Abstract

This study aims to find out how to apply the components of pre-service biology teachers’ questioning and reinforcement skills. This study was conducted at UPT SMA Negeri 8 Ogan Ilir. The design used in this study is descriptive research. The instruments used were observation sheets and documentation in the form of video recordings. The application of basic questioning skills was seen from 7 aspects while for the application of advanced questioning skills, it is seen from 5 aspects. As for the application of reinforcement skills, it was seen from 4 aspects. The results showed that there was a difference in the number of applying questioning and reinforcement skills during the learning process. In general, pre-service teachers have implemented all components of basic and advanced questioning skills. However, the components of basic questioning skills of giving turns and distributing questions and advanced questioning skills of increasing interaction among students still rarely appear. Meanwhile, the application of the reinforcement skill components of pre-service teachers has been applied in the learning process but still tends to be monotonous.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) of Eleventh-grade students on motion system material in SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara. The research method used was Quasi-Experimental with the research design of Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sampling method used was Saturated Sampling Techniques. The instruments of data collection are HOTS test questions in the form of multiple choices with five answer choices in twenty-five questions. Observation instrument of learning implementation used Checklist with twelve observation items. The response instruments of students use questionnaires with a Likert scale. HOTS data were tested using the Mann-Whitney test, and then the learning implementation data and students’ response data were analyzed descriptively. This data processing uses SPSS twenty-three. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, the sig value is 0.00 (sig <0.05), which shows an effect studied was significant. The implementation of learning has Good Category, while the response of students has very good and good categories of the two types of the response of students measured. Based on the hypothesis test results can be concluded that the PBL’s model can significantly influence higher-order thinking skills of Eleventh-grade students on motion system material in SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara.

Abstract

Note-taking Roundhouse diagrams strategy is a students' conceptual framework for interesting notes. This study aims to improve student retention on body defense system material through note-taking roundhouse diagram strategy. The method used was the one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study was taken by simple random sampling technique. The number of samples in this study was 30 students. The instrument used in the study was a test instrument used multiple choice. This research was conducted during six meetings. Three meetings using roundhouse diagram with pretest and posttest. After four weeks, three more meetings were held to collect the second posttest (retest). The data were analyzed by t-test statistical analysis. Based on the results of the t-test statistical analysis at a significant level α = 0.05, it can be seen that t count > t table for short-term retention and long-term retention. The retention category also showed very satisfying results. Average results of N-gain score for short and long-term retention too very good. It can be included, the note-taking roundhouse diagram strategy on the body's defense system concept can improve student retention.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) on the scientific argumentation of class X students at Senior High School in Indralaya, Indonesia, on biodiversity education. The research method was quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group research design. This research was conducted in class X-science-3 (n=33) as an experiment and X-science 4 (n=33) as a control at Senior High School in Indralaya, Indonesia. The data collection instrument was a test question that included scientific argumentation skills in essay questions and recorded class discussions. Data on writing scientific arguments are analyzed using cohesion and coherence, sentence effectiveness, concept correctness, critical analysis of problems and problem-solving. Data on the ability of scientific argumentation in writing and oral are also analyzed based on Toulmin's claim, data, warrant, backing, rebuttal, and qualifier. Furthermore, based on the Toulmin aspect, the students' quality level of scientific argumentation is determined. The result showed that the level of argumentation quality of students who applied the PBL model was mainly at level 3, while the control class was mainly at level 1. The effect being studied is significant. The PBL can significantly influence the ability of scientific argumentation in class X students at senior high school in Indralaya, Indonesia.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to find out information about the effect of applying 7E Learning Cycle Model with LKPD on the student's concepts understanding in class XI SMAN 1 Indralaya. This research used quasi-experimental method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The data collection of concept comprehension tests was done in class XI IPA 1 as an experimental group and class XI IPA 4 as the control group. The sampling technique was done with random sampling technique. Results of hypothesis testing data analysis using SPSS application obtained t-calculated of 4,031 while t-table at a significance level of 5% with 63 df is 2.00. The results of this study showed that t-calculated > t-table is 4,031 > 2.00. T-test showed that there were significant differences from the second sample at the 95% confidence level. The average value of student's concept understanding in the experimental group was higher than the control group. This was proven by the average value and standard deviation of the test understanding of concepts acquired in the experimental group amounted to 78,64 ± 9,62, while the control group was 65,78 ± 15,35, so Ho is rejected, which means that there were significant implementation of 7E Learning Cycle Model with LKPD to student’s concept understanding of human circulation system topic in XI class of SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya. Keywords : Concept, 7E Learning Cycle Model, LKPD, Human Circulation System

Abstract

The aim of this research was know the implementation of Learning Active Model of Learning Start With a Question (LSQ) towards Student Learning Outcomes on the subject of environment changes in SMA Negeri 1  Indralaya Utara. The research method used was Pre-Experimental with One Group Pretest Postest design. The sampling technique was done by purposive sampling technique. Data collection of learning result test was done in class X MIPA 1 with total of 29 students. The instrument used in this study is a matter of multiple choice which amounted to 30 questions. The t-test indicates that there is a significant difference between the value of the initial test and the final test of the learner at a 95% confidence level. The data analysis using SPSS obtained application tcount of 17.18 while ttable at 5% significance level with df 28 is 2,05. The result shows that tcount> ttable is 17,18>2,05. Student learning outcomes increase from before. This is evidenced from the average score of learning outcomes obtained in the initial test 44.69 while in the final test of 79.17, so H0 rejected, which means that there is influence of the application of active learning model type learning start with a question (LSQ) against learning outcomes of learners on the material changes of class X environment in SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara.Key words : Learning Outcomes, LSQ, environmental change
