Abstract

Hospitals are public service delivery organizations that have responsibility for every health service, including preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative services. Hospital activities last 24 hours and involve various activities of many people so that they have the potential to produce large amounts of waste. This research aims to determine the Management of Medical Solid Waste Management at the Waibakul Regional General Hospital, Central Sumba Regency in 2023. This type of research is descriptive research with a survey method. The sample size is 10 people who are directly responsible for the process of managing medical solid waste in hospitals. The variables studied are management people/staff, funds, facilities, and infrastructure as well as medical solid waste management methods. The results of the research show that the existing medical solid waste management people are not sufficient in terms of quality, namely inadequate educational status, lack of knowledge/experience lack of training, and insufficient in terms of quantity, namely insufficient incinerator personnel. The source of funds (money) in managing medical solid waste in hospitals is considered insufficient so the procurement of facilities and infrastructure to support medical solid waste processing, operational costs, and costs for repairing infrastructure are still insufficient so that the management of medical solid waste in hospitals is less than optimal. Existing facilities and infrastructure (machines) cannot yet adapt to all the waste produced by hospitals and do not meet the requirements. The method for managing medical solid waste in hospitals has gone through a waste management process by the standards of the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation No. 7 of 2019 concerning Hospital Environmental Health which starts from the process of sorting, containing, transporting, storing, and processing or destroying medical solid waste.

Abstract

Adolescence is a period when individuals begin to pay more attention to their physical condition, which is known as body image. Body image is defined as an individual's perception of how satisfied and accepting they are of their physical appearance, which is influenced by their own perceptions. Self-esteem is the result of an individual's evaluation of themselves, expressed in their attitudes and acceptance of their qualities. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between body image and self-esteem among female psychology students at Nusa Cendana University, involving 156 female participants. This study employed a quantitative research method through the distribution of questionnaires. The hypothesis test found a significance value of 0.006 < 0.05, which means that the study indicates a relationship between body image and self-esteem among female students. Students with a better perception of their body image tend to show positive emotional responses, including self-esteem.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and academic stress among scholarship recipients. The research employed a quantitative correlational approach with 165 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were a social support scale based on Sarafino’s theory, which includes four dimensions, and an academic stress scale developed by Bedewy and Gabriel. Data analysis showed that all dimensions of social support were negatively correlated with academic stress. The results also indicated that emotional support and informational support were perceived as the most beneficial in helping students cope with academic pressure. However, the strength of the correlations ranged from weak to moderate, suggesting that academic stress is also influenced by other factors such as intrinsic motivation, emotion regulation, and time-management skills. These findings highlight the importance of social support as a protective factor, while also emphasizing that academic stress management interventions should include strengthening students’ internal factors as well as institutional support from the faculty.
