Abstract

Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, on average, adolescent boys and girls have their first sexual experience when they are 15 and 19 years old, which triggers risky sexual behaviors resulting in sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), HIV/AIDS, unwanted pregnancies, abortions, and even death. Therefore, educational media is needed to increase positive behavior in adolescents. Objectives: This study aims to determine the influence of snake and ladder game media on adolescent sexual behavior. Methods:The research design was a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest group with a control group. The treatment group is teenagers who are given education with snake and ladder game media while the control group is teenagers who are given education through monopoly games. A total of 100 samples were selected using the prolpoltiolnatel stratifield random sampling technique. The data were analyzed by wilcoxon and mann whitney tests. Results: As a result, there was an influence of education with snake and ladder game media on the average knowledge score of p=0.000), attitude p=0.000), behavior p=0.000). The results of the statistical test also showed that there was an influence of monopoly game media on the average knowledge score p=0.00, attitude=0.00, behavior p=0.00. The snake and ladder game media is more effective in increasing knowledge p=0.00, attitude p=0.002 compared to monopoly game media. Conclusions: the snakes and ladders game media is more effective in increasing adolescents' knowledge about risky sexual behaviour than the monopoly game media. Health care providers must take advantage of snake and ladder educational media to increase knowledge, attitudes and prevent risky sexual behavior.

Abstract

Despite ongoing efforts to reduce maternal mortality in Indonesia, antenatal care (ANC) coverage—particularly completion of ?4 visits (K4)—remains suboptimal in regions such as Bengkulu City. The involvement of community health cadres is recognized as a key strategy to improve maternal health outcomes; however, limited research has directly examined the effect of structured cadre-based empowerment on ANC knowledge, attitudes, and service utilization. This study aimed to examine the effect of ANC cadre empowerment on ANC knowledge, attitudes, and the frequency of ANC visits among pregnant women in Bengkulu City, Indonesia. This quasi-experimental study employed a pre-test and post-test control group design involving 40 pregnant women in Bengkulu City, Indonesia divided equally into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received structured cadre-based empowerment involving trained health cadres, while the control group received standard counseling. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests to assess differences in knowledge, attitudes, and ANC visit frequency. After the intervention, the knowledge scores in the intervention group significantly increased from 53.80 to 73.90 (p=0.020), while the control group showed no significant change. Attitude scores in the intervention group also increased significantly from 35.35 to 38.25 (p=0.014), unlike the control group (p=0.320). Regarding ANC visits, the intervention group had a higher mean number of visits (mean=4) compared to the control group (mean=3), with a statistically significant difference (p=0.001). Cadre-based empowerment through structured training significantly improved pregnant women’s knowledge, attitudes, and ANC service utilization. This suggests the importance of integrating cadre empowerment models into routine maternal health programs to support improved ANC compliance.

Abstract

Mother's Milk is the best food for newborns and is the only healthy food that babies need in the first months of life. Breastfeeding has many benefits for both mother and baby. One of the obstacles to breastfeeding is problems with the mother's breasts because it gives difficulties for the baby to breastfeed, including flat, sunken and blistered nipples.Research conducted by Jannah, et al (2018) thatthe duration of successful breastfeeding in the intervention group given the BBC was a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 days, while in the control group given a nipple puller it was longer, namely a minimum of 6 days and a maximum of 22 days. The statistical test results showed that there was a significant difference in the mean duration of successful breastfeeding in mothers with inverted nipples given the BBC modification with a p=0.00, the mean difference being 9.4. This means that the use of the BBC modification can accelerate the success of breastfeeding in mothers with inverted nipples 9.4 times compared to mothers with nipple puller intervention. This community service activity method uses an approach to increasing knowledge, skills through webinar zoom meetings and training. The results of filling out the pre and post test questionnaires showed that the average pretest value was 66, 76 to 85.44 with an increase in knowledge of 21.86%. In conclusion, there is an increase in the knowledge and skills of alumni to produce BBC which can be seen in the video on the process of making the BBC and there is an additional type of service at PMB, namely BBC marketing. It is recommended that PMB and alumni open businesses and have an entrepreneurial spirit so that they can create job opportunities for other alumni and provide services to breastfeeding mothers who have problems with flat, sunken and chafed nipples.

Abstract

Background: Infant mortality remains high and is more common in the neonatal period. Causes of neonatal death include asphyxia, sepsis, infection and LBW(LBW) in preterm and term infants. One of the factors influencing the incidence of LBW is pre-eclampsia. This is because pre-eclampsia affects the utero-placental circulation so that it affects the delivery of nutrients to the fetus, resulting in fetal nutrient deprivation and intrauterine growth restriction. Objectives: This study aims to assess the relationship between pre-eclampsia and the incidence of LBW in the Mawar Room of Dr M. Yunus Bengkulu Hospital. Methods: This study used a case-control design. The sample was all babies born in M Yunus Hospital in the years 2019-2022.The case group were LBWbabies and the control group were normal birth weight babies. The total sample size was 128 with a ratio of 1:1. Samples were collected using purposive sampling with inclusion criteria of babies born alive with complete medical records. Data analysis in this study used univariate analysis to view frequency distribution, bivariate with chi-squared test and multivariate with logistic regression using SPPS software version 24. Results: The incidence of pre-eclampsia was 13.3%, 34% age at risk, parity 37.5% garande multipara, 4imipara and multipara and most (62.5%) had primary education 47.5%. There is an association of pre-eclampsia with the incidence of LBW. There is an association of age, parity and education with the incidence of LBW, but pre-eclampsia is the most dominant factor that is the most dominant risk variable that affects the incidence of LBW. Conclusions: There is an association between pre-eclampsia, age, parity and education with the incidence of LBW. Pre-eclampsia is the most dominant factor in the incidence of LBW.
