The purpose of this article was to analyze the pattern of interaction in the EFL learning classroom. Observation, field notes, transcription, and a semi-structured interview were used to collect data. One teacher and thirty students participated in this study to analyze the typical interaction that they have in the classroom and the cause for that interaction. The study's findings were presented in the form of a description and interpretations of the interaction. The results showed that both teacher and learners admitted that they have interaction between students and teacher and also students and other students. Teacher and students realize that interaction in the EFL classroom is important, however the reason behind the interaction is various. The interview shows that the interaction that initiated by teacher are lecturing, checking the students, understanding, grabbing students attention, checking the students attendance, giving praises or encourages, asking questions and opinion, giving direction, reminding material. The kind of interaction that students do are discussing the material, asking and answering questions, and silent or body movements.

Abstract

DeepL Translators are one form of technology that is developing today. The use of technology has a positive impact on the language learning process. Most students make mistakes in writing. DeepL Translator is a translation machine that can be utilised to help with writing. Therefore, a researcher examined the role of DeepL Translator in the language learning process, especially in writing revision. While there have been several studies on machine translation in writing, few have examined the impact of DeepL Translator on the writing of EFL students who use DeepL Translator. A study conducted with second semester English Language Education students at a university in North Sumatra in 2024 involved 27 students as a sample, with four being interviewed about their use of DeepL Translator in their writing revision. The research design used mixed methods with an explanatory sequential strategy. The study included analyses of writing tasks and interviews. Writing tasks were assessed using SPSS 29 with a paired t-test at the 5% significance level, which showed a significant increase in scores <0.001. The interviews, which were then analysed using the Miles and Huberman interactive approach, showed the positive impact of using DeepL Translator. The students reported improved text quality, better errors, and convenience of use. In addition, DeepL Translator also supported students' writing strategies during revision. The students re-examined and utilised prior knowledge while revising their texts. However, they also noted challenges encountered, especially with specialised terms and different contexts than usual. Although DeepL has improved the quality of their writing, careful review of the translations remains important.

Abstract

Abstract

This article digs into the special issues of English-Indonesia translation, concentrating on the complex world of idiomatic phrases. Idioms, which are firmly ingrained in cultural nuances and linguistic complexity, provide a substantial challenge for automatic translation systems. The aims of this study is to examine morphological faults in translated texts using English idiom phrases translated by the Google Translate translation system. A qualitative research design with content analysis is used in this study. Discourse analysis is used in this study, and the research subjects are documents that were gathered from websites by researchers. The study employed document analysis as a means of data collecting by the researcher. By comparing the data to earlier studies on translation and morphology and examining mistakes in grasping idiomatic meaning, the researchers examined the data.  According to the findings of the study, there are three translation methods. Based on the morphology of the translation machine, there are eight GT translation errors. The study's findings give Google Translate valuable insight into the need for idiom translations to include additional morphological explanations in order to increase precision and to be revisited within the framework of morphological science.Keyword : Google Translate, English “ Indonesian Translation,  Morphology, English Idiom
