research method uses descriptive-qualitative data collected from the results of questionnaires, interviews; Field observations are processed in the form described in the description in the tabulation. From the results of this study, the form of joint management in mangrove rehabilitation is at a consultative stage where the government starts to consider local views in the decision-making process, the level of participation of each stakeholder is in a low category, so this Study recommends that the form of participation of each stakeholder can be improved through the form of joint regulations, sustainability programs and systematic work distribution that is disseminated to every implementer of mangrove rehabilitation programs in Langkat District.

Abstract

Abstract

Osmoregulation is a physiological adjustment mechanism of fish to environmental conditions. Fish growth performance will reduce when a large amount of energy is redirected for the osmoregulation process. The purpose of this study was to determine the osmotic work level (OWL), osmoregulation pattern, condition factor (K), gonad maturity stages (GMS) and analyze the relationship between OWL with condition factor and GMS of tilapia collected from three floating net cages in Cengklik reservoir, Boyolali. Samples were collected during March - April 2022 followed by some allometric measurements and regression analyses. The OWL of tilapia at the three cages ranged from 4 - 10 mOsm/L H2O; they performed a hyperosmotic osmoregulation pattern. The condition factor of male and female tilapia were1,86±0,21 and 1,89±0,18. GMS of both male and female tilapia was dominated by GMS IV with a fecundity of 9408±2092.54 eggs. OWL did not reveal a significant effect on condition factors or on the GMS of tilapia (p>0.05). Pearson correlation test showed a weak relationship between OWL with condition factors (r = 0,204) and tilapia GMS (r = -0,001). Therefore, tilapia uses less energy in osmotic work to produce good growth performance because it has more energy for growth, as indicated by the high condition factor (K>1) and domination by fish with GMS IV level of mature gonads. Keywords: Condition Factor; Gonad Maturity; Fish Cages; Oreochromis niloticus; Osmoregulation

Abstract

The beach is a favorite tourist destination for the Indonesian people. As Indonesia is blessed with many beaches which attracts people to visit. Indonesians usually come to the beach in the holiday to fish, see beautiful scenery, and play around. Central Java Province in Indonesia has a beach cluster situated to the north and south of the Java Island. Jatimalang Beach is the south coast of Java which has excellent natural beauty, which is located in Purworejo Regency. This research is focused on the beach facilities and infrastructures, tourist’s ecotourism awareness, and environmental sustainability management of the Jatimalang Beach Purworejo. The study was carried out in November till December 2019 by using the qualitative research method. Information discovered during fieldwork are used to direct data collection. Qualitative researchers, are closely engaging with the environment being examined. This work was conducted through observations and interviews with tourist at Jatimalang Beach, as well as a literature review. The results showed that the facilities and infrastructure found in Jatimalang Beach were the presence of lifesavers, waste, parking lots, freshwater swimming pools for children, toilets, electrical facilities, and worship places. In addition, tourists are often willing to preserve nature and the sustainability of marine tourism on the Jatimalang Beach, however many of them do not understand the importance of ecotourism and need to be educated again.
