Abstract

This article analyzes the framing differences in the coverage of Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election by two international media outlets, Xinhua News and The Washington Post. Using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis approach, the study explores how the two media define the problem, diagnose the cause, make moral judgments, and offer treatment recommendations regarding the political and social divisions in the United States. Xinhua News tends to emphasize optimism and solutions for the country's healing, stressing the importance of overcoming social and economic tensions. In contrast, The Washington Post is more critical, highlighting the growing political distrust and the potential impacts of Trump's policies on human rights, immigration, and the economy. These framing differences reflect the influence of media in shaping public perceptions of leadership and political policies, demonstrating how the ideological stance of media outlets can affect their portrayal of a significant political event. This research provides insights into the dynamics of media and politics in the context of elections.

Abstract

The traditional wisdom of tunggu tubang has shifted  due to economic needs, lack of agricultural land, job mobility, marriage with other than Semende tribe, which impacts the rights fulfilling and obligations of tunggu tubang. However, this shift has been  responded to by innovations so that this traditional wisdom persisted. This research  is to describe innovations in maintaining the traditional wisdom. This research uses descriptive quantitative method with 40 randomly chosen respondents. Data were taken from interviews using a questionnaire, and  interviews with key informants. The data were analyzed quantitatively with frequency tables, given the meaning with the structural functional approach of Talcott Parson, that traditional wisdom still functions when able to adapt,  goal attainment, integration, latent maintenance. The results showed:  92.5% tunggu tubang to get rights to houses, gardens, fields and carrying out their obligations, but 7.5% without these rights (tepang bangkang) so they cannot carry out their obligations, namely occupying an inheritance house, taking care of their parents and their younger siblings. Tunggu tubang property sold out. This violation is tolerated because of economic necessity. But tepang bangkang still the decision maker in the family and  can give the right for the next tunggu tubang. If tunggu tubang married to someone other than Semende tribe, her husband follows it.If working outside the city, rights are still given while obligations are carried out indirectly. This adaptation makes the  traditional wisdom survive, be the goal of life, carries out the function of integration, but the function of pattern maintenance is getting weaker.

Abstract

According to the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII), internet users in Indonesia are increasing and are quite high. In 2018, the results of a survey conducted by APJII found 171.1 million people or 73.7% increasing to 196.71 million people from internet use in Indonesia in a population of 266.91 million Indonesian population in 2019. (APJII, 2019). This research is to find out what are the contents of news messages from the City Government of Bandar Lampung and to find out how much the effectiveness of the use of dik.id media is in fulfilling the information needs of the people of Way Halim District. The Uses and Gratification model views individuals as suprarational and active beings, receiving criticism, however, the uses and gratification model changes attention so that it shifts from the process of sending messages to receiving messages. The core of the uses and gratifications theory is the idea that media users depend on media information in meeting their needs and achieving goals, where the model assumes three ways of interacting, the media, media users and society, which influence the media to interact. The concept of user satisfaction for media lik.id is divided into two, namely (1) the Gratifications Souhgt motive and (2) the satisfaction obtained. Satisfaction with the site based on the gap between gratifications sought and gratifications obtained. The smaller the discrepancy, the more satisfying. Meanwhile, the greater the discrepancy, the more unsatisfactory. Gratifications Sought is the satisfaction that users want in using the media, or the user chooses or does not choose the media because it is based on the motive of fulfilling the need. Research on motives for using the internet is used as a motive for media consumption. Satisfaction obtained as a result of using the media is the need for information, the need for personal identity, the need for integrity and interaction, and the need for entertainment

Abstract

Marital infidelity is one of the main causes of the increasing divorce rate in Indonesia. Despite being a religious society, the high number of cases of marital betrayal in Indonesia indicates a moral crisis and a weakening awareness of Islamic values. This study uses Stuart Hall's approach to media representation to analyse the film Ipar Adalah Maut as an Islamic da'wah medium representing the problem of infidelity, in relation to the da'wah communication concepts of bil hal, bil hikmah and bil lisan. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through documentation, a literature study and non-participatory observation. Qualitative analysis was conducted using semiotic and interpretative approaches. The results showed that the film conveys moral and religious messages through three representational strategies: reflective, intentional and constructionist. The scenes convey da'wah messages symbolically and emotionally, illustrating the destructive impact of infidelity and the importance of maintaining social boundaries in Islam. Da'wah bil hal is exemplified by an Islamic family, da'wah bil hikmah by a moving storyline, and da'wah bil lisan by the dialogue and prayers of the protagonist. Overall, this film successfully conveys Islamic da'wah values in a contextual manner, establishing it as a relevant and effective modern medium for da'wah communication.

With the presence of MLC as a mangrove conservation center that focuses on environmental education and ecotourism activities. The aim of this research is to evaluate the impact of ecotourism empowerment through MLC on increasing the economic value of the community in Margasari Village. Apart from that, empowering ecotourism also provides job opportunities for the community. MLC involves local communities in tourism management and services, such as being tour guides and food stall managers. This not only increases their income, but also provides an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge about the environment. However, there are still several challenges that need to be overcome. Among them, improving supporting infrastructure, such as better road access and adequate sanitation facilities. Apart from that, education and environmental awareness also need to be improved so that people can preserve mangroves and their ecosystems.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of political communication between Megawati Soekarnoputri and Puan Maharani in the leadership of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). Using a descriptive-analytical approach and Symbolic Interactionism theory, this research highlights the importance of symbols in shaping public perception of both leaders. The results of the analysis indicate that their political interactions influence the party's image, especially in the context of specific political events such as elections and policy controversies. The interpretation of political communication symbols also reveals the complexity of public perception towards the PDIP and its leaders. The implications for the PDIP leadership in facing political challenges, including coalition formation, underscore the importance of responsive and effective communication strategies. This study provides valuable insights into the dynamics of Indonesian politics and makes a significant contribution to understanding political communication and party dynamics in the country.

Abstract

Abstract - This study explores the strategic role of political buzzers in shaping public opinion through the social media platform TikTok during the 2024 Indonesian presidential election campaign, with a specific focus on the Prabowo Subianto–Gibran Rakabuming Raka presidential-vice presidential ticket. Using a qualitative approach through case studies and content analysis, the research investigates the communication strategies employed by buzzers, the types of content disseminated, and audience responses. The findings reveal that buzzers successfully rebranded Prabowo's image to appear more relatable and appealing to younger voters, as reflected in the viral narrative of "Prabowo Gemoy." This communication strategy significantly contributed to increased electability among millennial voters. However, buzzer activity also raises concerns due to the spread of misinformation, negative campaigning, and the intensification of political polarization. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening digital literacy and regulating buzzer activity to uphold a healthy democratic process. The research contributes to the broader discourse on digital political communication and offers insights into developing more ethical and responsible campaign strategies in the social media era.
