Abstract

This paper examines the strengthening of students' religious character education through religious practices at Al-Islam Plus Krian Elementary School. The research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion techniques. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The study identifies various religious activities that strengthen students’ character, including the 7S culture, praying before and after learning, reciting hadiths and daily prayers, Quran recitation, reading Asmaul Husna, istighosah, congregational prayers (Duha, Zuhr, Asar, Friday), tarjamah, tahfidz Al-Qur’an, and PHBI activities. The findings indicate that these religious practices have a significant impact on students, enhancing their understanding of positive behaviors and encouraging them to apply these practices in their daily lives according to Islamic Shariah principles.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has not been matched by sufficient research on how pre-service English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers perceive the use of AI for developing instructional modules. This study explores these perceptions among pre-service EFL teachers from three universities in Indonesia who already have experience using AI. Most participants were female, in the final stage of their studies, and enrolled in a micro-teaching course. A survey was administered using an online questionnaire to investigate the practices and experiences of AI among pre-service teachers and analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The findings show that the pre-service teachers were enthusiastic yet cautious in using AI. Many used AI regularly, while others used it occasionally. They perceived clear benefits of AI, particularly in generating ideas, improving efficiency, and enhancing the quality of learning materials. AI was most commonly used to design lesson topics, develop content, and create test items. However, several challenges were identified, including plagiarism risks, inconsistent AI-generated outputs, and concerns about overreliance on AI. ChatGPT was the most frequently used tool, and participants expressed interest in more adaptive features that tailor content to students’ needs. The study recommends that AI use in teacher education be guided by instructors, with limited use in student assignments to maintain ethical standards and critical thinking skills. These findings provide valuable insights into AI literacy and pedagogical AI applications, contributing to the development of AI-adaptive teacher education curricula.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a Project Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the social values of Surah Al-Ma’un on elementary school students’ social attitudes. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants were 30 fifth-grade students of SDN Wonoplintahan 2, Sidoarjo Regency, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a validated social attitude test. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, paired sample t-test, and effect size calculation (eta squared). The results indicated a statistically significant improvement in students’ social attitudes after the implementation of PBL integrated with the values of QS. Al-Ma’un, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The effect size was categorized as very large. These findings demonstrate that integrating PBL with religious values effectively enhances students’ empathy, social care, cooperation, and social responsibility, and supports character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Strengthening religious attitudes among elementary school students is an important necessity amid globalization, while learning in schools still often focuses on cognitive aspects. One effort that can be made is the application of the Project Based Learning model integrated with religious values in Pancasila Education. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a Project-Based Learning model with religious values on the religious attitudes of fourth-grade elementary school students. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The research subjects included all 25 fourth-grade students at SDN Candipari 2. Data processing used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Paired Samples T-Test, and Partial Eta Squared calculation with the help of SPSS version 25. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in students' religious attitudes after the implementation of the Project Based Learning model, with a value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a Partial Eta Squared value of 0.869, which is classified as a large effect. These findings indicate that the implementation of Project Based Learning integrated with religious values is effective in improving the religious attitudes of elementary school students.

Abstract

This qualitative study aimed to explore the strengthening of independent characters among Class II elementary school students during the Period of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM). The research utilized observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques, with the principal, Class II teachers, and guardians of Class II students as subjects. The analysis revealed that four indicators for strengthening independent character were identified within the learning process, despite some suboptimal outcomes influenced by various factors, including students themselves, teachers, and parents. The main strategy employed to enhance independent character was the involvement of parents in providing reinforcement, along with the teachers serving as positive role models. The most frequently implemented indicator for independent character strengthening was completing tasks without disturbing others, employing critical thinking and problem-solving approaches. Moreover, teachers fostered independent characters throughout all learning activities and actively cooperated with parents. These findings highlight the importance of cultivating independent character in elementary schools, emphasizing the significance of self-reliance, critical thinking, and cooperative learning. The implications of this study can inform educators, parents, and policymakers in designing effective interventions to foster independent characters among elementary school students during challenging periods such as PPKM. Highlights: Importance of parental involvement: The study emphasizes the significance of parents' participation in strengthening the independent characters of Class II students during the PPKM period. Role modeling by teachers: Teachers play a crucial role in setting a positive example and modeling independent character traits for students in the learning process. Fostering critical thinking and problem-solving: The implementation of critical thinking and problem-solving models in classrooms contributes to the development of independent characters among Class II students.
