Abstract

Background. Outcome-Based Education (OBE) requires strong alignment between Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) to ensure that graduate competencies are systematically achieved. This study evaluates the extent to which ILO–CLO integration is realised in the Real Analysis course of the Mathematics Education Study Programme.  Methods. Using a descriptive evaluative approach, data were obtained through analysis of Semester Learning Plans (SLPs), assessment instruments, student learning outcomes, and interviews with course lecturers. Using assessment data, curriculum documents, and cognitive-level analysis, the study finds that ILO achievement is generally high, with most indicators exceeding 70%.  Results. CLO performance shows a varied pattern: students demonstrate strong mastery in Sub-CLO 01 and Sub-CLO 04, particularly in topics with clear procedural structure, such as real number construction and basic calculus. However, achievement in Sub-CLO 03, which covers limits and continuity, remains moderate, indicating difficulties in higher-order reasoning aligned with the expected C5 cognitive level. These results reveal a gap between intended evaluative competencies and the predominantly procedural nature of current assessments.  Conclusion. The study recommends integrating more authentic, conceptual, and reasoning-based evaluation methods—such as project or portfolio assessments—to better support deep learning and reflective mathematical thinking.

Abstract

The utilization of cultural context in mathematics learning can be an alternative of effective learning approach to bridge students to master the abstract dimension of mathematics through the real context in students' lives. However, cultural integration in mathematics learning must begin with the identification of mathematical concepts contained in cultural objects that are relevant to school mathematics. This study aims to identify mathematical concepts contained in the Panggung Krapyak and Rotiban activities at one of the Islamic boarding schools in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This study is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations of the Panggung Krapyak and Rotiban activities, in-depth interviews with figures, documentation, and literature reviews. The results of the study indicate that Panggung Krapyak displays various mathematical concepts such as reflection, similarity, and congruence in the shape of the building. In addition, the Rotiban activity contains the concept of multiples of numbers in its schedule and cyclic permutation in the cycle pattern of participants sitting. These findings indicate that the existence of mathematical concepts contained in local culture is in line with school mathematics so it can be integrated into mathematics learning to be more contextual and easier for students understanding.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and describe the geometric elements and mathematical patterns contained in Jathilan traditional art. The research method used is qualitative ethnography through interviews with village residents who are also artists, village elders and village officials. The results of the research show that geometric elements appear in the shape of the lumping horse's properties, the arrangement of the dancers' formations, accompaniment and movement. The mathematical values that emerge include the concepts of lines, circles, and repeating patterns. This study strengthens the view that mathematics is not only present in formal contexts, but also lives and develops in society's culture.
