Abstract

Bioethanol is a renewable bio-fuels as an alternative energy substitute for oil, in the process leaving a solid waste that can be leveraged into a more useful product. This study aims to improve nutrition and reduce HCN and get the right dose of inoculum in the fermentation of bioethanol from cassava waste. This research was conducted with the experimental method used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in the 3 x 3 factorial with 3 replications. The first factor inoculum dose (D) to the level of inoculum dose, respectively d1 = 2%, 3% = d2, d3 = 4% and the second factor is the length of fermentation, namely for 0, 4 and 8 days As for some of the parameters measured were protein content and crude fiber through proximate analysis, as well as levels of HCN by distillation method. The result showed that the best dose is the dose of 4% which can increase protein content from 2.47% to 2.91% before fermentation - 4.88% after fermentation and can lower crude fiber content of 2.65% to 2.50 % - 2.07% and influential to the decreased levels of HCN from 15.92 mg / kg to 12.73 mg / kg - 0.00 mg / kg for 8 days after fermentation. The results showed that the fermentation process using a consortium of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Trichoderma viride can improve the quality of solid waste processing bioethanol from cassava which include increased levels of protein, crude fiber and decreased levels of HCN reduction.

Abstract

The study was aimed to know the effect and best usage level of neem leaf extract on rice bran to life number of Tribolium castaneum and weight loss of rice bran. The research used an experimental method. The study used Completely Randomized Design with four treatment neem leaf extract that R0 = 0%, R1 = 2%, R2 = 4% and R3 = 6%, each is repeated five replications. The result showed that neem leaf extract usage up to level 6% on rice bran providesa realimpactto life number of Tribolium castaneum and weight loss of rice bran, and used neem leaf extract on level 6% to givelife numberof Tribolium castaneum and the lowest weight loss.

Abstract

In the bioethanol production process of waste generated that is equal to 90% of the fermentation solution. With the vast amount of waste is the waste treatment process becomes very important, one of which is to process into livestock woof. The solid bioethanol waste containing cyanide (HCN) 5.8177 mg/kg, water 95.21%, ash 0.39%, protein 8.16%, crude fiber 5.45%, crude fat 2.06%, and carbohydrates 83,94%. The processing solid bioethanol waste into livestock woof can be done by utilizing the existing fungi on solid bioethanol waste. Crude fiber (cellulose) and carbohydrates are a source of cellulolytic fungal. Cellulolytic fungi can degrade the role of organic materials contained in solid into bioethanol waste so that the source of highly nutritious livestock woof. This study aims to determine the types of mold and fungi cellulolytic isolates contained in solid bioethanol waste the potentially in processing bioethanol waste into livestock woof. The research was conducted using the descriptive analysis method. The medium used for culturing the fungus and isolate the medium Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). Fungal isolation conducted by using dilution series and pour plate method and identification with the Moist Chamber method. To find out cellulolytic fungi using selective medium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) and identification of fungi made to genus level based on macroscopic and microscopic characterization. In this study obtained 10 isolates of the fungus from the genus Aspergillus sp 1, Aspergillus sp 2, Aspergillus sp 3, Aspergillus niger, Cladosporium sp, Mucor sp, Penicillium sp 1, Penicillium sp 2, Rhizopus sp and Trichoderma viride. The results of cellulase enzyme activity assay showed that 9 from 10 isolates of the fungus has the capability of cellulose degradation. Isolates that largest produce the enzyme cellulase is Trichoderma viride, Penicillium sp 1, Cladosporium spand Aspergillus niger.

Abstract

Upaya penggunaan bahan bakar nabati atau yang sering disebut bioetanol sebagai pengganti bahan bakar minyak fosil sedang ditingkatkan. Selain lebih ramah lingkungan, mampu diproduksi secara terus menerus, juga bahan yang digunakan untuk membuat bioetanol sangat banyak terdapat di alam termasuk bermacammacam limbah. Salah satu bahan baku pembuatan bioetanol yang sudah banyak digunakan adalah singkong. Proses pembuatan bioetanol menghasilkan limbah baik padat ataupun cair. Keberadaan limbah padat bioetanol biasanya dimanfaatkan untuk pakan ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kandungan protein dan menurunkan serat kasar limbah padat bioetanol sehingga bisa dijadikan pakan yang lebih baik untuk pertumbuhan hewan ternak. Limbah bioetanol difermentasi dengan EM4 (Effective Microorganisms 4). Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap pada faktorial 5 x 2 dengan 5 kali pengulangan. Faktor pertama adalah perlakuan EM-4, yaitu A=0%, B=0.25%, C=0.5%, D=0.75%, dan E=1%. Masing-masing unit percobaan menggunakan 250 g sampel limbah. Faktor kedua adalah lamanya fermentasi yaitu selama 4 hari dan 8 hari.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan terbaik yaitu penambahan EM-4 sebanyak 1% yang difermentasi selama 4 hari adalah yang terbaik, dengan kandungan protein 3.53% dan kandungan serat kasar 13.19%.
