Abstract

Lansium domesticum Corr. (Meliaceae) is the popular tropical plant producing economic edible fruits found mainly in Southeast Asia. Seed, leaf, bark, stalks and fruit skin extracts of this plant are potential sources for compounds with broad spectrum of pharmacological activities such as antitumor, anticancer, antimalaria, antimelanogenesis, antibacteria and it may lead to the discovery of a new compouds used for antimutagenic and antioxidative stress. Bioactive compounds, pharmacological activities and prospect this plant in medical application will be discussed in this paper. Key words: Lansium domesticum, bioactive compounds, pharmacological activities, medical application.

Abstract

Venomous snakebite is an important cause of morbidity and mortality, and is one of the major health problems in many regions of the world. Medicinal Plant which are effectively inhibitor and neutralize the snake venom and it is considered as a valuable source of natural products for development of medicines against venomous snake bite. The biomedical value of these natural inhibitors can lead to the development of new therapeutics for an assortment of diseases as well as contributing to efficient antivenoms for the treatment of ophidic accidents.Key words: pathophysiology, snake bite, envenomation, medicinal plant, therapeutic.

Abstract

Education carried out for children and adolescents is very important in the formation of community character which is important in the affective aspects of children, cognitive aspects or psychomotor aspects or skills. With this community service, it is hoped that there will be improvements, abilities, and provide scientific information about shade plants that can be used to overcome pollution and support conservation attitudes towards the environment. The method used in this community service is the participatory method. Community service, especially regarding conservation education for students, will ultimately support sustainable development and can have a positive impact on environmental conservation in the present and future.

Abstract

Along with the Covid-19 outbreak around the beginning of 2020, the yard is increasingly being used by the Indonesian people. Availability of land determines which commodity crops are suitable for cultivation. The wider the yard, the more variety of plants that can be planted on the land. So it is hoped that there will be a synergy from planting, with the dosage of fertilizer use, maintenance schedules until the harvest is produced according to the target with a systematic mathematical model. The selected plant is Brazilian Spinach. The choice of fertilizers and pesticides in this activity is eco enzyme, liquids that are not only useful as fertilizers and pesticides, but can also be applied in everyday life. Eco Enzyme (EE) or garbage enzyme is a liquid fermented by organic waste. EE's functions include cleaning floors, cleaning vegetables and fruit, repelling insects and cultivating plants. With that in mind, a community service program was held in the form of mentoring for Brazilian spinach cultivation that utilizes EE techniques and management with the concept of a mathematical model

Abstract

Lansium domesticum is one of tropical plant. Genetic studies of tropical plant species occurred very slowly due to some obstacles. Provided fresh sample for isolation step was one of impediment. Fresh sample was important conditions to avoid impure DNA template. A simple and rapid technique was needed to get a pure DNA from storage sample. The aims of this study is to see the purity of the DNA isolation results from Lansium domesti-cum mature leaf from South Sumatra that have been stored for 2 years and to test whether the DNA isolation results can be used for barcoding analysis by amplification using PCR method with rbcL primer. There are 11 sample of Lansium domesticum were taken from 8 districts in South Sumatra. The sample was the mature leaves of Lanisum domesticum. The leaves were stored in a freezer at -20oC for two years. There was one sam-ple stored within 2 weeks as a comparison. The results of the study showed the isolation of DNA from storage and mature leaves of Lansium domesticum used Plant Genomic DNA Kit DP305 had a good quantity for 7 sample. 3 sample had low purity and 1 sample contaminated by RNA.  Despite electrophoresis showed the isola-tion result not intact and compact, nevertheless the PCR results showed 11 samples could be amplified using rbcL primer. This result indicated the DNA isolation method suit for barcoding analysis using PCR method.

Abstract

This study discusses Set Covering Problem (SCP) in designing the optimal temporary waste disposal site (TWDS) in Semambu Island Village using the Myopic Algorithm (MA) and Greedy Reduction Algorithm (GRA). The analysis was carried out and compared using a maximum distance of 500m and 1000m to get the best solution from two methods. The results of the p Median Problem by LINGO 13.0 software and MA with a maximum distance of 500m show the same TWDS location, namely Working Area (WA) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 with the location of the candidate TWDS being at TWDS 2 WA 1, TWDS 1 WA 2, TWDS 2 WA 3, and TWDS 2 WA 5. For 1000m, it will be the location of the candidate’s TWDS being at TWDS 2 WA 1, TWDS WA 2, and TWDS 2 WA 3. Using GRA, results were obtained will be 4 TWDS, namely TWDS 2 Hamlet 1, TWDS 1 Hamlet 2, TWDS 2 Hamlet 3, TWDS 2, Hamlet 5. Then using GRA, 2 solutions are obtained, namely columns 2 and 5 which dominate. Column 2 nomination are Hamlets 1, 2, 3, and 6. Column 5 which dominates will be Hamlets 1, 3, 5, and 6.

Abstract

Pelatihan pembuataan pupuk organik dari sampah rumah tangga dengan memanfaatkan maggot lalat tentara hitam Hermentia illucens,merupakan salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi kelangkaan dan tingginya harga pupuk komersial. Kegiataan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pelatihan, pendampingan dan melatih ketrampilan khalayak sasaran dalam membuat pupuk organik dengan bantuan maggot BSF Hermentia illucens. Kegiataan ini diikuti oleh 30 ibu-ibu kelompok PKK. Kegiataan ini menggunakan metode penyuluhan, pembimbingan dan demontrasi dan pelatihan seperti teknik pemeliharaan, pembuatan media tumbuh maggot, teknik pemanenan dan teknik pembuatan pupuk organik BSF. Kegiataan ini memberikan hasil yang memuaskan dilihat dari semangat dan antusias peserta dalam bertanya dan dari hasil quisioner yang diberikan. Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan peserta dari yang tidak tahu menjadi mengerti dari 60-100 %. Peserta dapat melakukan teknik pemeliharaan maggot. Pemanfaatan sampah rumah tangga untuk dibuat pupuk organik sebanyak 60 sampai 100 %, Tingkat kepuasaan akan produk meliputi kurang suka, suka dan sangat suka terhadap bentuk, bau dan manfaatnya berkisar antara 20-90%. Kegiataan ini ternyata telah memberikan tambahan ilmu pengetahuan dan pemahaman serta membuat khalayak sasaran trampil dalam membuat pakan ikan berbasis tepung maggot BSF, ada keinginan kuat dari peserta untuk membuat pupuk organik secara mandiri.

Abstract

Brazilian spinach is a type of spinach that is very easy to cultivate and consume by the public because this plant is easy to plant and process and also has good health benefits when consumed. This mentoring activity, which is a community service activity regarding fertilizing Brazilian spinach, aims to provide maximum (optimal) harvest results using eco enzyme techniques that are appropriate to the dosage in the soil and plants with the concept of mathematical models. Eco Enzyme (EE) is a fermentation in the form of a multi-purpose liquid that comes from kitchen waste or organic waste such as fruit peels, vegetables and other food waste. EE can be used as an environmentally friendly fertilizer because this liquid can function as soil and plant fertilizer, eliminate pests, and can improve the quality of vegetables or fruit. Therefore, the selection of EE as fertilizer for Brazilian spinach plants with a balance of ingredients is in accordance with the mathematical model carried out in community service

Abstract

Trikoma sebagai derivat epidermis dapat digunakan sebagai bioindikator lingkungan, termasuk trikoma pada tanaman peneduh jalan. Trikoma merupakan bagian dari materi struktur dan fungsi jaringan tumbuhan di mana materi ini adalah materi sulit dipahami oleh peserta didik. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk studi trikoma daun tumbuhan peneduh sebagai sumber belajar biologi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan melihat bentuk-bentuk trikoma tanaman peneduh dengan menggunakan metode replikasi untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis trikoma dan dilanjutkan dengan analisis potensinya sebagai sumber belajar. Potensi data dan preparat awetan trikoma yang diperoleh dari pengidentifikasian jenis-jenis trikoma tanaman peneduh digunakan sebagai sumber belajar berupa bahan ajar dan media pembelajaran. Bahan ajar divalidasi oleh validator bahan ajar dan materi, serta guru biologi. Kriteria penilaian diperoleh berdasarkan rumus Mardapi (2008). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tipe dan bentuk trikoma tanaman peneduh yang ditemukan terdiri dari tipe glanduler bentuk jarum, glanduler bentuk hidatoda, dan non glanduler bentuk bintang. Hasil penelitian trikoma ini berpotensi sebagai sumber belajar biologi yang dikemas dalam bentuk bahan ajar berupa LKPD dan media pembelajaran berupa awetan preparat trikoma. LKPD yang telah divalidasi dinyatakan layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman peserta didik mengenai trikoma dan fungsinya pada materi jaringan tumbuhan. Trichomes as epidermal derivatives can be used as environmental bioindicators, including trichomes in road shade plants. Trichomes are part of the material on the structure and function of plant tissues where this material is material that is difficult for students to understand. Therefore, this study aimed to study of shade plant leaves trichomes as biology learning resources. This research was a descriptive study by looking at the forms of trichomes in shade plants using the replication method to identify the types of trichomes and continueing with analysis of their potential as learning resources. Potential data and preparations of preserved trichomes obtained from identifying the types of trichomes of shade plants were used as learning resources in the form of teaching materials and learning media. Teaching materials were validated by teaching materials and materials validators, and biology teachers. The assessment criteria were obtained based on the Mardapi (2008).The results showed that the type and shape of the trichomes found in the shade plants consisted of needle-shaped glandular, hydatodic glandular, and star-shaped nonglandular types.The results of this trichome research had the potential to be used as  biology learning resources which was packaged in the form of teaching materials in the form of worksheets and learning media in the form of preserved trichome preparations. Worksheet  that has been validated was stated feasible for use in the learning process to increase students' knowledge and understanding of trichomes and their functions in the subject of plant tissue.

Abstract

Anatomi tumbuhan adalah mata kuliah wajib yang harus dipelajari oleh mahasiswa Program Studi Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi. Salah satu materi yang dibahas dalam anatomi tumbuhan adalah stomata pada daun. Peningkatan ukuran stomata yang diberi kolkisin dapat digunakan sebagai sumber belajar yang memudahkan mahasiswa saat melakukan pengamatan. Sumber belajar tentang stomata dapat menggunakan gambar dari penelitian eksperimen dengan memberikan perendaman biji (benih) pakcoy terlebih dahulu menggunakan kolkisin dengan konsentrasi K0 (0 mg/L), K1(250 mg/L), K2 (500 mg/L), dan K3 (750 mg/L). Pengamatan stomata dilakukan ketika pakcoy berumur 42 hari menggunakan metode replikasi. Stomata diamati menggunakan mikroskop binokuler olympus dengan perbesaran 40x10 yang dihubungkan dengan kamera mikroskop optilab advance by Miconos untuk pengambilan gambar. Pengukuran panjang dan lebar stomata menggunakan software image raster 3. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ukuran stomata pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) semakin besar seiring dengan semakin tinggi konsentrasi kolkisin yang digunakan yang ditandai dengan pertambahan ukuran panjang dan lebar stomata. Ukuran stomata yang besar yang disajikan sebagai sumber belajar berupa gambar stomata pakcoy memudahkan mahasiswa dalam mengamati struktur dan bentuk stomata dan menentukan bagian-bagian stomata yang terdiri atas celah stoma, sel penutup dan sel tetangga. Plant anatomy is a compulsory subject that must be studied by students of Biology and Biology Education Study Programs. One of the materials discussed in plant anatomy is the stomaa on the leaves. Increasing the size of stomata given colchicine can be used as a learning resource that makes it easier for students to make observations. The learning resource about stomata could use pictures from experimental research by soaking pakcoy seeds first using colchicine with concentrations of K0 (0 mg/L), K1(250 mg/L), K2 (500 mg/L), and K3 (750 mg/L). The stomata observation was carried out when the pakcoy were 42 days old using the replication method. The stomata were observed using an Olympus binocular microscope with a magnification of 40x10 connected to an optilab advance by Miconos microscope camera for image capture. The stomata length and width were measured using image raster 3 software. The results showed that pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) stomata size was getting bigger with the higher concentration of colchicine used which was indicated by the increase in the length and width of the stomata. The large size of stomata which was presented as a learning resource in the form of pictures of pakcoy stomata made it easier for students to observe the structure and shape of the stomata and determine the parts of the stomata which consisted of stoma slit, guard cells and neighboring cells.
