Abstract

Important for vocational students to achieve psychological well-being amidst technological developments that increase self-critical behaviour. Information overload, increased self-com, and other psychological health issues can increase self-critical behaviour. This can hinder the achievement of the six dimensions of psychological well-being. So, it is necessary to know the correlation between these two variables in vocational students. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-criticism on psychological well-being in vocational students. A total of 1812 students were included, and participants completed assessments of self‐criticism and psychological well-being. The result is self-criticism and psychological well-being is in a medium category with scores M = 60.34; SD = 2.86 and M = 118.48; SD = 2.53 sequentially. Analyses assessed the extent to which the intercept and linear slope of self‐criticism were associated with assessments of psychological well‐being. Findings suggest that a decrease in self-criticism is associated with better psychological well-being in vocational students. There was a relationship between self-criticism and psychological well-being. The implication of this finding suggests applying intervention with a focus on reducing self-criticism to improve student’s psychological well-being.

Abstract

Microplastics in the Central Citarum River, Karawang, West Java, originate from anthropogenic activities of people living around the watershed, which is an industrial, agricultural, and densely populated residential area. Microplastics are degraded plastics < 5 mm in size. This study aims to determine the abundance and size of microplastics in the Middle Citarum River, through observation with a microscope. Sampling was conducted at three locations with three observations: February, March, and April 2022. The types of microplastics found were pellets, films, fibers, and fragments. Microplastic particle size < 0.3 mm was the most common size found. The abundance of microplastics in the water of the Middle section of the Citarum River is different at each sampling location. The total number of microplastic particles in all research locations was 4,413 particles. The highest abundance of microplastics in all sampling locations was in densely populated residential areas at 239.7 ± 326.7 particles/m3 , followed by agricultural areas with an abundance of 72.5 ± 63.8 particles/m3 , then the lowest abundance was in industrial areas at 55.6 ± 57.8 particles/m3. The average abundance of microplastics in the middle Citarum River water was 122.6 ± 209.7 particles/m3. Statistical analysis using Kruskall Wallis with a df value of 2 > 0.05 showed no significant difference in microplastic abundance at each research location. All stations had the same potential for microplastic pollution. This study shows that high anthropogenic activities lead to high microplastic pollution in water. Therefore, proper mitigation and management of waste and plastic waste are needed.

A total of 12 articles were selected that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results showed various game variants that can be used as mental health interventions, including smartphone-based games, virtual reality (VR), board games, and role-playing games. The impact of game use included reduced depression and anxiety symptoms, improved social-emotional skills, and improved adolescent cognitive functioning. The study emphasizes the crucial role of collaboration between schools, families, and communities to develop gaming programs for students at risk of mental health problems, making the audience feel the importance of their collective efforts in addressing this issue.

Abstract

Some Western counseling approaches are not applicable in local cultures. Consequently, counselors have to accommodate the local culture to improve the efficacy of their services. This research aims to formulate indigenous counseling based on the Javanese culture of Dasa Pitutur from Sunan Kalijaga. It used the hermeneutic method with discourse analysis to interpret the messages’ structure and pragmatic. The analysis result signifies that the Dasa Pitutur values are relevant with the other group orientation. The primary message taught in Dasa Pitutur is encouraging humans to comprehend their life journey and position to willingly and voluntarily accept their obligations and nature. Linear to their position as a social creature, they have to be aware of the essential values from their relationship, dependency, and appreciation toward other humans. This study can be an enrichment material of cultural values-based guidance and counseling science.
