Abstract

Background: Breast milk is optimal for infant nutrition, and to ensure its sustained practice, maternal assistance from partners is essential, so that the breastfeeding process runs according to the expectations of the couple. Objectives: To identify the forms of support offered by partners for breastfeeding continuity. Methods: This research was conducted through a systematic review of qualitative research using three databases, namely PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect, published from 2014 to 2023. The JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research was utilized to critically evaluate the included publications, resulting in the inclusion of five studies. Results: Within the breastfeeding context, "husband support" can refer to several types of assistance, including emotional support, seeking breastfeeding information, helping with the mother's work, assisting in parenting responsibilities, and confiding in the mother and financial support. Only two of the seven studies indicated receiving financial support to replace the husband's role. Support from a partner makes a mother feel more confident about breastfeeding her baby. A positive response from the partner will help the mother feel more comfortable while breastfeeding her child. Conclusions: This systematic review provides a valuable reference for future research development by considering the phenomenon of spousal support for breastfeeding participation.

Abstract

The use of natural or conventional-based supplementation has become a popular strategy among athletes seeking to reduce oxidative stress, improve recovery, and enhance athletic performance. This literature review searched four reputable international electronic databases, including PubMed, MedRxiv, Cochrane, and Clinical Trial.gov until December 2021, using Boolean operators with keywords and Mesh methods. The keywords used were "Supplementation", AND "Muscle Fatigue Recovery", AND "Athletes", which yielded 24 articles as study findings. The literature review found that exhaustive exercise can induce a neutrophil antioxidant response by increasing antioxidant enzymes. Nutritional supplements, specifically antioxidant supplements, Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAA), citrulline, omega-3, and caffeine, have been scientifically proven to reduce oxidative damage, which can block signaling pathways related to muscle hypertrophy. In order to combat muscle fatigue in athletes based on this research (literature review), natural ingredients and synthetic nutritional supplements have been utilized as dietary interventions. This literature review identified numerous natural micronutrients and synthetic supplements used in sports that possess anti-fatigue properties, decrease oxidative stress and enhance athletes' endurance capacity. The effectiveness of nutritional supplements in addressing muscle fatigue may vary based on the various ingredients in the supplements. However, natural-based supplements have become a preferred option among athletes and coaches currently.

Abstract

Stunting, a nutritional concern, exerts adverse effects by influencing the physical and functional attributes of a child's body, contributing to elevated rates of child morbidity. Globally, the prevalence of stunting remains considerably high, registering at 22.2% in 2017, with approximately 55% of affected children in Asia and 39% in Africa. To Evaluate the connection between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting rates in lower middle-income countries. The research design was a systematic review. Article searches were conducted using Google Schoolar, Pubmed, Science Direct, and Scopus databases. The keywords used were "Exclusive Breastfeeding OR Lactation AND Stunting" and "Exclusive Breastfeeding OR EBF OR Lactation AND Stunting". Inclusion and exclusion criteria were used when selecting article titles and abstracts. The study encompassed a total of 9,949 and 16 articles for analysis. Exclusive breastfeeding provides adequate calories to fulfill the growth requirements of toddlers. Consequently, toddlers who do not exclusively breastfeed are at a higher risk of experiencing stunting. Among the thirteen articles examined in this research, an association between exclusive stunting and breastfeeding was consistently observed. Conversely, three articles conveyed no discernible correlation between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting. Furthermore, these articles highlighted the limited advantages of exclusive breastfeeding in preventing stunting. Toddlers who were not exclusively breastfed exhibited a higher probability of experiencing stunted growth, demonstrating a clear connection between the occurrence of stunting and exclusive breastfeeding

Abstract

Abstract Communication in healthcare services is an important indicator in determining the quality of hospital services, particularly in improving patient satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the role of communication, both patient-centered communication (PCC) and therapeutic communication, on patient satisfaction in hospitals through a scoping review. The scoping review was conducted based on the PRISMA-ScR guidelines using the PCC framework, which includes population (patients receiving hospital services), concept (healthcare communication such as PCC, therapeutic communication, and interpersonal communication), and context (hospital services). Article searches were conducted through PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar databases using the keywords (“patient-centered communication” OR “therapeutic communication”) AND (“patient satisfaction”) AND (“hospital”). A total of 18 articles met the inclusion criteria and reported that effective communication has a significant relationship with increased patient satisfaction across various hospital service units, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency departments. The most influential aspects of communication include empathy, clarity of information, patient involvement, and the ability of healthcare providers to build interpersonal relationships and trust. In addition, other factors such as response time, service quality, and cleanliness also contribute to patient satisfaction, although their influence is not as strong as communication. These findings indicate that improving the communication skills of healthcare providers is an important strategy to enhance service quality and patient satisfaction in hospitals. Keywords: patient-centered communication, therapeutic communication, patient satisfaction, hospital services, scoping review.

Abstract

Malnutrition among children under five remains a significant public health challenge worldwide, particularly in regions with limited access to adequate nutrition. Local supplementary feeding programs have been widely implemented as a strategy to address this issue. However, the effectiveness of these programs is highly dependent on the management policies governing their implementation. Despite the importance of this topic, the literature on the specific impact of these management policies on improving the nutritional status of children under five is fragmented and lacks comprehensive analysis. This study aims to map the literature related to the impact of local supplementary feeding management policies on improving the nutritional status of children under five. The first thousand days of life (1000 HPK) is a critical period that can permanently affect a child’s health and development. Despite ongoing efforts to address nutritional issues, such as stunting, challenges remain in the implementation of effective policies. A scoping review method was applied to explore various studies and related literature, focusing on the impact of nutritional interventions, policies, and local supplementary feeding management. This research was conducted through a systematic literature review, analyzing peer-reviewed articles, reports, and case studies on local supplementary feeding programs. The study focused on identifying the key management policies and their influence on the nutritional outcomes of children under five. Data were synthesized to uncover trends, effective strategies, and gaps in the existing research. The findings underscore the critical need for an integrated approach in nutrition programs, combining effective policy management, community involvement, and sustained resource allocation. Such an approach is essential to optimize the impact of supplementary feeding programs and ensure sustainable improvements in the nutritional status of young children. Future research and policy development should prioritize multi-sectoral collaboration and evidence-based interventions to address persistent challenges in child nutrition.
