Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penalaran kuantitatif siswa dalam memecahkan masalah ditinjau dari gaya kognitif Field Independent dan Field Dependent. Dua siswa MTs Maarif Sukorejo dipilih menjadi subjek penelitian berdasarkan kemampuan matematika yang tinggi dari hasil tes kemampuan matematika serta mewakili gaya kognitif Field Independent dan Field Dependent dari hasil group embedded figure test. Siswa yang terpilih diminta untuk memecahkan masalah matematika dan diwawancarai. Secara umum hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan penalaran kuantitatif antara siswa Field Independent dan Field Dependent. Siswa Field Independent dapat menyajikan seluruh informasi ada dalam soal, sedangkan siswa Field Dependent dapat menyajikan sebagian informasi pada soal dan tidak menyajikan beberapa informasi yang lain. Siswa Field Independent dapat menunjukkan keterbatasan berupa persamaan yang hanya bisa digunakan untuk menyelesaikan soal yang diberikan atau soal yang sama persis dengan soal yang diberikan, akan tetapi siswa Field Dependent tidak dapat menunjukkan keterbatasan metode matematisnya. Dengan mengetahui penalaran kuantitatif dan gaya kognitif siswa yang berbeda diharapkan guru dapat memberikan pembelajaran yang sesuai sehingga pembelajaran yang diberikan lebih optimal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan literasi matematik siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal model PISA ditinjau dari gaya kognitif reflektif-impulsif. Indikator literasi matematik dinilai pada proses merumuskan, menerapkan, dan menafsirkan. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IX-C SMP AL Muslim Sidoarjo. Matching Familiar Figure Test digunakan untuk mengetahui gaya kognitif siswa. Subjek penelitian dipilih berdasarkan tes gaya kognitif (TGK) dan tes kemampuan matematika (TKM). Selanjutnya, dipilih subjek seorang siswa dengan gaya kognitif reflektif dan seorang siswa impulsif berkemampuan matematika setara. Subjek akan mengerjakan soal tes literasi matematik (TLM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa reflektif memenuhi semua indikator literasi matematik untuk soal perubahan dan hubungan serta ruang dan bentuk. Siswa impulsif memenuhi semua indikator literasi matematik untuk soal perubahan dan hubungan. Namun, siswa impulsif tidak memenuhi indikator literasi matematik pada soal dengan konten ruang dan bentuk. Oleh karena itu, guru disarankan lebih banyak memberikan latihan untuk mengembangkan literasi matematik siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal model PISA dengan konten yang beragam.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategic competence of junior high school students in solving geometry problems in terms of gender differences. The indicators assessed include formulating, representing and solving problems. The subjects of this study were 1 male student and 1 female student in class IX-F of SMPN 1 Tulangan who had equal abilities. Furthermore, the subject worked on the task of solving geometry problems. The results showed that both subjects understood the problem by reading and drawing. In the first problem, the two subjects represented the problem by shading, calculating the area of ​​the warehouse and land using a rectangular area and then solving the problem by calculating the area of ​​the cut grass multiplied by the cost of cutting services. However, the female subject did not describe the shape of the object accurately and did not give a precise reason for the shape that had been described. In the second question, the two subjects chose the wrong strategy in representing the problem because they were unable to make another cardboard arrangement, as a result the process of solving the problem was wrong. Students need to be trained on non-routine geometry questions to develop their strategic competencies.

Abstract

Geometrical intuition is the ability to visualize, construct, and manage geometrical shapes in the mind when solving geometry problems. Geometrical intuition requires four skills: the ability to construct and manage geometrical figures in mind, perceive geometrical properties, connect pictures to concepts and theories in geometry, and determine where and how to begin when solving geometry problems. This geometric intuition ability is important for developing problem-solving. Therefore, we need a task that can be used to identify and develop students' geometric intuition abilities. This research aims to design a geometric intuition task. We employ design research methods to design geometrical intuition tasks by conducting a literature review on geometric intuition and geometry tasks, creating geometrical intuition tasks, and estimating and noting the possible student responses. This study produced three types of tasks based on the four components of geometric intuition. We provide a list of possible responses that junior high school students may provide, as well as practical suggestions for teachers. We recommend research using our developed task to evaluate students' geometrical intuition.
