Abstract

The fact that many students still struggle with mathematical concepts like the material of curved side space is what spurred this research. This study set out to investigate the errors that students make when applying Newman's technique to narrative problems with curved side spaces. Methodology for descriptive qualitative research is used. Three students who reside in the village of Radug were selected as samples using the purposive sampling technique from a population of all students who had studied the Constructing Curved Side Space content. Tests, field notes, observations, and interviews are just a few of the data collection procedures used. The steps of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion are the data analysis technique used. According to the study's findings, there were 16% reading errors, 50% problem understanding errors, 33% transformation errors, 55% process skills faults, and 59% writing errors in the final answer. Problem-solving is still a joint task that must be solved, so there is a need for other research that can help analyze mathematical errors. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih banyaknya siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami ide-ide dasar matematika, termasuk ruang sisi lengkung. Penelitian ini melihat kesalahan yang dibuat siswa saat memanfaatkan proses Newman untuk menyelesaikan cerita ruang sisi lengkung. Metodologi penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Purposive sampling digunakan untuk mengambil tiga siswa dari desa Radug sebagai sampel dari populasi semua siswa yang sebelumnya telah mempelajari konten untuk Membangun Sisi Lengkung Ruang. Beberapa metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data meliputi tes, catatan, observasi, dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data meliputi tahapan reduksi data, penyajian, dan penarikan data. Menurut temuan penelitian, ada 16% kesalahan membaca, 50% kesalahan pemahaman masalah, 33% kesalahan transformasi, 55% kesalahan keterampilan proses, dan 59% kesalahan menulis dalam jawaban akhir. Pemecahan masalah masih menjadi tugas bersama yang harus diselesaikan, maka perlu adanya penelitian lain yang bisa membantu menganalisa kesalahan matematis.

Abstract

Beberapa penelitian menyatakan bahwa siswa SMP, SMA, maupun SMK memiliki kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yang rendah. Bagaimana matematika yang diajarkan di kelas, sedikit demi sedikit mempengaruhi kepercayaan siswa terhadap matematika sehingga belief siswa terhadap matematika dipengaruhi situasi pembelajaran di kelas.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis dan belief siswa pada materi persamaan dan pertidaksamaan linear. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode analisis deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII yang berada di Desa Wanakerta berjumlah 7 orang siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis, angket belief, wawancara, dan catatan lapangan. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa termasuk kategori sedang dengan persentase sebesar 58% dan belief siswa termasuk kategori baik dengan persentase sebesar 76%.Several studies state that junior high, high school, and vocational high school students have low mathematical creative thinking skills. How mathematics is taught in class, little by little affects students' belief in mathematics so that students' belief in mathematics is influenced by learning situations in class. This study aims to determine students’ mathematical creative thinking skills and beliefs in the material of linear equations and inequalities. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research. The research. The research method used is the descriptive analysis method The subjects in this study were grade VIII students who were in Wanakerta Village, which numbered 7 students. The sampling technique in this study is a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used is a mathematical creative thinking skills test, belief questionnaire, interviews, and field notes. The data analysis techniques in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The result showed that students’ creative thinking skills were in the medium category with a percentage of 58% and students’ beliefs were in the good category with a percentage of 76%.

Abstract

AbstrakKemampuan siswa untuk memahami konsep lain tidak akan terhambat dengan pemahaman yang kuat terhadap satu konsep tertentu, terutama dalam matematika. Dalam hal ini, pemahaman yang buruk tentang materi tertentu akan menghasilkan miskonsepsi. Dalam upaya untuk mengatasi masalah ini dan membuat pembelajaran di kelas lebih berdampak, pendekatan pembelajaran Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dipilih. Berkaitan dengan miskonsepsi siswa pada materi pokok segi empat, penelitian ini berupaya mengevaluasi keefektifan pendekatan RME. Metode penelitian kualitatif diterapkan dalam penelitian ini. Diikuti 31 siswa kelas VII yang terdaftar di MTs Negeri 2 Garut tahun ajaran 2021-2022. Teknik pengumpulan datanya adalah ujian tertulis dengan uraian dan pilihan (benar-salah). Tiga tahapan teknik analisis data yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa dalam miskonsepsi siswa MTs tentang mata pelajaran segi empat, teknik RME dianggap sangat efektif.AbstractStudents' ability to understand other concepts won't be hampered by having a solid grasp of one particular concept, especially in mathematics. In this instance, a poor grasp of the subject will result in misunderstandings. In an effort to address this issue and make learning in the classroom more impactful, the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning strategy was chosen. In relation to students' misconceptions of the subject matter of quadrilaterals, this study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. Methods of qualitative research were applied in this study. 31 students in grades VII-E who were enrolled at MTs Negeri 2 Garut for the 2021–2022 academic year participated in the study. The testing method is a written exam with descriptions and choices (true-false). The three stages of the data analysis technique were data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The findings indicated that in terms of MT students' preconceptions regarding the subject of quadrilaterals, the RME technique was thought to be extremely effective.

Abstract

Keterampilan komunikasi dan efikasi diri merupakan dua hal penting dalam pembelajaran matematika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan keterampilan komunikasi matematis berdasarkan efikasi diri pada segitiga dan segiempat. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP di Kampung Sukatani, Desa Sirnajaya, Kecamatan Tarogong Kaler, Kabupaten Garut. Data dalam penelitian diperoleh dari tes, angket, wawancara, dan catatan lapangan. Teknik analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa efikasi diri siswa kelas VIII terbagi menjadi tiga yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Siswa dengan kategori efikasi diri tinggi memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang tinggi. Siswa dengan kategori efikasi diri memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang tergolong sedang. Siswa dengan kategori efikasi diri rendah memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang relatif rendah. Communication skills and self-efficacy are two important things in mathematics learning. This study aims to analyze and describe mathematical communication skills based on self-efficacy in the triangle and quadrilateral. This is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The subject of this study eight-grade students of junior high school in Kampung Sukatani, Desa Sirnajaya, Kecamatan Tarogong Kaler, Kabupaten Garut. The data in the study was obtained from tests, questionnaires, interviews, and field records. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the self-efficacy of grade VIII students was divided into three, namely high, medium, and low. Students with high self-efficacy categories have high mathematical communication skills. Students with the category of self-efficacy have mathematical communication skills that are classified as moderate, with low self-efficacy categories have relatively low mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Mathematics education is very important for survival, therefore students are expected to have good mathematical skills and attitudes, one of which is problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. The purpose of this study was to find out how the mathematical problem-solving ability of students in solving math problems on number pattern material and how the level of mathematical self-efficacy of class VIII students in Karamatwangi Village. The method used by the researcher is a qualitative research method. The sample in this study, namely class VIII B SMP IT Nurul Hidayah in Karamatwangi Village as many as 6 students based on predetermined categories, namely 2 people in the high category, 2 people in the medium category, and 2 people in the low category. The sampling technique used is the purposive sampling technique. The method of collecting problem-solving ability data is by providing several pattern material questions, conducting interviews, and documenting the results of the Final Semester Assessment, while the self-efficacy data collection method is by distributing questionnaires, conducting interviews, and making observations in field notes. The data analysis technique was carried out in several stages which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. From the results of the study, it was shown that the mathematical problem-solving ability of class VIII junior high school students on the material of Number Patterns in Karamatwangi Village was in the high category and the self-efficacy level of class VIII junior high school students was in the high category.

Abstract

In general, students’ problem solving skills tend to be in a low category, this is shown by the number of students who have not been able to complete diagnostic tests given in the form of routine and non-routine problems. One of the factors that affect students’ mathematical problem-solving skills is self-efficacy. This study aims to find out students’ mathematical problem-solving and self-efficacy skills in the material of a two-variable linar equation system. The type of research used in this study is qualitative research. The research method used is a descriptive analysis method. The subjects in this study were grade VIII students of the 2020/2021 school year who were in Pakuwon Subdistrict, Garut Subdistrict, Garut Regency which numbered 6 students. The sampling technique in this study is a purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques used are mathematical problem-solving skills tests, self-efficacy questionnaires, interviews, and field records. The data analysis techniques in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ problem-solving skills were at 75% with the high category and student self-efficacy was at 68% with the good category.

Abstract

AbstractMisconceptions often occur in students who have conceptually misunderstood. This study aim to identify the types of misconceptions and determine the causes of misconceptions in solving fraction operations. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of the research were grade VII students who were in Jati Village, Tarogong Kaler District, Garut Regency. The sampling technique of this research is purposive sampling. The data collection technique used is a matter of fractional arithmetic operations, interviews, and peer observation. The data analysis techniques of this research are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the types of students’ misconceptions were generalization, calculation, and notation. Misconceptions have a relationship with the level of problem-solving. The causes of misconceptions are students’ lack of interest in learning, students do not practice fraction counting operations, teachers often giving practice questions rather than concept learning, students’ memory is low, students’ inability to link everyday concepts into story questions, and students are not careful in doing their work. Abstrak Miskonsepsi sering terjadi pada siswa yang memiliki kesalahpahaman konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis miskonsepsi dan mengetahui penyebab miskonsepsi dalam menyelesaikan operasi pecahan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII di Desa Jati, Kecamatan Tarogong Kaler, Kabupaten Garut berjumlah 6 orang siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel penelitian ini adalah teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah soal operasi hitung pecahan, wawancara, dan observasi teman sejawat. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis miskonsepsi siswa yaitu penggeneralisasian, perhitungan, dan notasi. Miskonsepsi memiliki keterkaitan dengan tingkat penyelesaian masalah. Penyebab miskonsepsi yaitu minat belajar siswa kurang, siswa kurang berlatih operasi hitung pecahan, guru sering memberi latihan soal daripada pembelajaran konsep, daya ingat siswa rendah, ketidakmampuan siswa mengaitkan konsep sehari-hari kedalam bentuk soal cerita dan siswa tidak teliti dalam mengerjakan soal.

Abstract

Salah satu yang dapat mempengaruhi terbangunnya keterampilan berfikir kreatif adalah scientific attitudes seseorang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (a) Mendeskripsikan profil scientific attitudes mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan matematika, (b) Mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan matematika, (c) Menguji keterkaitan antara scientific attitudes dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa. Aspek kelancaran, aspek keaslian dan aspek kerincian termasuk kategori tinggi. Sedangkan aspek keluwesan termasuk pada kategori sedang. Bentuk penelitian menggunakan mixed methods dengan status sepadan yaitu menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sedangkan sampel penelitian adalah mahasiswa yang tidak mengulang pada mata kuliah penilaian proses dan hasil pembelajaran matematika tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik klaster random sampling. Pengujian hipotesis penelitian dengan menggunakan analisis korelasi Kendall Tau. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat keterkaitan yang erat antara scientific attitudes dengan kemampuan berfikir kreatif mahasiswa pada perkuliahan penilaian proses dan hasil belajar matematika. One that can affect the development of creative thinking skills is a person's scientific attitude. The aims of this study were (a) to describe the scientific attitude profile of students in the Mathematics Education Study Program, (b) to describe the creative thinking skills of students in the Mathematics Education Study Program, (c) to test the relationship between scientific attitudes and students' creative thinking skills. Aspects of fluency, aspects of creativity, and aspects of fact are included in the high category. In comparison, the aspect of flexibility is included in the medium category. This form of research uses mixed methods with commensurate status, namely using a qualitative descriptive approach and a quantitative approach. Meanwhile, the research sample was students who did not repeat the mathematics learning process and results in the 2022/2023 school year assessment course. Sampling using cluster random sampling technique. Testing the research hypothesis using Kendall Tau correlation analysis. The results of hypothesis testing show a close relationship between scientific attitudes and students' creative thinking abilities in the process assessment lectures and mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

One obstacle that occurs in the learning of junior high school students in solving complex and abstract problems is characterized by a misunderstanding of concepts (misconceptions). One effort to find out the misconception is to use the Four Tier Diagnostic Test (FTD Test). While the material used in this study is a comparison material that is synonymous with the concept of a comparison. This study aims to determine the type of misconception and causes of misconceptions experienced by students on comparison material using FTD Test. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were 5 Class VIII-D students of SMPN 1 Tarogong Kaler as many as 5 people were chosen using the Purposive Sampling method. The instruments used in this study were FTD Test sheets, interview guidelines, and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation, and data verification1/drawing conclusions. The results of this study students experience classification misconceptions, correlational misconceptions, and theoretical misconceptions. The cause of misconceptions in students is from their own students who do not understand the comparison material, the teacher's habit of giving routine practice questions, and is also influenced by learning online. Salah satu hambatan yang terjadi pada pembelajaran siswa SMP dalam memecahkan permasalahan yang kompleks dan abstrak ditandai dengan adanya kesalahpahaman konsep (miskonsepsi). Salah satu upaya untuk mengetahui adanya miskonsepsi adalah dengan menggunakan Four Tier Diagnostic Test (FTD Test). Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah materi perbandingan yang identik dengan konsep perbadingan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis miskonsepsi dan penyebab miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh siswa dengan menggunakan FTD Test. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriftif dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII-D SMPN 1 Tarogong Kaler sebanyak 5 orang yang dipilih dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Instrumen yang adalah lembar FTD Test, lembar pedoman wawancara, dan lembar observasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data/penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini siswa mengalami miskonsepsi klasifikasional, miskonsepsi korelasional, dan miskonsepsi teoritikal. Penyebab terjadinya miskonsepsi kurangnya memahami materi perbandingan, kebiasaan guru memberi soal latihan rutin, dan juga dipengaruhi oleh pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara daring.

Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan kemampuan yang harus dimiliki siswa, namun fakta dilapangan menunjukan kemampuan pemecahan masalah masih cukup rendah, khususnya dalam memecahkan masalah pada soal-soal tidak rutin. Perbedaan kemampuan awal siswa sangat berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan pemecahan masalah melalui proses planning, execution, dan revision siswa dengan kemampuan awal tinggi, sedang, dan rendah pada materi system persamaan linear dua variabel. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VIII-B SMPN 6 Garut yang berjumlah 6 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan awal, tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, wawancara, dan catatan lapangan. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwasiswa dengan kemampuan awal tinggi mampu dalam memecahkan masalah matematis pada proses planning, execution, dan revision. Siswa dengan kemampuan awal sedang mampu dalam memecahkan masalah matematis pada proses planning dan execution. Siswa dengan kemampuan awal rendah mampu dalam memecahkan masalah pada proses planning, namun tidak mampu dalam memecahkan masalah pada proses execution dan revision.Problem-solving ability is an ability that students must have, but the facts in the field show that problem-solving ability is still relatively low, especially in solving problems on non-routine questions. Differences in students' initial abilities greatly affect the level of students' mathematical problem-solving ability. The purpose of this study was to find out how problem-solving abilities go through the process of planning, execution, and revision of students with high, medium, and low initial abilities in the matter of a system of two-variable linear equations. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were class VIII-B students of SMPN 6 Garut, comprising 6 students. The instruments used in this study were initial ability tests, problem-solving ability tests, interviews, and field notes. Data analysis used in this research is data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The study results show that students with high initial abilities can solve mathematical problems in the planning, execution, and revision processes. Students with moderate initial abilities can solve mathematical problems in the planning and execution processes. Students with low initial ability can solve problems in the planning process but are unable to solve problems in the execution and revision processes.
