Abstract

The protective effects of isolated compounds of ethylacetate fraction of surian's leaf (Toona sureni BL Merr) towards endothelial cell dysfunction on hypercholesterolemia have been investigated. Hypercholesterolemia was induced by atherogenic cocktail for the duration of 60 days. The protective effect was determined by Endothelia Derivate Relaxing Factor 9EDRF/NO) concentration. The result showed that isolated compounds oe ethyl acetate fraction of surian's leaf was able to protect the endothelia cell damage in hypercholesterolemia that can be seenn by increasing the bioavailability of NO serum (P<0.05).Keywords : flavonoid, cocktail, hypercholesterol and nitrogen mono oxide (EDRF)

Abstract

The effect of aethanolic extract of mahakaan's (Gynura pseudochina (L) DC tuber on shortening bleeding and coagulation time and trombocytes cell of the white female mice has been studied. The overal doses used were 30,100 and 300 mg/kg BW. The effect was observed on 1st, 7th, 14th and 21st days by using the modified cutting tail method, slide method and using hemositometer. As a comparator used vitamin K with dose of 0,026 mg/20g BW was given. The result indicated that the extract has ability to shorten bleeding and coagulation time at all doses, and the dose of 300 mg/kg BW showed a stronger effect on shortening bleeding time compared to vitamin K 0,026 mg/20g BW (p<0,01). The doses of 100 and 300 mg/BW showed a stronger effect on shortening coagulation time. The thrombocytes was not influenced by the all doses, and neither was the lenght of the administration (p>0,01). keywords : Gynura pseudochina (L.) Abstract

In this study a High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) has been used for determination of rubraxanton on bark extracts Garcinia spp (Garcinia mangostana, Garcinia Cowa, Garcinia griffitii, Garcinia dioica and Garcinia forbesii). HPLC system consisted of C-18 reversed phase column with a length of 250 mm, diameter 4.6 mm, 20 mL injection volume, mobile phase methanol: water (gradient system with polarity) and flow rate of 1ml/min. Rubraxanton levels obtained in this study; 9.161% for G.mangostana, 6.942% for G.cowa, 6.762% for G.dioica, 0.499% for G.forbesii and 0.229% for G.griffitii. The method has been validated for specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantitation (LOQ). The linearity of the method can be seen from the regression coefficient r=0.9996 with a linearity range from 1.72 to 55 ug/ml. Recovery of rubraxanton in the extract of G.mangostana was between 99.61 to 101.08%. Intra and inter day precision showed relatively small level of standard deviation (lower than 2%). Limit Of Detection (LOD) and Limit Of Quantitation (LOQ) are 0.55 ug/ml and 1.82 ug/ml respectively.Keywords : rubraxanton, bark extracts, Garcinia spp.

Abstract

A cytotoxic compound was isolated from n-hexane the stem bark of Garcinia griffithii T. Anders. (Guttiferae) as colourless needles from which melted at 242-243oC. Based on spectroscopies data of this compound was identified as isoxanthocymol. Cytotoxic assay using Microculture Tetrazolium (MTT) assay showed that isoxanthocymol was active against breast cancer cell line MCF-7, with IC50 value 35,46 μg/ml.   ABSTRAK Telah diisolasi senyawa sitotoksik dari kulit batang Garcinia griffithii T. Anders. (Guttiferae). Senyawa diisolasi dari fraksi n-heksana berupa amorf tidak berwarna dengan jarak leleh 242-2430C. Dari data spektroskopi massa, 1H-RMI, 13C-RMI, diketahui bahwa senyawa tersebut adalah isoxanthocymol. Pengujian aktifitas sitotoksik isoxanthocymol dilakukan dengan metode Microculture Tetrazolium (MTT) terhadap sel kanker payudara MCF-7, dan memperlihatkan aktifitas dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 35,46 μg/ml.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan formulasi pasta gigi ekstrak gambir terstandarisasi serta uji daya antimikrobanya terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri penyebab plak Streptococcus mutans. Uji pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak gambir terstandarisasi pada kadar 7% memiliki diameter hambat optimal terhadap pertumbuhan mikroba uji. Berdasarkan ini dibuat 3 formula pasta gigi dengan kadar ekstrak gambir terstandarisasi sebesar 7% dengan kosentrasi kalsium karbonat (abrasif) yang bervariasi, berturut-turut 37, 42 dan 47%. Semua formula diuji sifat-sifat farmasetik dan aktivitas antimikrobanya, sebagai pembanding digunakan pasta gigi â??Fâ?. Hasil evaluasi sifat farmasetika sediaan menunjukkan semua formula memenuhi persyaratan pastagigi yang baik.  Formula 3 (F3) memberikan diameter hambat paling baik (19,25 + 0,50 mm), sedangkan pembanding â??Fâ? memberikan diameter hambat (20,0 + 0,00 mm).  Terdapat perbedaan bermakna diameter hambat antar perlakuan (basis versus pasta gigi ekstrak gambir) pada taraf kepercayaan  0,05.   ABSTRACT A toothpaste containing standardized gambir extract had been formulated and an antimicrobial assay of the toothpaste against Streptococcus mutans had been done. Preliminary study showed that the concentration of gambir extract of 7 % obtained an optimal range of inhibition of S. mutans growth. Three formulas were then prepared, which contained 7 % extract and various concentrations of calcium carbonate (37, 42 and 47 % respectively). The formulas were subjected to evaluation procedures including the pharmaceutical properties and the antimicrobial activity in comparison to commercial formula â??Fâ?. Results indicated that all formulas had good pharmaceutical properties. F3 showed the best inhibition against the growth of S mutans (diameter of inhibition =  19,25 + 0,50 mm) while that of the commercial toothpaste â??Fâ? was (20,0 + 0,00 mm) , which was significantly different from that of the toothpaste  base at probability 0.05.

Abstract

Rhodomyrtone, an antibacterial constituent was isolated from the active fraction of theleaves extract of Karamuntiang, Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Aiton) Hassk. In this presentstudy, the topical cream formula of rhodomyrtone 2% in vanishing cream was evaluated byin vitro and in vivo preclinical test. The in vitro test was peformed against Staphylococcusaureus ATTC 6538 and Staphylococcus epidermidis ATTC 12228 by using disk agardiffusion method, while the in vivo test was evaluated on the surface of skin infection area ofthe rabbit caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Both these tests were guided bychloromphenicol 2% cream as a comparison. The topical cream of rhodomyrtone 2% invanishing cream showed diameters of inhibition zones of 15 mm and 26 mm towardStaphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis respectively. These diffusions werelower than inhibition zones of chloromphenicol 2% cream which has 30 mm and 32 mm forthe same bacterias in the same condition. The in vivo test showed that rhodomyrtone 2%topical cream can reduced that skin infection and did not caused irritation on the testedrabbits.ABSTRAKRhodomyrtone adalah suatu konstituen antibakteri fraksi aktif ekstrak daun karamuntiang,Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Ait) Hassk. Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan uji preklinisterhadap krim sediaan topikal Rhodomyrtone 2% dalam vanishing cream. Uji preklinissecara in vitro menggunakan media agar dan Staphylococcus aureus ATTC 6538 danStaphylococcus epidermidis 12228 sebagai bakteri uji, sedangkan secara in-vivo dilakukanterhadap kulit pada kelinci yang di infeksi dengan Staphylococcus aureus. Kedua uji inimenggunakan krim kloromfenikol 2% sebagai pembanding. Krim sediaan topikalrhodomyrtone 2% dengan basis vanishing cream memberikan diameter hambatan berturutturut15 mm dan 26 mm terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis.Difusi ini lebih rendah dibanding sediaan krim kloromfenikol 2% yang memberikan diameterhambatan 30 mm dan 32 mm, masing-masing untuk Staphylococcus aureus danStaphylococcus epidermidis pada kondisi yang sama. Selanjutnya uji secara in vivomenunjukkan bahwa krim sediaan topikal rhodomyrtone 2% dapat mengurangi infeksi kulitdan tidak menimbulkan iritasi pada kelinci percobaan.

Abstract

Kinerja perawat merupakan hasil yang dicapai dalam melaksanakan asuhan keperawatan di rumah sakit. Terciptanya asuhan keperawatan yang optimal sangat diperlukan dukungan dari pihak rumah sakit salah satunya adalah menciptakan kualitas kehidupan kerja baik bagi perawat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kualitas kehidupan kerja terhadap kinerja perawat pelaksana di RSUD Teluk Kuantan. Jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Jumlah sampel 120 responden yang diperoleh melalui proportionate simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kualitas kehidupan kerja perawat RSUD Teluk Kuantan berada pada kategori sedang, kinerja perawat berada pada kategori kurang baik. Berdasarkan analisis kedua variabel teridentifikasi bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara kualitas kehidupan kerja dengan kinerja perawat pelaksana dengan&nbsp; p value 0,817. Dimensi work context merupakan komponen yang memiliki hubungan dengan kinerja perawat pelaksana dengan p value 0,008, dimensi work life&nbsp; tidak berhubungan secara signifikan dengan kinerja perawat. Kesimpulan penelitian diketahui tidak ada hubungan antara kualitas kehidupan kerja dengan kinerja perawat pelaksana. Ada hubungan dimensi work context dengan kinerja perawat pelaksana. Tidak ada hubungan dimensi work life dengan kinerja perawat. &nbsp; Kata kunci: kualitas kehidupan kerja, kinerja, perawat pelaksana &nbsp; THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE QUALITY OF WORK LIFE AND THE PERFORMANCE OF IMPLEMENTERS NURSES &nbsp; ABSTRACT Nurse performance is the result achieved in implementing nursing care in a hospital. The creation of optimal nursing care is very much needed support from the hospital, one of which is to create a good quality of work life for nurses. This study aims to determine the relationship between the quality of work life and the performance of nurses at the Kuantan District Hospital. This type of quantitative research with cross sectional approach. The number of samples of 120 respondents obtained through proportionate simple random sampling. The results showed that the quality of work life of nurses at the Kuantan District Hospital was in the medium category, the nurses' performance was in the unfavorable category. Based on the analysis of the two variables, it was identified that there was no relationship between the quality of work life with the performance of implementing nurses with a p value of 0.817. The work context dimension is a component that has a relationship with the performance of nurses implementing with p value 0.008, the dimension of work life does not significantly correlate with nurse performance. The conclusion of the research is that there is no relationship between the quality of work life and the performance of the implementing nurses. There is a relationship between the dimensions of the work context and the performance of the nurses.
