Abstract

Anxiety often appears in the third trimester of pregnancy. Pregnant women may feel anxious about their baby's and their own life, worry that the baby will be born prematurely or abnormally, and fear the pain and physical dangers of childbirth. These anxieties often lead to sleep difficulties. Hypnobirthing therapy is an alternative complementary therapy that can help pregnant women feel more comfortable and relaxed. The objective of the research is to determine the effects of Hypnobirthing therapy in reducing anxiety and sleep disturbances in third-trimester pregnant women in the Putri Ayu Health Center, Jambi City. The method involves applying Hypnobirthing therapy to these women. The results show that after three days of Hypnobirthing relaxation therapy, anxiety levels decreased, as evidenced by the reduction in the Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale (PASS) score from 23 (moderate anxiety) before the intervention to 8 (mild anxiety) after the intervention. Additionally, sleep pattern disturbances were resolved. The conclusion is that Hypnobirthing therapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels and sleep disturbances in third-trimester pregnant women. It is recommended that health workers apply Hypnobirthing therapy to help manage anxiety and sleep issues in pregnant women.

Abstract

COVID-19 has changed the order of education in Indonesia. There is a big change in learning from formal education in the classroom to learning from home, with an online system. The online education system is certainly not easy. In addition to the personal discipline to study independently, there are facilities and resources that must be provided. Laboratory activities that hone students' abilities in developing skills for patients were forced to turn into audiovisual learning. In maternity nursing learning there are practices carried out in laboratories that develop students' hard skills and knowledge The design of this research is pretest and posttest without control group. The implementation of the audiovisual learning and module intervention was given in 4 sessions consisting of pregnancy, childbirth, newborns and the postpartum period. The questionnaire used in this study was a knowledge questionnaire and hard skill assessment on students using zoom. Number of respondents are 63 respondents. The results of the study show that there is an effect of audiovisual learning on students’ knowledge p=0,001 and soft skill p=0,001. This study shows an increase in the score of 80% of the number of respondents. This research recommends giving audiovisual learning to improve knowledge laboratory skills in maternity nursing.

Abstract

Approaching the birthing process, pregnant women experience various feelings, including anxiety. To reduce anxiety during childbirth is the presence of a maternal companion such as a husband. The husband's presence during the birthing process can have a positive effect on childbirth, namely reducing morbidity, reducing pain, shortening labor and reducing the number of births with operations such as caesarean section. Objective: To analyze research articles related to the relationship between husband's support and anxiety during the birth process. This study uses a literature study method, searching for articles using 6 electronic based articles, namely Goggle Scholar, Sematic Scholar, Pubmed, Garuda, Elsevier, Research Gate. With the keywords husband's support, anxiety, childbirth and husbands support, anxiety, childbirth process. Accredited Journal, full paper, published from 2017-2021. The results of the analysis of 11 articles showed the same result that there was a relationship between husband's support and anxiety during the birth process. This is indicated by the higher the husband's support, the lower the anxiety level of the mother giving birth. The conclusion of the article analysis results shows that there is a significant influence between the relationship between husband's support and anxiety during the birth process. So it is necessary to provide education regarding the importance of husband's support during the wife's birthing process.

Abstract

Public understanding in Indonesia about the benefits of MCH books is still low, so there is a lack of knowledge among mothers to recognize the signs and dangers of pregnancy due to low resources resulting in bleeding, malnutrition, hypertension, infection, rupture of membranes, lack of fetal movement and other complications suffered by mothers before pregnancy. One of the government's efforts to overcome this problem is by issuing a maternal and child health guidebook so that it can be read and other programs such as outreach related to KIA books. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on increasing pregnant women's knowledge about the benefits of KIA books during pregnancy at the Kenali Besar Community Health Center, Jambi City. This research uses a quantitative method with an experimental questionnaire approach with a one group pre test and post test design. The number of samples in this study was 30 and the population was 868 people. Respondents were taken using a purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used the Wilcoxon test. The results were obtained from the pre test. 16.63 and post test 26.76 results show a p-value of 0.000 (>0.05). Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the provision of health education about the benefits of MCH books during pregnancy.

Abstract

Anesthesia given to patients undergoing cesarean section can slow down gastrointestinal motility because it impedes nerve stimulation for peristalsis, leading to effects such as abdominal distension and even paralytic ileus. Several strategies and non-pharmacological interventions can be applied to enhance intestinal peristalsis, such as chewing gum to stimulate intestinal motility through the cephalic-vagal reflex, and early mobilization, which helps restore circulation more quickly, thus ensuring that the body's nutritional and oxygen needs are met. The urgency of this study lies in the combination of chewing gum and early mobilization as nursing interventions that simultaneously stimulate parasympathetic nerves to the intestinal muscles. The aim of this study is to assess the effect of combining chewing gum and early mobilization on the improvement of intestinal peristalsis and flatus in post-cesarean section patients. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test design approach. The sample in this study consisted of 50 cesarean section patients, with a non-probability sampling technique using consecutive sampling from patients undergoing cesarean surgery at Bhayangkara Hospital in Jambi. Data were collected using demographic questionnaires and checklists. The analysis using the paired t-test showed significant results (p < 0.05), indicating that the combination of chewing gum and early mobilization has an effect on increasing intestinal peristalsis and accelerating the first passage of flatus. The results of this study indicate that the combination of chewing gum and early mobilization leads to waves of intestinal motility, with an increase in parasympathetic nerve activity causing the release of acetylcholine, which in turn enhances the conduction of peristaltic waves along the intestinal wall, thereby improving intestinal motility and accelerating the time to first flatus. It is recommended that nurses implement these interventions to enhance intestinal peristalsis and accelerate the time to first flatus after a cesarean section.

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women globally. Beyond its physical impact, it brings complex psychological consequences, including stress, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can affect treatment adherence and quality of life. This literature review aims to explore the psychological impact of breast cancer diagnosis and identify the coping strategies used by patients to manage their emotional burden. A literature review was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. Selected studies focused on psychological effects and coping mechanisms among breast cancer patients, including family and social support, cultural-religious factors, and psychological interventions. The findings show that emotional distress following a breast cancer diagnosis is influenced by cancer stage, treatment type, physical changes, support systems, and cultural belief. Adaptive coping strategies such as religious faith, emotional support, positive reframing, and acceptance promote psychological adjustment and treatment compliance. In contrast, maladaptive strategies like avoidance and denial worsen emotional outcomes. Breast cancer has a profound psychological impact requiring comprehensive mental health care. Integrating psychological and cultural-religious support into cancer treatment improves emotional well-being and clinical outcomes.

Abstract

Hypertension is a medical condition that often requires long-term management to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Herbal therapy has become an intriguing focus of research in seeking effective and sustainable alternatives in lowering blood pressure. This literature review presents an analysis of seven scientific journals focusing on herbal therapy for hypertension. The study employs a Literature Review method by gathering articles from relevant journals. The review findings indicate that various herbal therapies, ranging from garlic combination herbal medicine, rosella flower decoction, green tea consumption, education on the use of gotu kola and turmeric leaves, to cucumber juice therapy, bay leaf, and papaya juice, have the potential to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The mechanisms of action of these herbs vary, including vasodilator, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. Based on the review of the seven published journals, it can be concluded that non-pharmacological therapy plays a significant role in hypertension treatment. These journals highlight the importance of considering comprehensive and individualized treatment options when managing hypertensive patients. Although the research methods vary, the results consistently indicate significant benefits of non-pharmacological treatment. However, further research is needed to validate these findings and expand our understanding of the efficacy and mechanisms of non-pharmacological treatments.
