Abstract

Students' scientific argumentation ability is important in physics lessons but is still not optimal. Therefore, a teaching module is needed that can help develop this ability. This study aims to produce teaching materials in the form of momentum and impulse modules through effective and feasible physics modeling learning to improve students' scientific argumentation abilities. This study uses the ADDIE development model. The subjects of the research trial were 20 students consisting of 2 classes XI A Boys and XI A Girls of SMA IT Arafah Sampit. The effectiveness of learning reviewed from the student learning outcome test obtained an effective category with an average n-gain score of 0.58 which is categorized as effective in measuring scientific argumentation abilities. Thus, it is found that the use of physics modeling learning through momentum and impulse modules can improve students' abilities in scientific argumentation.

Abstract

Science learning should provide meaningful experiences for students to understand various scientific phenomena in life. Integrating local wisdom in learning can improve scientific literacy because the various concepts learned are witnessed directly by students in life. This research aim of developing science LKPD integrated with local wisdom of sasirangan natural colors to improve project-based science literacy with the STEAM approach. The research approach used is qualitative research. Based on the research results and discussion, it can be concluded that the project-based learning model is very appropriate to be applied with the STEAM approach so that learning activities are student-centered, create meaningful learning, and train science literacy. Based on these findings, teachers should design media and lesson plans that are integrated with local wisdom and apply them in classroom learning.

Abstract

Based on initial questionnaire data filled out by Mathematics and Natural Sciences teachers in Barito Kuala (Batola) Regency and Banjarmasin City, it was found that understanding and application of STEM Coding in schools is still low, so it is necessary to hold a STEM Coding community service workshop. This community service project aims to help participants develop critical thinking, creative, collaborative, and STEM literacy (4C) skills. The four stages of the community service method are planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation. A total of 127 teachers participated in the workshops. Speakers from PPSTEMI, Artec Japan, and WOW Singapore presented in the hybrid format event. The material consists of three modules: STEM-based learning, STEM Coding programming with Arduino Basic (Stop and Go), and Intermediate (Controlling a Motorized Car). Activities were evaluated using a response questionnaire, to which 127 people responded. The findings revealed that, on average, 95.47% of participants thought favorably of this STEM Coding exercise.Critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and STEM literacy are among the skills that workshop attendees can acquire—wrapped up this STEM Coding workshop to help them become more STEM literate. Abstract

This community service (CS) aimed to develop the competence of high school mathematics teachers through workshops integrating computational thinking in Barito Kuala Regency. The implementation method of this consisted of preparation, activity implementation and mentoring, and evaluation stages. In the preparation stage, a computational thinking workshop module was developed for mathematics material and distributed to participants during the training activities. Community service with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach is oriented towards community empowerment so the community can become an actor of change. Community service activities facilitate bridging mathematics teachers to develop CT in this case. This CS activity was conducted over two face-to-face meetings from August to September 2024. This CS activity was implemented in the Global Islamic Boarding School (GIBS) computer laboratory in Barito Kuala Regency. The participants who attended were 54 high school mathematics teachers from the region. The evaluation instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire filled out by participants via Google Forms. After the workshop, The evaluation showed that most teachers understood that CT was related to problem-solving through a systematic, logical, and algorithm-based approach. The high average score indicated that the training provided successfully introduced and effectively explained the CT concept. The involvement and active participation of teachers were very evident in this activity. Furthermore, an interesting finding was that teachers expressed 89.8% agreement that computational thinking needed to be taught to students. This was because CT could help students think critically and logically and build mental resilience, thereby increasing their readiness for the world of work in the future.

Abstract

The Effect of Physics Modeling Learning Module to Improve Science Generic Skills on Momentum and Impulse Topics. The learning process dominated by lectures and the use of conventional teaching materials that are difficult for students to understand leads to low generic science skills in students. One-way, teacher-centered learning causes students to become passive. Meanwhile, abstract and quantitative material on momentum and impulse requires a conceptual and visual approach to make it easier for students to understand. Objectives: This study aims to determine the impact of using physics modeling learning modules on the improvement of generic science skills in impulse and momentum material. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach, applied to 34 students in class X.1, who served as research subjects at SMA Negeri 1 Alalak. The data were analyzed using n-gain scores and a paired sample t-test to determine the magnitude of the effect before and after treatment was administered. Findings: The analysis reveals that the use of effective physics modeling learning modules can enhance generic science skills, yielding an n-gain of 0.81. A substantial difference between the conditions before and after using the physics modeling learning module is also evident in the results of the paired sample t-test, which demonstrates how using the module affects students' development of generic science skills. Conclusion: Physics modeling learning modules have significantly and successfully enhanced students' generic science skills related to momentum and impulse content. Keywords: impulse, module, momentum, physics modeling learning, science, generic skills.

Abstract

Currently, teaching materials are needed that can be accessed offline and online to make it easier for students and teachers such as e-books.  e-books can be further developed with interactive features. The results of observations on a number of teachers show that teachers have not been able to create digital learning media for them to use in learning. This community service aims to improve the ability of teachers to develop digital learning media using the Flipbook PDF Professional software which will be hosted on Google Drive. This activity was carried out at the Madani Islamic High School, Banjarmasin City. The methods used in the training include stages (1) planning, (2) implementation, and (3) evaluation of activities. The results of the implementation and evaluation of activities show that training on the development of digital learning media using flipbook PDF Professional software for teachers in the city of Banjarmasin has had a positive impact on participants in the form of increasing their ability to develop learning media digitally.  The positive response to the implementation of the training shows that training on the development of digital learning media into e-books is considered useful for use in the learning process in the digital era at this time.
