Abstract

East Lampung has more than 80% of business units in the micro, small and medium industry sector, including livestock businesses. East Lampung produces 173,576 goats per year spread across twenty-four sub-districts. The monitored community activities aim to utilize an organized community. The community has assets to realize economic independence through a goat livestock program that makes probiotic feed from clean water, yakult, tempeh yeast, brown sugar and old coconut water. Monitoring uses the ABCD (asset-based community development) method, so that it can develop assets owned by the community so that they can be economically independent and improve community welfare. The results achieved are strengthening the capacity of goat farmers' skills in making probiotic feed and producing community economic welfare and sustainable food security.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini dilakukan selama tiga hari uji coba dengan tiga strategi utama: identity-based habit, set a clear time and place, dan use visual cues.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of cassava farming communities in Surabaya Baru, Central Lampung, through vocational education focused on the development of value-added cassava-based products. Cassava, a staple crop in the region, has long been sold primarily in raw form, resulting in limited income and low market competitiveness for farmers. The implemented program utilized a participatory and hands-on training model covering technical skills in cassava processing (e.g., into mocaf flour, chips, cakes, and other innovative foods), food safety, business management, and digital marketing strategies. As a result, participants successfully produced a range of processed cassava products that met hygiene and packaging standards, significantly increasing their monthly income from IDR 3,500,000 to IDR 6,000,000. Moreover, the training fostered entrepreneurial mindsets and improved community solidarity, particularly among women. Challenges included limited access to modern processing equipment and the need for consistent product quality and marketing support. Nevertheless, this initiative demonstrated the transformative potential of vocational education in empowering rural communities through local agro-processing innovations, contributing to economic development, food security, and sustainable agribusiness practices. Keywords: agribusiness development, cassava processing, rural community empowerment, value-added products, vocational education.

Abstract

Corn is a strategic agricultural commodity with high economic potential, particularly for rural communities in Indonesia. However, many corn farmers still lack basic skills in managing their farming enterprises as professional business units. Most of them focus solely on production without proper financial planning, risk analysis, or marketing strategies. This community service project was conducted in Karang Rejo Village, Central Lampung, with the primary objective of improving farmers’ capacity to develop structured and realistic farm business plans. The activity applied the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which emphasizes the use of local assets such as farming knowledge, land, social capital, and market access to promote sustainable community empowerment. The program consisted of participatory training, focused group discussions, and hands-on mentoring over three intensive sessions, followed by individual consultations. Training materials included SWOT analysis, cost–benefit calculations, business goal setting, and financial projections tailored to corn farming. Evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests showed that 75% of the participants improved their understanding and ability to develop business plans. In addition, 19 out of 22 farmers successfully completed a basic business plan independently by the end of the program. The results demonstrate that empowering farmers through context-based andragogical methods is effective in strengthening managerial skills and promoting a shift from traditional to entrepreneurial farming mindsets. This initiative also aligns with national agricultural modernization goals and provides a replicable model for other farming communities. Continued support and collaboration with local stakeholders are recommended to ensure the sustainability of the outcomes. Keywords: corn farming, business plan, rural empowerment, ABCD approach, agricultural extension, community engagement

Abstract

This study aims to examine respondents' perceptions of various aspects of vocational education in supporting community skill development. The research involved seven key variables: skill-based curriculum, availability of training facilities, quality of instructors, practical and applicable learning methods, internship or field practice programs, collaboration with local stakeholders, and alignment of training with local needs. The results show that the majority of respondents rated the quality of instructors (93.3%), practical learning methods (86.7%), and training relevance to local needs (83.3%) as good. However, lower satisfaction was found in the availability of training facilities (60.0%), internship programs (60.0%), and stakeholder collaboration (66.7%). These findings indicate that vocational education has a positive impact on enhancing local human resources, but improvements are still needed in infrastructure and partnerships with the industry to increase its effectiveness and sustainability.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of digital learning in vocational agricultural education, focusing on its challenges and opportunities at SMK Pertanian Alam Nusantara in Central Lampung Regency, Indonesia. As the global education landscape undergoes digital transformation, vocational schools are expected to adapt to ensure that students acquire relevant competencies for the 21st century. This qualitative research employed descriptive methods through observations, interviews, and documentation to analyze the dynamics of digital learning implementation. The findings revealed several key challenges, including limited infrastructure, low digital literacy among teachers and students, and unstable internet connectivity. However, these obstacles were counterbalanced by significant opportunities such as increased student learning autonomy, the transformation of teacher roles into facilitators, and the development of virtual collaborations with industries. The integration of digital platforms also supported the contextualization of learning materials and the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. In conclusion, while challenges remain, digital learning integration in vocational agribusiness education offers strategic benefits for enhancing the quality and relevance of learning. It requires long-term commitment, strong policy support, and collaboration among schools, industries, and government to build a sustainable digital learning ecosystem

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of farmers in Yosodadi Village through a vocational education program designed to support agribusiness diversification. The main problem faced by the assisted community is their dependence on monoculture farming and the lack of technical and entrepreneurial skills to develop alternative agribusiness opportunities. Using the Community-Based Research (CBR) approach, the program involved farmers in all stages of the process, from problem identification to implementation and evaluation. A series of participatory activities were conducted, including horticulture training, agricultural product processing workshops, entrepreneurship sessions, and the establishment of a demonstration plot. The results show that 10 new agribusiness units were formed, farmer awareness of record-keeping and business planning increased, and local leadership began to emerge among younger farmers. This program not only improved technical skills but also encouraged social transformation through the strengthening of group institutions and the development of a collaborative culture. The findings confirm that integrating vocational education with community empowerment can effectively address structural challenges in rural agriculture. Keywords: Farmer Capacity

Abstract

ABSTRACT The cultivation training for Inthanon melon variety using greenhouse and Internet of Things (IoT) technology was conducted at Nurul Fattah Islamic Boarding School in Tulang Bawang as part of a community service program applying the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. This activity aimed to enhance the capacity of students and staff in cultivating melons using modern and sustainable practices. The PAR method was implemented through four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The training included the delivery of cultivation materials, seedling and plant maintenance practices, the use of automated irrigation systems, measurement of fruit sweetness using a Brix meter, and harvesting with a self-pick agro-tourism approach. Results showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding; out of 15 participants, only 33% answered the pre-test correctly, while the post-test success rate increased to 87%. Innovations such as IoT utilization and direct marketing strategies proved effective in supporting the sustainability of the boarding school’s agribusiness. This activity had a positive impact on pesantren economic development and serves as a replicable model of adaptive and educational community-based agribusiness.
