Abstract

Sidenreng Rappang Regency is one of the providers of rice in South Sulawesi Province and makes it the main commodity. The problems faced by farmers in distributing their crops include farmers who are always in a position that does not benefit from the market mechanism. In addition, the selling price of grain is very low while the costs incurred by farmers have not been able to cover the production costs which of course will have an impact on the welfare of farmers and a decrease in the amount of rice production. The purpose of the study was to determine the model of the implementation of the rice distribution channel and to find out how much the income level and marketing margin of rice in Sidenreng Rappang Regency were. Informants who fit the research needs are 20 respondents who are rice farmers with an area of 1 ha and marketing institutions involved in distributing rice to the hands of final consumers. Some of the marketing agencies involved are 2 collectors, 1 rice miller, 1 wholesaler, and 1 retailer. This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method to determine rice's distribution channel while quantitative analysis analyzes the income and marketing margins of rice in Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The results showed that implementing the rice distribution channel system in Sidenreng Rappang Regency started with farmers, collectors, and rice milling companies and then distributed to two business actors, namely large companies and retailers to the last level to consumers. The average income earned by rice farmers per planting season with a land area of 1 ha is Rp. 23,745,000. The marketing margin obtained by each distribution agency is high for wholesalers to consumers of Rp. 7,750/kg, then the margin for retailers to consumers is Rp. 7,400/kg, followed by milling margins to retailers and wholesalers with values of Rp. 3,700/kg and Rp. 3,400/kg.

Abstract

There are many influencing factors in increasing chili production, including climate factors and pests. West Java province is one of the largest chili production centers in Indonesia. This study uses secondary time series data from the Ministry of Trade, Agriculture, and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Daily data on chili prices from the Ministry of Trade analyzes price fluctuations. Analysis of the data used uses Coefficient of Variation or coefficient of variation (KK) prices. The quantity of chili consumption in the 2009-2019 period tends to go up and down. The average consumption of chili is 3.71 kg/capita/year. The highest chili consumption rate occurred in 2015, with consumption reaching 5.92 kg/capita/year, increasing 33.93% from the previous period. The national average chili price in May 2016 was relatively high, at IDR 27,567/kg for cayenne pepper. The price level is in the range of the benchmark price set by the Ministry of Trade of Rp. 28.000,-/kg for cayenne pepper. The price disparity of large red chilies and cayenne peppers illustrates the diversity of the National Prices each month for each commodity. The occurrence of price disparities, of course, is strongly influenced by seasonal price fluctuations that almost occur every year and are troubling to chili consumers. The spike in chili prices was caused by reduced supply, while demand was constant every day and even tended to increase in certain seasons.

Abstract

The duck livestock business is one of the business branches in the livestock sector which is now widely cultivated by the community. Especially in South Sulawesi, duck farming has increased over the last 5 years. This happened because the duck culinary business increased along with the increasing demand and purchasing power of the people. In the aspect of duck farming, the feed factor is one of the problems faced by farmers because the proportion of financing can reach 60-80%. To overcome this, one solution that can be done is to utilize locally available feed ingredients sustainably. Gosse (Ceratophyllum sp) is one type of aquatic plant which if its production is excessive in ponds, can harm the growth of milkfish and shrimp. Its potential is so great, that it is considered very worthy of research. This study aims to determine the potential of Gosse as feed for ducks based on the production of fresh material, dry matter, and carrying capacity based on Geographic Information System (GIS) data. The research method applied includes 4 stages, namely Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis, analysis of fresh and dry matter production, nutritional quality analysis, and production conversion to calculate carrying capacity. The results showed that the production of fresh matter reached 74.7 tons/ha/year and the production of the dry matter reached 4,482 tons/ha/year. The production of gosse in Tellumpanua Village in total reached 1,157.09 tons/year in a fresh state and 70.3674 tons//year in a dry state. Based on these data, the carrying capacity of gosse at 30%, 50%, and 70% use respectively is 270, 162, and 115 head/ha/year or 4239, 2543, and 1805 head/year.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the marketing channel model of ginger, analyze the marketing efficiency of ginger and analyze the added value resulting from the innovation of ginger products into ginger powder in Sidenreng Rappang Regency. This goal is based on several problems encountered when conducting the initial survey, such as ginger farmers only getting a small profit because they only market their products in the form of raw or unprocessed ginger so there is a significant difference in selling prices at the farmer level. This research's data analysis method consists of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Qualitative analysis was used to identify marketing channels for ginger in Sidenreng Rappang Regency. In contrast, quantitative analysis was used to determine marketing efficiency and the amount of added value resulting from the innovation of ginger products into ginger powder using the Hayami method. The results showed that the marketing channel for ginger in Panca Lautang District, Sidenreng Rapppang Regency consisted of Farmers - Collectors - Retailers - Consumers. From these results, there are two marketing institutions in the ginger marketing channel, namely collectors and retailers. The value of the marketing margin obtained through the ginger marketing channel which is the difference between the price paid by consumers and the price received by farmers is Rp. 8,500. The value of a farmer's share in the ginger marketing channel is based on the price received by farmers from the final consumer price of 66% with a profit ratio of 6.9 which indicates that the ginger marketing channel in Panca Lautang District, Sidenreng Rapppang Regency can be said to be efficient. The added value of processing ginger into powdered ginger is Rp. 79,000/kg with a value-added ratio of 39.50% and a profit of Rp. 74,000 or 37%. The large percentage of processing profits indicates that selling powdered ginger processing products is more profitable than selling fresh products.

Abstract

This paper is aimed to examine how the influence of e-commerce use on the income of cayenne pepper farmers, but it is related to the price fluctuation of cayenne pepper. The price fluctuation of raw chilli here acts as an intermediate variable so that this research will be analyzed using Path Analysis. This research uses a quantitative design with a case study research technique. This research was conducted in Ongkoe Village, to be precise in the Machero neighborhood, Belawa District, Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi. The results of path analysis illustrate that indirectly the use of e-commerce through fluctuations in chili prices has a significant effect on increasing farmers' income. Even though it is of small value, it is hoped that farmers can find and take advantage of existing e-commerce in carrying out their daily activities. It is hoped that farmers can find and utilize e-commerce in order to bypass long marketing channels so that consumers do not get higher prices and farmers can sell their crops at a satisfactory price.
