Abstract

It has been conducted the class action research that aims to improve students ability in solving problems based on cognitive style, social interaction, understanding of concepts, and the psychomotor skills by using models of Problem Based Learning (PBL). This classroom action research conducted  by using 2 cycles. The subjects were 33 of eleventh grade students of  the Nurses Health Program of SMK 1 Murung Pudak Tabalong. The research instruments were observation sheet of teachers and students activities, responses questionnaire, students assessment, problem solving skills asessment, social interaction skills assessment and psychomotor skills assessment. The result showed that the application of PBL (1) improve students ability to solve the problem on the competence of waste treatment (2) improve student social interaction (3) enhance the students understanding of the material waste processing. (4) psychomotor skills of students in carrying out the experiment reached the category of "good" to "very good". (5) get the "positive" response from students (6) students with cognitive styles FI increased better at all the aspects compared to students with cognitive style F intermediates and FD. Students with cognitive styles FI solve problems analytically, detailed, independent, and think more critically, while students with cognitive style FD resolve the issue globally.

Abstract

This study is a first stage of the research and development of the learning tools of problem based learning model. This study used a survey method to obtain data abaout implementation of learning science in elementary school, and student characteristics comprising cognitive styles and reasoning ability. Furthermore, the datas were analyzed descriptively as the basis of developing the learning tools. Tis study showed that: (1) learning science has been widely implemented the conventional approach and emphasized to the cognitif learning outcomes: “teacher explains the concepts, give exercise to the students, then test the students’ understanding, (2) teacher conducted investigation-based learning activities in learning occasionally and students are not familiar to discussion activities and communicate the results of their investigation, (3) science learning have not been considered differences of the students’ characteristics (4) students of elementary school with category C and B generally have a field-dependent cognitive style (FD), while students at school with A category distributed in all cognitive style (field dependent, field-intermediate and field- independent/FI), although the most of them with FD cognitive style and (5) majority of elementary students have the concrete reasoning abilities. Based on the above facts, science learning strategy should facilitate students to construct their knowledge meaningfully, train a variety of skills such as social skills, psychomotoric skills, and process skills as well as consider characteristics of the students, so that they they can learn optimally .

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to improve teacher and students activities, creative thinking ability, self efficacy, and student learning outcomes in Colloid system material using creative problem solving model. The subjects were 36 students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 4 Banjarmasin. This classroom action research was conducted in 2 cycles through the stages of planning, action, evaluation and observation, and reflection. The data were collected using observation instruments, creative thinking skills tests, student achievement test, and questionnaires. Analysis of the data used qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. The results of the cycle I and cycle 2 showed: (1) there was an increase in teacher and student activities from good to very good, (2) students creative thinking ability increased from moderate to high, (3) self efficacy of students increased from moderate to high, (4) students learning outcomes on the attitude aspects improved from good (score 71,53) to be very good (score 86.34), the skill aspects improved from good enough to good, and the percentage of students mastery increased from 52.78% in the first cycle to 83.33% in te second cycle.                  Keywords: Creative problem solving, creative thinking ability, self efficacy, colloid system. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas guru dan aktivitas siswa, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, self efficacy, dan hasil belajar siswa pada materi sistem Koloid menggunakan model pembelajaran creative problem solving. Subjek penelitian adalah 36 orang siswa kelas XI IPA SMA PGRI 4 Banjarmasin. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dalam 2 siklus melalui tahap-tahap perencanaan, tindakan, evaluasi dan observasi, dan refleksi. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen observasi, tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif, tes hasil belajar, dan angket. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian siklus I dan siklus 2 menunjukkan: (1) terjadi peningkatan aktivitas guru dan aktivitas siswa dari baik menjadi sangat baik, (2) kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa meningkat dari sedang menjadi tinggi, (3) self efficacy siswa menigkat dari sedang menjadi tinggi, (4) hasil belajar siswa pada aspek sikap meningkat dari baik (skor 71,53) menjadi sangat baik (skor 86,34),  aspek keterampilan meningkat dari cukup baik menjadi baik, dan persentase ketuntasan pengetahuan siswa meningkat dari 52,78% pada siklus I menjadi 83,33% di siklus II.Kata kunci: creative problem solving, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, self efikasi, sistem koloid.
