Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to study and implement the role of banners as a promotional medium in increasing consumer attractiveness in MSME stalls in Bandar Malela Village. The main problem faced by MSME actors is the limited understanding and use of visual promotional media, so that the market potential has not been optimally exploited. The implementation method includes the observation stage, designing banner designs, installing in strategic locations, and assisting stall owners. The results of the activity show that the use of banners with attractive and informative designs is able to increase the visibility of stalls, foster interest in consumer visits, and build a more professional business image. Thus, banners have proven to be an effective, practical, and economical promotional medium for MSMEs in rural areas. This activity contributes to increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of stall businesses in Bandar Malela Village, as well as providing inspiration for the development of simple but significant impact promotion strategies for MSMEs in rural areas.

Abstract

Accountability in the management of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds in private Islamic schools is still largely assessed through administrative compliance, while its relationship with nonprofit-oriented financial reporting and the principle of amanah has not been widely examined in an integrated manner. This study aims to analyze the accountability of BOS fund management at SMK Muhammadiyah 9 Medan through the perspective of nonprofit-oriented accounting and the principle of amanah. The study employed a qualitative approach with a single-case study design conducted from May to June 2026. Data were collected through interviews with the school principal and BOS treasurer, observations, and documentation, including the School Activity and Budget Plan (RKAS), General Cash Book (BKU), accountability reports, and transaction documents. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data credibility was strengthened by comparing interview findings with observation results and documentary evidence. The findings show that BOS fund management is supported by planning, recording, reporting, and supervision mechanisms, as well as the use of ARKAS and SIPLAH, which strengthen transaction traceability and administrative accountability. These mechanisms, however, cannot yet be equated with the full implementation of ISAK 35 because the available documents are primarily oriented toward BOS fund accountability, while adequate evidence of complete nonprofit financial statement presentation has not been identified. Planning, documentation, reporting, and supervision function as mechanisms that support the values of amanah, mas’ūliyyah, and ḥifẓ al-māl, although administrative completeness cannot serve as the sole indicator of the fulfillment of these values. The main constraints include limited technical competence among financial managers, regulatory changes, and delays in fund disbursement. The findings highlight the need to strengthen managerial capacity and improve nonprofit financial reporting practices to enhance the accountability of Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This research seeks to analyze how Third-Party Funds (DPK) and Functional Efficiency represented by ratio of Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO) affect the gainfulness of the Sharia Business Unit of Bank Sumut Syariah HM Yamin Medan from 2023 to 2025. Profitability will be evaluated using Return on Assets (ROA), which reflects the institution's capacity to earn profit through asset use. A quantitative approach with an associative methodology is utilized for this investigation. Minor data are gathered from the quarterly financial statements of the Bank Sumut Syariah HM Yamin Medan Sharia Business Unit for the years 2023 to 2025, consisting of a total of 12 observations. Data gathering methods included documentation and a review of existing literature. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression analysis, partial tests (t-test), and simultaneous tests (F-test), as well as the coefficient of determination (R²), were employed. The findings reveal that, individually, Third-Party Funds (DPK) demonstrate a positive but insignificant impact on profitability (ROA), while Operational Efficiency (BOPO) shows a important negative to cause profitability. Collectively, Third-Party Funds and Operational Efficiency keep a significant impact on the profitability of the Sharia Business Unit at Bank Sumut Syariah HM Yamin Medan. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.635 suggests that 63.5% of the changes in profitability can be attributed to Third-Party Funds and Operational Efficiency, with the residual 36.5% impact by additional elements not contained in this research model.

Abstract

The implementation of Community Service Program (KKN) in rural areas needs to be adapted to the conditions and needs of the community. This article aims to describe the implementation of the 2026 KKN program by UIN Sumatera Utara using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach in Gajah Village, Karo Regency. The program was conducted from July 30 to August 30, 2026, involving 30 students and various target groups. A total of 20 programs were implemented in education, health, economic, environmental, social, religious, cultural, and technological fields. PAR was applied through needs identification, communication, coordination, action, evaluation, and reflection. The activities produced various outputs, including a reading corner, waste-sorting facilities, recycled products, child growth monitoring, and digitalization assistance for MSMEs. The application of PAR helped align the programs with the characteristics and needs of the target groups. However, long-term impacts could not yet be measured due to limited implementation time and the absence of follow-up monitoring. Program sustainability through community involvement and local partners is needed to ensure that the outputs can continue to be utilized.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the implementation of hybrid contracts as well as customers’ perceptions and understanding of the contract structure in Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) financing products. Design/Methods/Approach – This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study model. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with four customers using financing products based on hybrid contracts, namely Murabahah bi al-Wakalah, Ijarah Muntahiyah bi at-Tamlik (IMBT), Musyarakah Mutanaqisah (MMQ), and a combination of Rahn, Qardh, and Ijarah. The study also involved one key informant from the bank’s gold pawn service. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings – The results of the study indicate that the implementation of hybrid contracts generally proceeds in accordance with the mechanisms described at the outset of the contract. Customers’ understanding of the structure and interrelationships among the contracts varies. Some customers better understood practical aspects, such as transaction value, payments, product benefits, and costs, while their understanding of the functions and relationships between the contracts was not yet fully developed. Customer perceptions tended to be positive, particularly regarding ease of use, transparency, convenience, fairness, and compliance with Sharia principles. Research Implications/Limitations – The findings indicate the need to strengthen contract literacy through simple, systematic, and educational communication. The study was limited to four informants and the BSI region in Medan and its surrounding areas. Originality/Value – This study contributes by comparing customers’ perceptions and understanding of several forms of hybrid contracts in Sharia financing practices, particularly the differences between practical understanding of products and structural understanding of the functions and relationships between contracts.
