Abstract

This paper describes an improvement of the Perturb and Observe (P&O) method for maximum power-point tracking (MPPT) on a photovoltaic (PV) cell generating system. The improvement is achieved using a reference voltage () value to respond to perturbation and calculates the power change based on the response. The magnitude of is determined using the reference voltage change . A large will result in a faster tracking but increasing oscillations during steady-state conditions, while a small will reduce oscillations but slowing down the MPPT response. An adaptive value is required to reduce the oscillations which have potential to degrade the efficiency of the PV cell output. A proportional-integral (PI) controller is explored in this paper in determining the most appropriate value. The results showed that oscillations around the MPP point could be reduced by 99%.

Abstract

Abstract

One way to utilize renewable energy sources is by using solar cells that convert sunlight energy into electrical energy. A converter is generally needed to adjust the output voltage of the solar cell to the application's needs. One type of converter that can be used is a boost converter, which can produce a voltage level at its output higher than its input. The output of the solar cell varies depending on changes in sunlight irradiation, which becomes the input for the converter. In this study, the sliding mode control (SMC) method is used to reduce oscillations in the boost converter's output voltage. The study was conducted by means of simulations using MATLAB/Simulink in open-loop and closed-loop control system conditions. The settling time value and the difference in output voltage before and after the disturbance occurred in the form of varying input voltages and varying loads were analyzed.   Abstrak - Indonesia Salah satu cara memanfaatkan sumber energi terbarukan adalah dengan menggunakan sel surya yang mengubah energi cahaya matahari menjadi energi listrik. Abstract

Technological developments in the 4.0 era are currently growing rapidly, one of the advantages is that it makes it easier for users to control electronic equipment remotely. Only with a device, users can access all information through connectivity called the Internet of Think. The Internet of Things is a technological concept where all electronic equipment is interconnected with internet media so that it can be controlled or monitored from wherever the user needs it. The purpose of this research is to create a room condition control system based on the Internet of Think, where the device can be operated either automatically according to the schedule we set or manually. This system also has a monitoring system via a web server so that we can control and monitor the device without having to approach the device to turn it on or off. The device made in this study utilizes a temperature sensor and a smoke sensor as a sensor input medium to the controller. As an output, it utilizes a servo that is used to open and close the window so that the condition of the room can be controlled. To control the device remotely, the device is connected wirelessly by using wifi media which is one of the features of the nodemcu controller. The output of this research is the servo status on the window, fan, and air content displayed on the device and the web so that comfortable room conditions can be created according to the predetermined set point.

Abstract

Wind Power Plant (PLTB) has received a lot of attention from the public, researchers, and the government because of its advantages and role in reducing the causes of environmental damage due to the generation of electrical energy. Unlike power plants that use primary energy from fossil fuels, PLTB uses wind kinetic energy to generate electricity. Many problems arise because the wind speed is always changing every time. The resulting output voltage instability in the generator can affect the electric power system where the output electricity of the generator is injected. This paper describes how to analyze the generator output voltage control at PLTB. The generator used is a type of induction generator with two inputs (Double-Fed Induction Generator, DFIG). while the method of analysis is carried out using the PSIM simulation tool from Powersim, Inc. Control is carried out both on the rotor side (Rotor Side Converter, RSC) and on the grid side (Grid Side Converter), with the aim of maintaining the output voltage injected into the power grid with a certain level of voltage oscillation. The control results show that the generator output voltage can be maintained as desired.

Abstract

Accurate long-term electricity load forecasting was essential for efficient energy planning and infrastructure development. This study addressed forecasting challenges in rapidly growing regions, such as East Java, where electricity demand was influenced by both linear and non-linear patterns. Conventional forecasting models, such as the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) effectively captured linear trends but failed to model non-linear dynamics, whereas networks with Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) excelled with non-linear data but were often less effective when used alone. This research developed and evaluated an ARIMA-LSTM hybrid model optimized with the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm to forecast electricity load until 2026. The model was trained and validated using historical daily load data from 2021 to 2023 from PT PLN UP2B East Java. This hybrid methodology first used ARIMA to model the linear components of the time series. The resulting residual errors, which contained non-linear patterns, were then modeled using an LSTM network. The DE algorithm was used to automatically optimize hyperparameters for both the ARIMA (p, d, q) and LSTM (units, learning rate, drop out etc.) components. The suggested hybrid model's performance was contrasted with that of the independent LSTM and ARIMA models. The results showed that the DE-optimized hybrid model achieved higher accuracy, yielding a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 3.97 %, which was significantly better than the ARIMA model (12.39 % MAPE) and the LSTM model (4.50 % MAPE) on the validation set. According to these results, the suggested hybrid model was a dependable and extremely accurate instrument for predicting long-term loads, offering a solid basis for strategic energy planning.

Abstract

This paper shows the design and simulation of a photovoltaic (PV) power conversion system based on a Seven-Level Packed U-Cell (PUC) inverter interfaced with a Theta-Based Modulation method and a Perturb and Observe (P&O) Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm. The designed architecture focuses on overcoming significant challenges in PV systems, namely intermittent solar radiance, unstable voltage, and distortion of harmonics. Optimized by theta-based modulation for minimizing switching loss and overall harmonic distortion (THD), the PUC inverter topology stands out for its minimum number of components and superior output quality. A buck-boost converter controlled by the P&O MPPT algorithm is used for obtaining a maximum amount of energy from the PV array. Simulation on MATLAB/Simulink shows substantial performance improvements in terms of voltage stability, power quality, and energy efficiency under changing environmental conditions. The system integrated with the designed architecture proves a cost-effective and reliable method for improving the performance of PV systems and facilitating grid interface.

Abstract

The research introduces a 12-pulse D-STATCOM model developed and simulated to address voltage sag mitigation and power quality enhancement in unbalanced distribution feeders. It tackles critical power quality problems such as voltage depressions, harmonic disturbances, and declining power factor, all of which negatively influence system reliability and efficiency. The 12-pulse arrangement was realized by integrating two 6-pulse Voltage Source Converters (VSCs) through a phase-shifted transformer, which enabled the suppression of dominant low-order harmonics. The overall system was constructed and analyzed in MATLAB/Simulink, where an SRF-based control method was employed to ensure precise reactive power support and rapid voltage restoration. The simulation outcomes indicate notable performance gains: THD decreased from 8.5% in the conventional 6-pulse unit to 3.2%, the power factor increased from 0.85 to 0.98, and the network voltage recovered within approximately 0.02 seconds following a 30% voltage dip. These findings demonstrated that the 12-pulse D-STATCOM provided superior harmonic mitigation, faster dynamic response, and improved system stability compared to the conventional 6-pulse design. The novelty of this study lies in proving that the 12-pulse configuration offers a technically practical yet practically feasible alternative, making it highly relevant for real-world power distribution applications.
