Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of the hollow sprint method on the results of the 100 meter run in class X students at SMAN 9 Seluma. In this study, the research method used is the experimental method. The subjects of this study were students of class XA at SMAN 9 Seluma as many as 32 students. Data collection techniques used in the research are test, observation and documentation methods. Analysis of the data used in quantitative research using the 100 meter running assessment guidelines. The conclusion of this research is the application of the effect of the application of the hollow sprint method has a significant influence on the results of the student's 100 meter run with the results of the t-test in the class studied both in the implementation of observations and the application of the hollow sprint method. The results of the observations obtained the value of t count or t count 11.41 > t table 1.695. And after the implementation of the holow sprint method, the results of the t test are t count or t count 16.95 > t table 1.695, so that the hypothesis which states that the application of the hollow sprint method has an effect on the results of the 100 meter run in class XA SMAN 9 Seluma is acceptable. the truth.

Abstract

Background: Traditional basketball instruction often emphasises isolated technical drills with limited game-based participation, which may reduce student engagement and hinder skill development. Despite growing interest in game-based learning (GBL), there is limited evidence on structured GBL models in higher education contexts, particularly in Indonesia. Objectives: This study aimed to develop and evaluate a game-based learning model to improve basketball skills and student engagement in physical education. Methods: A research and development (R&D) approach, adapted from Borg and Gall’s model, was employed, encompassing needs analysis, model design, expert validation, and field trials. The model’s effectiveness was assessed using a one-group pretest–posttest design with purposively sampled physical education students. Data were collected through standardised basketball skill tests (dribbling, passing, shooting), questionnaires, and interviews. Quantitative data were analysed using paired-sample t-tests (p < .05), while qualitative data were examined using thematic analysis. Results: In the small-scale trial (n = 30), students’ performance improved by 23.9% from pretest to posttest, with statistically significant differences and large effect sizes. The large-scale trial (n = 60) further confirmed the model’s effectiveness, showing significant improvements in basketball skills (t = 12.44, p < .001). Students also reported highly positive perceptions (M = 4.68, SD = 0.41), indicating strong engagement and acceptance of the GBL approach. Conclusion: The developed GBL model effectively enhances basketball skills, engagement, and learning experiences among physical education students. These findings support the integration of game-based approaches in sports instruction and highlight their potential for broader application in physical education contexts. Future research should examine long-term effects and applicability across different sports settings.

Abstract

Background: The integration of virtual reality (VR) and eye-tracking (ET) technologies has considerable potential for enhancing perceptual–cognitive skill development in basketball. However, existing research provides limited guidance on the technical and pedagogical requirements for designing VR–ET systems that are both instructionally meaningful and aligned with user needs. Aims: This study aims to identify these key design requirements through a user-centred mixed-methods approach. Methods: Semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with coaches and lecturers were conducted to explore training challenges, expectations, and pedagogical considerations. Insights from the qualitative phase informed the development of a questionnaire administered to student-athletes (N = 120), allowing for the validation and prioritisation of system requirements. Qualitative data were analysed thematically, while quantitative data were examined using descriptive statistics. Result: The integrated findings reveal six essential domains for effective VR–ET system design: immersive tactical–technical visualisation, interactive decision-making scenarios, gaze-based performance indicators, real-time visual feedback, learning support features, and implementation readiness. Users emphasised the value of VR–ET for enhancing tactical understanding, attentional control, and personalised training experiences. Conclusion: This study contributes both theoretically and methodologically by addressing the lack of user-informed frameworks in VR–ET research and demonstrating the value of participatory mixed-methods approaches in sports technology development. The results provide a foundational design blueprint for future VR–ET prototypes and offer new insights into how immersive and gaze-based technologies can support athlete learning in team sports.

Abstract

This study examines educational financing management strategies and their impact on the quality of school services at MTs Negeri 2 Bengkulu Tengah, an Islamic junior secondary school in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the principal, treasurer, teachers, and school committee members, supported by non-participant observations and analysis of financial and planning documents, including the School Activity and Budget Plan (Rencana Kegiatan dan Anggaran Sekolah or RKAS) and School Operational Assistance (Bantuan Operasional Sekolah or BOS) realization reports. Data triangulation was applied to enhance credibility and analytical rigor. The findings reveal that the madrasah implements a strategic financing model characterized by participatory budget planning, priority-based allocation, transparent financial reporting, and multi-layered monitoring involving internal and external oversight. Empirical evidence demonstrates measurable impacts in three domains: (1) improvement of facilities and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) supported learning environments, (2) enhancement of teacher professional and digital competencies through targeted training allocation, and (3) strengthening of student services reflected in increased extracurricular participation and reduced absenteeism rates. Financial transparency and stakeholder engagement further contribute to strengthened public trust and institutional accountability. This study contributes to educational management scholarship by presenting an evidence-based financing governance model integrating strategic planning, participatory decision-making, and continuous evaluation. The findings highlight that the effectiveness of educational financing depends not merely on the availability of funds but on strategic, transparent, and accountable management practices that align financial decisions with service quality improvement objectives.
