Abstract

In several ways, the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has profoundly altered social and working environments. Social distancing policies, mandatory lockdowns, isolation periods, and the fear of becoming ill, in addition to the suspension of productive activity, loss of income, and fear of the future, all have an impact on citizens' and workers' mental health. Workplace factors can have a significant effect on whether people's mental health improves or deteriorates due to the pandemic. This article discusses Malaysian law's position on mental health and whether employers can be held liable for their employees' mental health. The goal of this article is to examine the legal aspects of workplace mental health issues. We conducted doctrinal research on existing laws and policies focusing on workers' rights issues related to mental health in the workplace during the pandemic. It is discovered that, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and sleep disorders are more likely to affect healthcare workers, particularly those on the frontlines, migrant workers, and workers in contact with the public. Job insecurity, long periods of isolation, and uncertainty about the future exacerbate the psychological condition, particularly among younger people and higher educational backgrounds. Therefore, numerous organisational and job-related interventions can help mitigate this scenario, but the regulatory mechanisms governing this matter must be clearly defined.

Abstract

The spirit of Article 4 of Law No. 43 of 2007 is regulated by Article 5 paragraph (3) of Law No. 3 of 2017 is concerning to increase users interest in reading by converting printed books into electronic books. However, this breakthrough also brings new legal issues, namely the potential for reduced economic rights of creators or copyright holders of printed books as well as the decentralization of authority to convert printed books into physical books by libraries even though these requirements have been regulated by Article 27 of Law No. 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright; there is still room for illegal duplication and even piracy. There are two methods used in this research. The statutory approach is used to review statutory regulations primarily and the conceptual approach is used to support the narrative text presentation with relevant scientific literature. The results of this research indicate a need for special regulations regarding the conversion of printed books into electronic books by libraries by paying attention to the Economic Rights of the Creator or Copyright Holder of printed books. In addition, conversions must be carried out under the supervision of the relevant institutions and submitted centrally to the National Library to ensure standard procedures and conversion quality, and reformulation of previous regulations is necessary.

Abstract

The rise of the gig workers has transformed the employment landscape, presenting both opportunities and challenges for workers globally. It has disrupted the traditional meaning of ‘employee’ with ambiguous and complex aspects, especially gig workers’ status. Practically, gig workers are individuals working under a contract for service with flexibility and independence elements that give them a sense of autonomy in performing their work. This study delves into the specific case of Peninsular Malaysia, investigating the issues and challenges gig workers face in the thriving market. The research adopts both library research and qualitative research methods, including interviews using a semi-structured approach. A total of 10 respondents were interviewed using a semi-structured method. The findings revealed that the challenges dwell in the issues of gig workers, which require high-time intervention of governance, policies, and legislation; there is still no definition of gig workers. There is a lack of social protection, an absence of employment contracts, an absence of price regulatory control, poor operational services, a gap between platform owners and the government, and a piecemeal institutional framework. Hence, this study offered recommendations on how to improve the enforcement.

Abstract

Abstract

Baitul Maal wat Tamwil is a financial institution with a sharia concept that was born as a choice that changes the concept of maal and tamwil in one institution. The concept of maal was born and became part of the lives of Muslim communities in terms of collecting and distributing funds for zakat, infaq and shadaqah) productively. While the Tamwil concept was born for purely business activities to benefit from the middle to micro sectors of society. One of the financing activities carried out by BMT is financing based on profit sharing principles. Profit sharing is done by two types with mudharabah and musyarakah contracts. musyarakah is derived from the word syirkah, also called syarikah, which means a cooperation agreement between two or more parties for certain businesses, each party providing the assistance fund, and will be borne together in accordance with the aid fund, or mutual agreement. The methods used in the writing of this article are normative research using a statute approach and a conceptual approach.the result of this research indicates distribution of funds or financing must pay attention to various matters relating to caution both from within and from outside the Islamic Financial Institutions of Islamic Banks and Non-Islamic Banks. Matters issued from internships are in the form of Legal Lending Limit (LLL), financing guidelines, operational aspects. Aside from internal, things that are of caution are also excluded from the external supported by 5C analysis (Character, Condition, Capacity, Capital, Guarantee) and sharia compliance). This analysis must be considered in channeling financing to avoid elements forbidden in Islam.

Abstract

Around 170,000 urinary tract stones (UTS) occur in Indonesia every year. The incidence rate of UTS is related to the source of drinking water. Recurrence of UTS can increase mortality and treatment costs. The purpose of this study was to find out the factors that cause urinary tract stones based on water characteristics. This type of research was analytical observational, using a multiple linear regression analysis design with a sample of 50 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. The characteristics studied using univariate analysis were water consumption characteristics, water sources, respondent health, water content, urine color, and urine composition. The regression analysis studied were the variables of PH, treatment, mineral water potable, taste water, well water source, soundness, tension, color, and clarity with the incidence of UTS. The results of the regression analysis showed that the p value (1.75) was greater than alpha so it can be concluded that there was no significant influence between PH, treatment, drinking mineral water, flavored water, well water source, soundness, tension, color, and clarity with the incidence of urinary tract stones.

Abstract

This study analyzes the interrelationships between weather parameters, including average temperature (Tavg), relative humidity (RH_avg), rainfall (RR), and average wind speed (ff_avg) in North Jakarta and Central Jakarta, and compares the performance of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) models in predicting these parameters. Data was collected from Tanjung Priok Maritime Meteorological Station in North Jakarta and Kemayoran Meteorological Station in Central Jakarta from December 2021 to December 2024. The results show that GRU performs better in North Jakarta, with RMSE of 9,02, MSE of 81,28, and MAE of 4,21 at 75 epochs, while LSTM yields RMSE of 10,02, MSE of 100,34, and MAE of 4,62 at 50 epochs. Conversely, LSTM outperforms GRU in Central Jakarta, with RMSE of 8,96, MSE of 80,22, and MAE of 4,65 at 100 epochs, while GRU produces RMSE of 9,53, MSE of 90,78, and MAE of 4,85 at 75 epochs. GRU is more effective in capturing extreme fluctuations, while LSTM excels in predicting interrelationships between parameters. This study provides insights into selecting the appropriate weather prediction model based on the priority of prediction accuracy or the ability to capture extreme fluctuations
