Abstract

This research highlights the strategic role of sports in improving the quality of human resources, focusing on Wushu as a branch of achievement. There is a dominant attack technique, Tengkong Bailian, which requires strength, speed, and precision. Plyometric exercises, such as Split Squat Jump and Jump To Box, are recognized as methods to increase muscle power. Flexibility is also considered crucial in sports activities, and the technical development of Wushu athletes requires the integration of plyometric training with a focus on strength, speed, and flexibility. This study tried to reveal the difference in the influence between the two plyometric exercise methods on the ability of Tengkong Bailian, taking into account the degree of flexibility. Results showed that both methods were effective, with Split Squat Jump superior at high flex, and Jump To Box more effective at low flex. The implication is that the integration of both training methods can promote optimal results in coaching Wushu athletes, with emphasis on individual characteristics and degree of flexibility. These findings provide guidance for Wushu trainers to develop effective exercise programs

Abstract

This comprehensive literature review delves into the prevalence, risk factors, management strategies, and outcomes related to meniscal injuries, particularly focusing on young football athletes. Drawing from eight scholarly articles, it covers various aspects of meniscal injuries, including incidence rates, treatment options, rehabilitation techniques, and long-term implications. Meniscal injuries are highlighted as significant in sports, notably in high-mobility activities like football, where sudden movements and twisting motions increase the likelihood of such injuries. The review explores common treatment methods such as meniscal repair, transplantation, and partial meniscectomy, along with tailored rehabilitation approaches aimed at facilitating athletes' return to play. Research indicates that while meniscal injuries are common among athletes, particularly in contact sports like football, early detection and proper treatment are crucial to mitigate lasting effects. Understanding knee joint anatomy and biomechanics is emphasized, along with the implementation of effective rehabilitation protocols to enhance joint stability and prevent re-injury. In summary, this literature review offers valuable insights into the multifaceted nature of meniscal injuries among young football athletes. By synthesizing evidence from diverse sources, it contributes to a deeper understanding of the epidemiology, management, and rehabilitation of meniscal injuries, informing clinical practices and guiding future research in sports medicine

Abstract

This GPS-based comparative observational study analyzed match physical demands of Indonesian national soccer players in two international matches against Kyrgyzstan (n = 15 GPS records) and North Korea (n = 8 GPS records), held at Zhejiang Normal University Stadium, September 2023. Variables included total distance, distance per minute, maximum speed, high-speed running (HSR), sprint distance, number of HSR, number of sprints, explosive accelerations, decelerations, and speed zone distances. Descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U tests, rank-biserial effect sizes, and Spearman correlations were computed. Mean total distance ranged from 6,390–6,709 m, influenced by varied playing durations. Medium effect sizes (r = 0.317–0.358) were observed for HSR distance, sprint distance, and relative intensity (m/min) between matches. Spearman correlations confirmed strong internal consistency (HSR–Sprint: ρ = 0.886; nHSR–nSprint: ρ = 0.811). Full backs consistently obtained physical loads at a higher level than other players through both of the matches indicating a position-dependent demand profile. This data documented foundational normative GPS data for Indonesian international soccer and bear direct practical implications for individualized load monitoring, training periodization, and opponent-specific tactical preparation.

Abstract

The review followed the PRISMA 2020 framework and was conducted using Scopus as the primary information source, applying a Boolean strategy combining swimming, strength, explosive-power, and technique constructs within title, abstract, and keyword fields. The search returned 183 records, which were screened against predefined eligibility criteria restricting inclusion to English-language original articles and reviews directly addressing strength, power, or technical determinants of swimming performance. After title and abstract screening and full-text assessment, 50 studies were retained for qualitative and thematic synthesis. Included studies were evaluated by the FICO framework (Focus, Information, Context, Outcome); As the designs and outcome measures of the studies were highly different, no meta-analyses effect sizes are reported and the findings are combined narratively. Three thematic findings emerged. First, upper limb and trunk strength, expressed through tethered force and dry-land resistance capacity, are consistently associated with stroke propulsion and sprint velocity, although the strength-performance relationship is moderated by competitive level. Second, lower limb explosive power, assessed through jump and force-plate measures, is a robust determinant of start and turn performance, phases that contribute disproportionately to total 50-m time. Third, technical variables, particularly stroke length and stroke-rate regulation, mediate the translation of physical capacity into measurable velocity. Across studies, maximal-strength, plyometric, and complex training emerged as the most effective dry-land modalities. The review indicates that sprint freestyle performance is best modelled as an integrated outcome of force production, explosive power, and technical efficiency rather than any single capacity. Practically, the findings support multimodal conditioning that couples heavy resistance and plyometric work with technique-focused practice. Methodological heterogeneity and a scarcity of longitudinal designs are identified as priorities for future research.
