Abstract

This study aims to investigate the existence of a positive and significant relationship between mathematical perception, learning independence, and parental attention with mathematics learning achievement among eighth-grade students at SMP N 1 Parittiga. Additionally, the study aims to identify the variables that contribute the most to students' mathematics learning achievement at SMP N 1 Parittiga. The research method used in this study is ex post facto, involving a sample of 25 students. Data were collected through the completion of questionnaires on mathematical perception, learning independence, and parental attention, as well as by collecting documentation of students' midterm mathematics grades in eighth grade at SMP N 1 Parittiga. Data analysis included multiple correlation tests and partial correlation tests. The results of the study indicate that there is no significant relationship between mathematical perception, learning independence, and parental attention with mathematics learning achievement. Furthermore, no independent variable was found to have a dominant contribution to the dependent variable. However, it is important to consider other factors that may influence students' mathematics learning achievement in future research, such as intrinsic motivation and environmental factors in the home learning environment. Additionally, conducting research with a larger sample size and using more valid and reliable measurement tools is recommended to obtain more accurate and generalizable results.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the mathematical communication skills of eighth-grade students in junior high school regarding the topic of linear equations. The population of this study consisted of eighth-grade students in one of the schools in Yogyakarta. Prior to selecting the subjects, a self-esteem questionnaire was administered, and then 6 students were randomly chosen, with 3 students having high self-esteem and 3 students having medium self-esteem. The selected students were then given a written test on mathematical communication skills and an interview. The data collected for this study included the results of the written test and the interviews. Based on the data analysis conducted, it was found that among the six selected students, SP1 was able to answer the questions using written text, drawing, and mathematical expressions, but their communication of the answers was not accurate. SP2 exhibited higher mathematical communication skills compared to the other subjects. SP3 had low mathematical communication skills, SP4 had moderate communication skills, SP5 had low mathematical communication skills, and SP6 could be considered to have moderate communication skills. Therefore, it is expected that teachers can provide students with the freedom to solve problems according to their own understanding and ideas.

Abstract

Abstract

Technology always develops from time to time and is very closely related to real-life, which is to solve everyday problems. This study aims to describe the design of 3N-oriented TPACK-based mathematical computing modules (niteni, nirokke, nambahi). The method used is descriptive qualitative part of development research. This research resulted in an E-module design. Mathematical Computing E-Module has the following characteristics (1) containing the TPACK concept and 3N teachings that are designed to be attractive, (2) showing the appropriate 3N activities in the lecture process, and (3) inviting students to carry out niteni, nirokke, and nambahi activities during lesson. The design of 3N-Oriented TPACK based on Mathematical Computing E-Modules is declared valid.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics as a medium in learning mathematics also aims to introduce and preserve culture or history in Indonesia. Creative thinking is a thinking process to connect concepts in mathematics with real objects it faces, so it takes perseverance, personal discipline, which involves mental activities such as observing, asking questions, analyzing, using new information and unusual ideas to synthesize, make connections. , relationships, connecting with each other to form new understandings or concepts intuitively. In this regard, the aim of this research is to improve students' creative thinking skills in learning mathematics, especially rectangular and triangular shapes by providing treatment in mathematics learning using the ethnomathematics of the Sasmitaloka Museum Panglima Besar Jenderal Sudirman. This research was conducted at SMP in Yogyakarta. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a sample of 30 students divided into 2 classes, namely the control class and the experimental class. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there was an increase in students' creative thinking skills on the material of rectangles and triangles with the ethnomathematics of the Sasmitaloka Museum Panglima Besar Jenderal Sudirman in class VIII students where the Asymp score. Sig is less than 0.05, so it can be concluded that ethnomathematics can improve students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of E-Worksheets in enhancing students' problem-solving skills, with a specific focus on self-directed learning, in the topic of ratios. The research examines the impact of technology-based learning tools on students' ability to solve problems and explores the relationship between self-directed learning and problem-solving abilities. The study employs a control group design, comparing the performance of students using E-Worksheets with those in a control group. The findings indicate that the use of E-Worksheets significantly improves students' problem-solving skills compared to the control group. Moreover, the analysis reveals a positive association between students' level of self-directed learning and their problem-solving abilities. These findings support the integration of technology in the learning process to create interactive and engaging experiences that foster problem-solving skills. The study emphasizes the importance of cultivating students' self-directed learning and recommends strategies for educators to promote independent problem-solving and collaboration among students. The implications of this research contribute to the understanding of the role of E-Worksheets and self-directed learning in enhancing problem-solving skills and provide valuable insights for future research and educational practices.

Abstract

This article examines three types of induction methods in mathematics: mathematical induction, transfinite induction, and induction over the continuum. If a statement holds true for all natural numbers, it is proven using mathematical induction. If a statement holds true for all ordinal numbers, it is proven using transfinite induction. Since induction over the continuum cannot be applied to a statement, when something is said to be proven true for every point in [a, b), the proof is done using induction over the continuum.

Abstract

Teaching materials are materials used for learning. Teaching materials are certainly different from reference books. This is because the teaching materials have been adapted to the characteristics of the students to be taught. Teaching materials created and developed by teachers can be submitted for ISBN and copyright. This service activity follows the implementation of action activities consisting of Preparation/Planning, Implementation, Evaluation and Reflection. As a result of this activity, each participant has knowledge and insight about the basic concepts related to submitting ISBN and IPR learning modules.

Abstract

Classroom learning requires effective communication between teachers and students to create a conducive environment and enhance learning. This study analyzes the impact of teacher communication on students' interest in learning exponents using a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving 10th-grade students and a mathematics teacher at a vocational school in Yogyakarta, selected via purposive sampling. The findings show that effective communication increases students' motivation, active participation, and understanding of exponents. Interactive methods, such as discussions and QA sessions, foster student engagement and improve their grasp of the material. These results highlight the critical role of teacher-student communication in creating an enjoyable and effective learning experience, ultimately supporting better academic outcomes.
