Abstract

The writing skills of fifth grade students at SDN Percobaan Kota Padang are still low.  Most students in pouring stories into writing are a little overwhelmed in finding ideas.  In addition, there is a lack of use of learning media in the classroom.  This certainly makes the learning process hampered so that students cannot develop their ideas in writing.  The purpose of this study in general is to test the use of podcast learning media to improve the writing skills of grade V students of SDN Percobaan Kota Padang. This study used a One-Group Pretest-Posttest experimental design. Data was collected from teacher and student activities. There were also tests related to the data collection method.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) learning model and learning motivation on the expository narrative writing skills of fourth-grade elementary school students. This research employed an experimental method with a quasi-experimental design using a 2x2 factorial pattern. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students at elementary schools in Cluster VI, during the 2023/2024 academic year. The research instruments included a learning motivation questionnaire and a test of expository narrative writing skills. The results revealed that: (1) the RADEC learning model had a significant effect on students’ expository narrative writing skills; (2) the RADEC model positively influenced the writing skills of students with high learning motivation; (3) the RADEC model did not significantly affect the writing skills of students with low learning motivation; and (4) there was no interaction between the RADEC learning model and learning motivation in influencing expository narrative writing skills. These findings indicate that the RADEC model is effective in improving students’ writing abilities, particularly among those with high learning motivation.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the improvement in integrated thematic learning outcomes using the team quiz model in class V of SD Negeri 125 Tebingtinggi. This research uses the classroom action method (PTK). This research uses qualitative and quantitative research which was carried out in 2 cycles, cycle I was carried out in 2 meetings and cycle II was carried out in 1 meeting. Data collection techniques include observation, tests and non-tests. The subjects of this research were teachers and all class V students at SD Negeri 125 Tebingtinggi. The results of the research showed that there was an increase in three research aspects, namely: (a) planning in cycle I obtained a score of 80.35% (B) increased in cycle II to 92.85% (AB), (b) implementation of learning aspects in cycle I teachers obtained a score 82.95% (B) while the student aspect received a score of 77.27% (C), increasing in the second cycle in the teacher aspect to 95.45% (B) and the student aspect also obtained a score of 95.45% (AB), (c ) student learning outcomes in cycle I obtained an average score of 78.26 (C) increasing in cycle II to 86.60 (B). Thus, it can be concluded that the Team Quiz model can improve student learning outcomes in class V of SD Negeri 125 Tebingtinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of ethnoscience-based science learning through the traditional tug-of-war game on the topic of force and motion in elementary school. The ethnoscience approach integrates scientific concepts with local wisdom, making learning more contextual and closely related to students’ daily lives. The method used in this study is a literature review by examining various relevant sources related to ethnoscience, science learning, and the concepts of force and motion. The results of the review indicate that the concepts of force and motion are still difficult for students to understand because they are abstract and cannot be directly observed. These difficulties are influenced by students’ limited ability to relate concepts to real-life phenomena, a tendency to rely on rote learning, and a lack of direct learning experiences. The traditional tug-of-war game has the potential to be used as a learning medium because it contains concepts such as pulling force, frictional force, and force equilibrium, which can be observed directly. Through this activity, students can understand the concepts of force and motion more concretely because they are directly involved in the learning process. In addition, the ethnoscience approach can increase student engagement and motivation, as well as help them connect scientific concepts with their daily experiences. Therefore, ethnoscience-based science learning through the traditional tug-of-war game can be an effective alternative to improve conceptual understanding while also supporting the preservation of local culture.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the RME approach to mathematics learning in elementary schools through a literature review. The method used is a literature review that analyses various national and international journal articles from databases such as Google Scholar and ScienceDirect, followed by content analysis. The results of the study indicate that teachers are required to use learning approaches that can improve mathematics learning in students. One approach that allows students to improve their mathematical abilities is Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This approach helps students understand mathematical concepts through real-world problems, as many students still have difficulty grasping problem-solving in mathematics. These students will generally be proficient in calculations, but when faced with story problems, they will have difficulty understanding the context. This is caused by a reliance on formulas without a deep understanding of the basic principles of the formula. In this condition, it can be a major cause of student failure because the learning method is not effective in building a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Therefore, the RME approach is needed in mathematics learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of digital learning media in the form of flipbooks in improving student learning outcomes in IPAS subjects in the social studies field at the elementary school level. The method used is a literature review by examining various sources such as scientific journals, books, and relevant articles in the period 2020–2025. The results of the study show that the use of flipbooks as digital learning media can increase student interest, motivation, and understanding because of the interactive presentation of material through a combination of text, images, audio, and video. In addition, flipbooks also make it easier for students to access learning materials anytime and anywhere. Therefore, flipbooks are considered effective as digital learning media innovations in improving student learning outcomes in social studies learning.

Abstract

The development of digital technology offers significant opportunities to improve the quality of learning in elementary schools. One digital medium that teachers can utilize is Canva, an easy-to-use graphic design application for creating engaging and interactive learning materials. This article discusses the application of Canva-based digital media to increase student participation in science learning in fourth-grade students at SDN 02 Kinali. The methods used included interactive presentation media, educational posters, and simple learning videos created using Canva. The results showed increased student participation in learning activities, such as active participation in asking questions, answering questions, discussing topics, and completing group assignments. Furthermore, the use of Canva created a more engaging and enjoyable learning environment, thus increasing student motivation in science learning.

Abstract

Morning literacy programs have become one of the strategies widely implemented in elementary schools to improve students’ reading interest and reading proficiency. This study aims to systematically analyze empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of morning literacy programs in enhancing elementary school students’ reading interest and reading skills. The method used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by searching scientific articles through databases such as Google Scholar and ERIC. The inclusion criteria for the articles were: (1) publications within the last five years, (2) studies focusing on morning literacy programs in elementary schools, and (3) studies presenting empirical data on the effects of the program on reading interest and reading proficiency. The results of the analysis indicate that morning literacy programs consistently have a positive impact on students’ reading interest and reading proficiency. Factors such as the selection of engaging reading materials, teacher support, and the variety of literacy activities contribute significantly to the effectiveness of the program. However, several studies also highlighted challenges in program implementation, including limited time allocation and inadequate resources. This study concludes that morning literacy programs are a promising intervention to improve literacy skills among elementary school students. The implication of this study is the importance of developing structured and sustainable morning literacy programs supported by adequate resources. Abstract

National education aims to develop students' potential to become faithful and noble individuals, yet contemporary challenges such as moral degradation and the negative influence of digital technology pose serious obstacles at the elementary school level. This study aims to examine various implementative strategies in Civic Education (PKn) to enhance students' morals and attitudes. The method used is a library research with a Systematic Literature Review approach, analyzing scientific articles published within the last five years. The results indicate that innovative strategies such as the Value Clarification Technique (VCT) model, Problem Based Learning (PBL), the integration of character education into the curriculum, and the development of civic disposition are effective in improving student behavior. Furthermore, teacher modeling and synergy between the school environment and families are decisive factors for the consistent internalization of Pancasila values. Proper strategy implementation is proven to increase empathy, responsibility, and minimize conflicts among students.

Abstract

Rapid technological advancements have given rise to a variety of modern electronic devices known as gadgets. Initially, these devices were primarily used by adults as communication tools and sources of information. However, over time, gadget use has expanded beyond adults to include children, including elementary school children (SD), aged 6 to 12. This phenomenon has a two-way impact. On the one hand, gadgets provide easy access to various information sources and can be used as interactive learning media. On the other hand, uncontrolled gadget use has the potential to reduce children's concentration, diminish their interest in learning, and even lead to a decline in academic achievement. Therefore, parental involvement in supervising and guiding children in their gadget use is crucial and cannot be ignored.
