Abstract

Education in the 4.0 era demands learning media that are enjoyable, interactive, and capable of increasing student motivation at the elementary school level. Preliminary findings at MI Nurul Huda Temayang revealed that Indonesian language learning, particularly capitalization material, is still monotonous and teacher-centered, resulting in low student engagement. This study aims to develop a gamification-based learning media integrating Google Sites, Canva, and Wordwall to enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and comprehension. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model involving 30 third-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, motivation questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that students became more active, motivated, and demonstrated better conceptual understanding. The developed gamification-based learning media proved to be feasible and effective in creating enjoyable and meaningful Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Socio Scientific Issue (SSI) Based Interactive Learning Module in the subject of Islamic Religious Education and Ethics at the basic level by using the ADDIE development model which involves the stages of needs analysis, design, development, limited trials, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects involved 120 elementary school students in Bojonegoro. Data collection instruments include expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and observation of student involvement and communication in learning. This module is designed to integrate socio-scientific issues into learning so that it is able to foster an understanding of Islamic values as well as 21st century skills, especially students' active participation and communication skills. The validation of the feasibility of the module was carried out by three experts with very decent results, namely 98% media experts, 97% linguists, and 95% learning experts. Implementation trials showed a significant increase in student engagement, with participation increasing by up to 85% compared to conventional learning, and communication skills increasing by 92%. The implications of this research emphasize the effectiveness of SSI-based modules in enhancing learning quality, strengthening student engagement, and integrating Islamic values with critical thinking and communication skills. This model can support innovative and character-based learning in primary education. Future research may expand implementation to different contexts, introduce more complex SSI themes, and evaluate long-term impacts on students’ moral and critical reasoning development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of teacher training programs in implementing the Love-Based Curriculum (KBC) in Islamic Elementary Schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) as an effort to strengthen teachers' pedagogical, affective, and implementative competencies in humanistic and compassionate learning. The Love-Based Curriculum is an Islamic educational innovation that places compassion, empathy, and care as the main foundation of the learning process to shape the holistic and reflective character of students. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review and synthesis of empirical findings from recent studies on teacher training related to the KBC. The results of the study indicate that structured and sustainable training programs play a significant role in improving teachers' understanding of the principles of the KBC, relevant learning strategies, and their ability to internalize the value of compassion in classroom practice. However, the main challenges remain the limitations of intensive training, adequate learning resources, and support for implementation policies at the school level. The implications of these findings indicate that strengthening teacher capacity through various training programs is a key element in the successful implementation of the KBC in Islamic Elementary Schools, as well as being an important foundation for the development of more humanistic and meaningful student character.

Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to examine how Islamic ecotheology is constructed within political Islamic movements in Indonesia, particularly focusing on the rise of green radicalism. It explores how Qur’anic ecological verses are politicized by radical groups to criticize democracy and promote the caliphate system. Theoretical framework: The study uses Althusser’s ideology theory and Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis to analyze how ecological narratives are politicized. It also introduces the Radical Ideological Ecotheological (EIR) Model, combining maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah and SDGs frameworks. Literature review: A systematic review of 42 articles highlights the politicization of Qur’anic ecological verses by political groups and the intersection of Islamic ecotheology with global sustainability discussions. Method: The study employs a systematic literature review (SLR) of 42 articles, using Althusser’s ideology theory and Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis to analyze how radical movements utilize ecological narratives. Result: Radical groups selectively use Qur’anic ecological verses to criticize democracy and advocate for a caliphate. The study introduces the Radical Ideological Ecotheological (EIR) Model, which integrates Islamic law objectives (maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah) with the SDGs framework. Implications: The study suggests practical ways to strengthen ecological literacy in Islamic education, promoting an understanding of Islamic teachings on ecology within the global sustainability discourse. Novelty: The introduction of the Radical Ideological Ecotheological (EIR) Model and the integration of Islamic ecotheology with the SDGs framework offer a new perspective on how radical movements politicize Islamic teachings on ecology.

Abstract

Student motivation to learn is often the main challenge in the learning process, seen from students' lack of attention to the material presented, low active participation, and reluctance to complete assignments. Effective education requires a creative, active, and contextual approach to creating meaningful learning experiences. One potential approach is to utilize the school environment as a learning resource. The school environment, such as parks, gardens, play facilities, and other elements, can be a real and contextual learning medium, allowing students to connect theory with practice. This research aims to analyze the implementation of the use of the school environment in increasing MI students' learning motivation in science subjects, especially environmental material. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, where data is collected through literature studies from various sources such as books, journals and scientific articles. The research results show that the school environment can be used to improve students' cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills, while making learning more enjoyable and effective. Environment-based learning also helps students understand science material, such as healthy and unhealthy environments, more easily. However, there are challenges in its implementation, such as limited school facilities and lack of teacher creativity. This research recommends strategies to maximize the positive impact of using the school environment in supporting student learning motivation holistically.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The rapid advancement of technology has influenced village communities, leading to a gradual loss of identity and neglect of local culture, customs, and wisdom, as foreign cultures become more favored. This study aims to explore the procession and religious values embedded in the cow birthday tradition in Tegalagung Village, Semanding District, Tuban Regency. Methodology: This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The sample is selected using purposive sampling, involving respondents such as religious leaders, community figures, and Tegalagung village officials. Data collection methods include interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis involves data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. Main Findings: The cow birthday tradition involves a series of activities starting with the preparation of ketupat (rice cakes wrapped in palm leaves or janur). Neighbors gather at the cowshed, followed by a communal prayer. The cow is then decorated with ketupat sungu and ketupat kepal, and the ketupat is distributed. Novelty/Originality of the Study: This study offers a unique perspective by examining the intersection of indigenous traditions and religious values. It highlights how rural communities maintain religious awareness through cultural practices. The findings suggest that preserving such traditions, in harmony with modern religious understanding, can strengthen community bonds and spiritual consciousness. Future research may explore similar traditions in different cultural settings.

Abstract

This study develops a conceptual model of GLOCAREEN, a glocal character and environmental education framework grounded in Madurese local wisdom for primary schools. The study addresses the limited integration between global environmental education frameworks and culturally rooted pedagogical practices in primary education. A conceptual qualitative approach was employed through reflective synthesis and thematic analysis of academic literature published between 2018 and 2025, combined with interpretive analysis of Madurese cultural values such as rokat tase’, gotong royong, and the moral philosophy of ta’ abhenta pote mata and abhenta pote tolang. The findings indicate that glocal education enables the integration of global sustainability principles with local ethical systems, resulting in contextual learning experiences that strengthen students’ ecological awareness and character development. The GLOCAREEN model consists of three core dimensions: global environmental awareness, local cultural embodiment, and hybrid pedagogy. This model contributes theoretically to educational glocalization discourse and pedagogically to the design of contextual environmental learning in primary education.
