Abstract

Each year plastic production worldwide has increased. Approximately 10% of the production of plastic will lead to the sea. This plastic is degraded to be a small particle size < 5mm called microplastic. The river is the main route of entry of plastic from land to the sea. Sayung River is a river that has the potential to be contaminated with microplastics around which it is used as a location for the cultivation of various fisheries commodities including Pernaviridis, Penaeus monodon, and Lates calcarifer. The study aims to determine the number and type of microplastic in Penaeus monodon, Pernaviridis, and Lates calcarifer. Samples were taken from three different stations in the coverage area. Microplastic abundance analysis by isolating microplastic on each sample. Isolation samples of Pernaviridis, Penaeus monodon, and Lates calcarifer are done by dissolving the sample in a solution of 10% KOH was allowed for 24 hours at a temperature of 60 oC and observed under a binocular microscope. Founded types of microplastic are fiber, fragments, pellets, and films on Pernaviridis, Penaeus monodon, and Lates calcarifer. Pernaviridis found on many types of films, in Penaeusmonodon are the most prevalent types of fragments and the Lates calcarifer most common types of fiber. Pellet type is the least kind found in Pernaviridis and Penaeus monodon. Based on the age when taken, Penaeus monodon is the commodity that has the most potential to be contaminated with microplastic while based on the number of particles found in Lates calcarifer is the commodity with the most potential to be contaminated with microplastic.

Abstract

Tofu waste water is still being a significant issue in Indonesia owing to its level of BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) (Chemical Oxygen Demand). However, this waste also includes significant ammonia (230 mg/L) which is needed for microalgae development. Microalgae are photosynthetic microorganism which need nitrogen supply for their development. Among others, microalgae Botryococcus braunii is the one with large oil amount within their cells (25 – 75 %). This study was meant to examine the usage of tofu whey for culture medium for algae development. The experiment was done by adjustment of whey volume (5-20 %) in fresh medium and algal biomass was continually measured. The findings revealed that Botryococcus braunii obtained optimum growth in 10 % volume with biomass generated at 2.4 g/L and 0,8716 g/L of lipid production. At this circumstance, COD might be lowered up to 83.33 %.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh katalis dari genteng tanah liat untuk memproduksi bahan bakar cair dari limbah ban bekas dengan proses pirolisis. Pirolisis menghasilkan produk yaitu cair (yield), arang (Char) dan gas. Alat pirolisis terdiri dari tabung reaktor, pipa stainless, pipa kaca, pipa kondensor dan kompor listrik. Katalis diletakkan pada pipa yang keluar dari reaktor sehingga katalis berperan dalam proses perubahan gas hasil pirolisis menjadi cair. Hasil XRF katalis genteng menunjukkan bahwa katalis genteng tanah liat mengandung silica alumina dimana dalam proses pirolisis silica alumina digunakan sebagai polimer, isomer dan pengkrekahan pada reaksi kimia hidrothermal. Hasil tanpa katalis menghasilkan yield lebih sedikit jika dibandingkan dengan penggunaan katalis. Yield di yeield dianalisis menggunakan Gas Chromatography-Mass spectrometry (GC-MS), hasil yield mengandung hidrokarbon dengan fraksi C5-C12 (bensin) sebesar 80,94%.

Abstract

Bioenergi adalah salah satu energi yang dapat diperbaruhi dan juga ramah lingkungan, salah satunya adalah bioetanol. Bahan baku yang mengandung glukosa, selulosa dan pati dapat digunakan menjadi bioetanol Nanas madu adalah tanaman yang dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi bioenergi. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuktikan efektivitas limbah kulit nanas madu kering untuk pembuatan bioetanol serta mengetahui kadar bioetanol yang dihasilkan. Proses fermentasi yang digunakan dalam peneltian ini . Kulit nanas madu yang sudah dikeringkan di proses hidrolisis, fermentasi dan distilasi. Proses fermentasi dengan variasi waktu fermentasi 1 hari, 2 hari, 3 hari, 4 hari, 5 hari, 6 hari, 7 hari,8 hari, 9 hari, 10 hari, 11 hari dan 12 hari. Hasil fermentasi tercepat akan didistilasi sebanyak dua kali dan dianalisa kadar bioetanol dengan GC-MS. Kadar bioetanol dari limbah kulit kering nanas madu didapatkan sebesar 95,66 % dengan waktu fermentasi selama 4 hari.

Abstract

AbstractHamlet is one of the well-known Shakespeare’s drama highlighting betrayal, murder, and revenge. This paper discusses Shakespeare’s Hamlet by studying signs in the text with a semiotic approach in literature. “Denmark is prison” is chosen to be the primary signifier in Shakespeare’s Hamlet that can represent all the main characters’ feeling and perspective in the text such as Hamlet, Claudius, Getrude, Hamlet’s ghostly father, Polonius, Ophelia, Laertes, Horatio, Fortinbras, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern. They feel Denmark is a prison for their heart. Prison is a symbol of an unpleasant place where the dwellers do not feel happy since they cannot live freely. The characters’ own feeling leads them to live in Denmark unhappily. The story climax is that all of the main characters at the end of the story suffer or die tragically. Key words: Hamlet, signifier, prison, betrayal, murder

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research paper is aimed at analyzing one of Euripides’ well-renowned classical literary works entitled Medea by focussing on Medea as the main character of the story, Medea’s psychological state, psychological reason, and sadistic personality disorder reaction. This research paper uses psychological approach in analyzing the related psychological phenomena in Euripides’ Medea. The resut of the research indicates that Medea, who gets accustomed to being raised in a barbarous family and living in a barbaric environment, has a natural impulsive behaviour to kill other persons guiltlessly. Key words: killing, guiltless feeling, sadistic personality disorder

Abstract

Abstract This research paper discusses feudalism in the short story written by Ursula K. Le Guin, entitled Semley’s Necklace. The writers use sociological approach to analyze the textual and contextual elements in the story. The writers apply library research method in compiling data and information needed related to the research. In analyzing the phenomena in Ursula K. Le Guin’s Semley’s Necklace, the writers use the theory of Feudalism of François-Louis Ganshof and Marc Bloch. The result of the research indicates that there is a partnership inequality between the Lord-Vassal feudal system and the abuses of power committed by the Starlords as the ruling party that fails to prosper the inhabitants of Western Lands and exploits their property. The exploitation causes a rampant growth of poverty in Western Lands. The poverty causes discontent and jealousy on Semley as the protagonist in the story. The poverty, discontent, and jealousy bring Semley influence to decide to leave the manor to search for her lost dowry called “The Eye of the Sea”. As a result, Semley loses her beloved husband, the only reason she goes away to bring back her sapphire-stoned necklace in a “one-night long” journey. Keywords: feudalism, abuse of power, lord, vassal

Abstract

Population and socio-economic growth trigger changes in land use functions. Land use and climate change in line with the increase in the rate of surface water and a decrease in the quality of water infiltration into the soil. Decreasing water absorption triggers an abundance of water on the surface which leads to hydrometeorological disasters, one of them is flooding. The research study is in Pekalongan City which has a very flat topography a nd the estuary area of several rivers from the upstream area. The current condition of Pekalongan City has a huge potential for flood disaster. The purposes of this study are to measure the depth of the groundwater level, to delineate the flooding area, and to recommend the infiltration wells based on the Geographic Information System. The methods were hydrogeological mapping, including the measurement of the water table, collecting land use maps, delineating flooding zone, calculating impermeable zones, collecting hydrological data such as precipitation . The results show that the groundwater level at the research location is classified into 3 classes, namely 0 -1.5 meters, 1.5-3 meters, and > 3 meters. The need for infiltration wells in the flood-prone areas of Pekalongan City is 57,718 units. The needs for rainwater infiltration wells in areas outside flood -prone areas and groundwater depth> 1.5 meters are 227,416 units with a well's depth between 1.5 to 4 meters. Abstract

Bioenergi merupakan energi yang berasal dari biomassa sebagai fraksi produk biodegradasi, limbah, dan residu dari pertanian (baik nabati maupun hewani). Harapan dengan adanya bioteknologi adalah peningkatan genetik varietas tanaman dan populasi hewan dan konservasi sumber daya genetik. Bioenergi berupa bioetanol, biodiesel, dan biogas yang digunakan sebagai bahan bakar bagi kebutuhan rumah tangga, industri maupun transportasi masyarakat. Ketersediaan bahan bakunya sebagai produk bioenergi masih bersinggungan dengan kebutuhan pangan seperti kedelai, selulosa, dan pati. Bioteknologi menjadi solusi bahan baku bioenergi  guna mengurangi biaya produksi bioenergi, khususnya lignoselulosa etanol. Isu-isu utama termasuk domestifikasi yang cepat, mengatasi perlawanan, kerusakan efisiensi selulosa, dan meningkatkan produksi biomassa dan lipid untuk etanol dan biodiesel. Hal tersebut berupa modifikasi biosintesis lignin, rekayasa metabolik, peningkatan produksi biomassa dan yield, dan kemandulan dan biokontaminan. Tujuannya adalah meningkatkan bahan baku bioenergi melalui modifikasi genetik dan menjadikannya sebagai bidang yang penuh kesempatan untuk membentuk kembali pasokan energi yang keberlanjutan.

Abstract

Penyimpanan bahan makanan bertujuan mencegah pembusukan makanan sehingga shelf life cukup lama, kualitasnya tetap terjaga, dan ketersediaannya berada di sepanjang waktu. Metode penyimpanan dilakukan mulai dari bahan makanan segar (hasil panen), pengolahan, pemrosesan, pengemasan hingga pendistribusian produk. Berdasarkan ketahanannya, makanan terbagi atas makanan tahan lama, semi-tahan lama, dan tidak tahan lama. Beberapa teknologi penyimpanan makanan yaitu penggunaan bahan kimia dan mikroba, pengkontrolan kandungan air, struktur makanan, serta penggunaan panas dan energi, maupun teknologi kombinasi. Penyimpanan makanan tidak tahan lama dapat dilakukan di dalam freezer dikemas secara vakum (ikan dan daging), kulkas (susu), dan iradiasi gamma terhadap potongan sayuran untuk menurunkan jumlah E. coli. Lalu, penyimpanan makanan semi-tahan lama melalui pelapisan kitosan (jambu) menunda kematangan, metode hibrid dan pengeringan tepung jagung, dan kombinasi ethanol emitter dengan penyerap oksigen untuk mengawetkan potongan roti gandum. Sedangkan, penyimpanan makanan tahan lama juga menggunakan iradiasi gamma terhadap kacang mende dan metode pulsed electric mereduksi mikroba pada rempah-rempah.
