This study aims to determine the mental visualization and concentration of basketball players. This visualization affects the concentration of basketball players at SMA N 2 Medan. Physical education is a compulsory subject taught in Senior High Schools (SMA). In physical education learning activities, the most important thing related to the occurrence of an effective learning process in students is the teacher's ability to combine various learning conditions into learning activities, combining these learning conditions in the form of a teaching method. From the results of interviews conducted by researchers, several physical education teachers at the school stated that students are usually slow to master the basic techniques of basketball Lay Up so that the Minimum Passing Criteria (KKM) are difficult to achieve. Based on this problem, thoughts and desires arose to find alternative teaching models to convey basic basketball Lay Up techniques. In this case, an alternative was proposed by providing mental imagery training to students. Mental imagery is a person's ability to build a motion picture or skill in the mind or in the mind. Researchers want to know the effect of mental imagery training on student learning outcomes in mastering basic basketball Lay Up techniques in physical education learning. The population in this study was all students of class XI SMA Negeri 2 Medan. From this study it can be concluded that the use of mental imagery training has a significant effect on students' ability to master basic basketball dribbling techniques.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of various volleyball basic technique training methods, focusing on overhead serves and underhand passes, through an evidence-based approach. This study was conducted to address the need for more adaptive technical training to meet the demands of modern play, given that conventional training approaches, which tend to be repetitive, still dominate and often fail to improve skill transfer to game situations. The analysis was conducted on a number of studies that highlighted variations in training methods, such as blocked practice, random practice, mixed practice, paired drills, small-sided games, and the use of mechanical and visual feedback. The main findings show that blocked practice is effective in the early stages of movement pattern formation, while random and game-based practice is superior in skill transfer and long-term retention. Partner drills are more effective at improving groundstrokes than individual practice, while mechanical feedback has been shown to be more accurate in improving the kinematic consistency of overhead serves than verbal instruction. This study confirms that the most effective training approach is the integration of stabilization of basic movement patterns, variation in training conditions, game context, and data-based technical feedback. The results of this study can be used as a reference for coaches, sports educators, and practitioners to design training programs that are scientific, applicable, and relevant to the characteristics of modern volleyball

Abstract

Inroduction: Mastery of fundamental techniques, leg power, and coordination is a crucialdeterminant of performance in adolescent volleyball athletes. However, many young athletesface limitations due to training methods that lack variation, do not match their developmentalcharacteristics, and do not properly emphasize comprehensive biomotor development. Theseissues often result in suboptimal improvement in their essential skills. Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of specific training methods on enhancingfundamental techniques, leg power, and coordination among youth volleyball athletes, as wellas to evaluate the effectiveness of each training method in supporting athletic performancedevelopment. Methods: An experimental design was used by implementing two types of training programs—agility hurdle and agility ring—to adolescent volleyball players over a structured trainingperiod. Measurement instruments included fundamental skills tests, leg power assessments, and coordination tests administered before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the intervention.Data were analyzed to determine changes in athletes’ abilities following the training. Results: The results indicate that both training methods significantly improved fundamentalvolleyball skills, particularly in passing, serving, and spiking. Notable enhancement in legpower was observed through increased jump performance and movement explosiveness.Coordination improvements were more pronounced in athletes with higher initial coordinationlevels, suggesting that baseline ability influences training outcomes. Conclusion: Structured, varied, and well-targeted training methods are effective in improvingfundamental skills, leg power, and coordination in adolescent volleyball athletes. Thesefindings highlight the importance of selecting appropriate training strategies as a foundation for designing more effective and sustainable athlete development programs.

Abstract

Blocking is one of the most decisive survival skills in modern volleyball because it directly influences rally outcomes and the tactical momentum of the game. Each player position, namely Middle Blocker (MB), Opposite Hitter (OPP), and Outside Hitter (OH), has different technical, tactical, and cognitive demands. However, previous research has tended to discuss blocking ability in general without considering positional differences. This study aims to systematically review recent literature to compare the effectiveness of blocking, tactical strategies, and performance determinants for the MB, OPP, and OH positions at the elite level. The systematic review method was conducted based on the PRISMA guidelines, with searches in five databases: Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, and Google Scholar, covering the period from 2015 to 2024. Analysis of the article reveals a clear hierarchy of positions. MB players have the highest block success rate, followed by OPP and OH. Success factors include reaction time, lateral agility, vertical jump ability, hand technique, and tactical intelligence. The analysis results show a clear hierarchy regarding block effectiveness, with MB players having the highest block success rate, followed by OPP and OH. Block success is influenced by several key factors, including reaction time, lateral agility, vertical jump ability, hand technique, and tactical intelligence in reading opponent attacks. It is concluded that the effectiveness of the block is position-specific, so training programs need to be designed differently according to each player's role.

Abstract

This literature review aims to synthesize current evidence regarding the effects of balance training on body stability in volleyball athletes. A systematic search was conducted using academic databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar to identify studies published between 2000 and 2024 related to balance training, postural control, and performance in volleyball. The reviewed studies consistently demonstrate that balance training significantly improves static and dynamic stability, neuromuscular coordination, and injury prevention. The analysis highlights that incorporating balance exercises into volleyball training programs enhances athletes’ ability to maintain postural control during dynamic actions such as jumping, landing, and rapid directional changes. Despite these benefits, limited literature specifically examines volleyball populations, suggesting a need for more sport-specific investigations. Overall, evidence supports the inclusion of structured balance training as a vital component of volleyball conditioning to enhancestability and minimize injury risks Furthermore, future research should focus on identifying the optimal duration, intensity, and type of balance exercises that yield the greatest improvements in volleyball-specific performance. Comparative studies between beginner, intermediate, and elite athletes would provide valuable insights into how training adaptations differ across skill levels. Additionally, integrating balance training with other conditioning elements such as strength, agility, and plyometric training could produce a more comprehensive understanding of its synergistic effects on athletic performance. These findings would contribute to the development of evidence-based training protocols aimed at maximizing performance outcomes and reducing injury incidence among volleyball players.
