Abstract

Kapuas Hulu Regency is lowland area of tropical rain forest which has many Dipterocarpaceae, one of  which is tengkawang ( Shorea spp). Forests in Kapuas Hulu are currently under threat because of the widespread exploitation of land  on a large scale without considering the balance of the ecosystem. Tembawang forest in Labian village has the potential of tengkawang trees which have not been known  to be distributed based on topography where is grows. The aim of this study is to obtian the distribution of tengkawang (Shorea spp) species based on topography in the tembawang forest in the Labian district of Kapuas hulu, Kalimantan. This research was conducted using a survey method with samples taken in census in six tembawang. The research results show that there are 4 species of tengkawang (Shorea spp). The disribution of tengkawang spesies based on the from of thopography of Shorea marcophylla Aston and Shorea seminis Slooten grew on the topografhy of the valley with a height of 0 - 87 meter above sea level and slope of 9% - 23 % in all tembawang spread in group closed to waterside and scattered clustered at the Shorea  pinanga Scheff  and Shorea stenoptera Bruck spread on slope in groups with a height of 60-70 meter above sea level. Keywords : distributions, dipterocarpaceae, tembawang, tengkawang

Abstract

Acacia mangium Willd has been developed industrial forest (HTI) in Indonesia. It uses as raw material for paper, pulp, building construction, furniture, firewood, container and others.Based on the result by PT . Finnantara, Acacia mangium Willd was age 6 months still much below the standards of company that is 2.7 m due to low soil fertility , so it is necessary to attempt for the restore fertility of the soil using type of compost is ESEM (Effective Microorganism System Emultion ). The result showed that the plant Acacia mangium Willd treated compost providing value added high average better than control treatmen. The highest value for plant height increment is the T4 treatment (dose 700gr), which has an average height of 121,4cm as well as having the highest value component P in 216,72 and component N in 0,40. In every treatment has increased in diameter trunk was different and T0 (control) has greatest in 2,20cm. Eventhouhg T0 has a low value of P componen in 22.44 and N componen in 0,17, but It has been able to increase the diameter of the plants. Keyword : Acacia mangium Willd, HTI, compost ESEM (Effective System Emultion Microorganism).

Abstract

Mahogany is a pioneer plant that can grow well in brackish sand near beach. Mahogany trees are also widely used as a bioremediation agent. Mahogany plants that will be used as a bioremediation agent must be a good seed , one of the factors that must be corrected to obtain good seed is by providing a good planting media as well. In West Kalimantan, there are a lot of alluvial soil that can be used as a medium of nursery . Alluvial soil is generally acidic (low pH) and nutrient poor so it will be a problem when it is used as a medium of nursery. The attempts to overcome this problem is by adding peat and rice husk on alluvial palanting media . This study was aimed to determine the effect of peat and rice husk on alluvial planting media on the growth of mahogany seedlings in the seedbed. According to analysis carried out showed there were not significantly different between treatments, but when viewed from the mean of plant height and the number of leaf growth, treatment B with the comparison of alluvial soil , peat and rice hulls (5:5:0) was the highest growth of trunks and leaves . Based on the observation, the largest growth of trunk diameter was on treatment C that was 0:59 mm. The difference of diameter growth at every treatment is essentially influenced by many factors, both external factors from natural ( climate and environment ) and internal factors (genetic) of seed plants. Key words: Planting media, peat, rice husk, alluvial, growth of mahogany seedling.

Abstract

Sungai Kupah Village, Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency. Geographically, this destination is crossed by the equator which is located between 109°10'8”E – 109°10'40”E and 0°1'36”S - 0°2'8''S with a developed area of 7500 km. The environmental and socio-cultural conditions of the Sungai Kupah Village community are currently being developed as a Telok Standing Ecotourism destination, but in the implementation of its management, it has not shown the principles of ecotourism. The development of Telok Standing Ecotourism can be optimal if it is supported by environmental interpretation activities. The method used in this research is a survey with interview techniques. The results of the data collection show that Telok Standing Ecotourism has natural resources that have the potential to be developed as a tourist destination in the form of physical potential, plant potential and cultural potential. The potential consists of mangrove ecosystems, rice field landscapes, Panjang Island, Kapuas River, lighthouse, 12 plants and 10 animals that are typical of mangroves, as well as settlement patterns, making coconut sugar and salted fish, eating sepulung, robo-robo and culmination. Based on the potential that exists in the mangrove ecotourism area of Sungai Kupah Village, the manager can plan 2 tour packages. Environmental education interpretation package with activities that visitors can do, namely studying mangrove ecosystems, getting to know mangrove ecosystem animals, getting to know coastal landscapes through lighthouses, and sunsets. Cultural tourism package activities in the form of saprahan, robo-robo, eating sepulung, and social traditions of the Coastal community. Keywords: ecotourism, interpretation, mangrove. Abstract

Shorea leprosula belongs to the Dipterocarpaceae family and grows in Indonesia's tropical forests which have an economic and ecological role. They are a plant in tropical forests that is known as a producer of fruit and tengkawang oil. The presence of S. leprosula trees in the habitat naturally at this time was very hard to find and began to decrease in population. This study aims to determine the potential and distribution pattern of S. leprosula found around KHDTK Aek Nauli. The research method uses the plot path method measuring 20 m × 20 m, the total number of plots is 150 plots. The research results show that the potency of S. leprosula is 63.17 m3 ha-1. The highest important value index of S. leprosula at the tree level was 25.45%. The distribution pattern of S. leprosula at the sapling, pole, and tree levels was clustered, while the distribution pattern at the seedling level was random. The importance of information about the potential and pattern of S. leprosula to be known as an indicator of the current status of its population at KHDTK Aek Nauli and as an information basis for managing management S. leprosula for support preservation in the forest.
