Abstract

Hospitals play a strategic role in supporting promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health efforts. The Emergency Department (ED) and Radiology Unit are critical services that directly affect the speed and accuracy of diagnosis, especially in emergency cases. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of these two units using a Lean Management approach. A systematic literature review was conducted through databases including Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar using the keywords “emergency department,” “radiology,” and “lean management.” Inclusion criteria consisted of English- and Indonesian-language articles published between 2015 and 2024. Article selection followed the PRISMA guidelines. A total of 250 records were initially identified, with 10 high-quality articles ultimately meeting all inclusion and quality appraisal criteria for analysis. Findings indicate that Lean Management effectively identifies process waste, particularly prolonged patient waiting times and delays in radiology reporting. Techniques such as Value Stream Mapping and Root Cause Analysis were found to streamline workflows and reduce non-productive time. The implementation of Lean Management significantly enhances the efficiency of radiology services in emergency settings by optimizing processes and minimizing waste. Continuous outcome monitoring, regular training, multidisciplinary collaboration, and information technology integration are essential to ensure sustainable and system-wide improvements.

Abstract

Maternal trust in antenatal care (ANC) influences visit adherence, acceptance of clinical recommendations, and the overall pregnancy experience. Basic obstetric ultrasonography (USG) is a core component of ANC. Objective: To map 2020–2024 evidence on the implementation of basic obstetric ultrasound and its effects on maternal trust and satisfaction. Methods: Scoping review following Arksey & O’Malley and Levac frameworks, reported with PRISMA-ScR. Searches were conducted in PubMed/PMC, Wiley/Elsevier, SpringerOpen, and curated Indonesian national journals (Google Scholar). Inclusion criteria: studies (2020–2024) on pregnant women/ANC providers with outcomes on trust, satisfaction, or knowledge–attitudes toward ultrasound. Results: Of 1,126 records, 912 remained after removing duplicates; 74 full texts were assessed, and 20 articles were included. Three themes emerged: (1) ultrasound increases perceived quality and reassurance, thereby strengthening trust; (2) operator capacity (including midwives) and communication of results shape trust—equivocal findings can provoke anxiety when communication is insufficient; (3) access to portable/handheld devices and rural services enhances acceptability and perceived reliability. Conclusion: Timely, competent, and well-communicated basic obstetric ultrasound can strengthen maternal trust in ANC. Programs should ensure operator competence, standardized result communication, and clear referral pathways.

Abstract

In an effort to provide optimal service, hospitals must consider quality standards involving medical and non-medical aspects. Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-majority country, faces demand to integrate Islamic values into health care. Although the number of Islamic hospitals continues to grow, there are still challenges in understanding and implementing the quality of Islamic services consistently. This study aims to determine the dimensions of Islamic service quality and its relationship with patient satisfaction in hospitals. This study used the scoping review method with reference to PRISMA guidelines. Article searches were conducted on Google Scholar with the keywords "Islamic Hospital" OR "Sharia Hospital" AND "Quality" OR "Patient Satisfaction". The articles included in the search were then filtered by title and abstract, with inclusion and exclusion criteria limited to the last 10-year period (2014-2023), resulting in 10 articles. Key findings included aspects such as factors affecting patient satisfaction, influence of image and service quality, implementation of sharia quality indicators, and effectiveness of Islamic-based care training. These findings provide valuable insights into the dimensions of Islamic service quality and their impact on patient satisfaction in hospitals. This study described the dimensions of service quality in the context of Islamic hospitals, focusing on Servqual (Responsiveness, Assurance, Empathy, Tangibles, and Reliability). Other factors that affected patient satisfaction were effective communication, hospital image, and implementation of Islamic principles in health services to patients. Islamic hospitals need to prioritise service quality with ServQual, Islamic principles, Islamic-based training, spiritual readiness, sharia supervision, and Islamic-based health service SOPs to improve patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Health is a very vital aspect of human life, and the role of nurses is very central in providing quality health services. Nurses must not only have high levels of clinical competency but must also operate in a supportive, positive, and inclusive work environment. However, understanding of the impact of work climate on nurse performance is still limited, especially in hospital environments and health care facilities. This study aims to explore the influence of work climate on nurse performance in the context of health services. The scoping review method was used to identify and summarize relevant literature. We searched for articles from the Google Scholar database and the Garuda Portal from January 2018 to September 2023 using the keywords ‘work climate’ OR ‘performance’ AND ‘nurse performance.’ Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to select appropriate articles, and finally, we analyzed the findings of seven articles that met these criteria. The research results show that work climate has a significant impact on nurse performance in various hospital contexts. This finding is strengthened by previous studies that confirm that a positive work environment can increase nurses' motivation and performance.
