Abstract

The difficulty of writing and publishing scientific articles in reputable journals is something that is often experienced by academics, especially in universities. Various difficulties are experienced, ranging from language, time, cost, and access to literature expressed by those who have been difficult to realize their obligations. This Academic Writing Series (AWS) activity aims to not only increase the knowledge of academics about the world of writing, but also share strategies so that they are more likely to write and publish their scientific articles. This activity is carried out online through zoom meetings for 10 meetings held every week. Participants responded well to AWS activities as indicated by statements regarding the organization and materials presented. From this activity, it is known that the basic needs of academics regarding writing strategies and scientific publications still need to be improved. Academics' knowledge of how to write easily and effectively is also still limited. AWS activities framed in community service emphasize that various strategies are needed in an effort to improve the writing skills of academics so that they are able to disseminate their research results more widely through publications in reputable journals. This activity is only carried out through online media so it needs to be complemented by face-to-face meetings so that interaction can be maximally realized both between presenters and participants and among fellow academics involved in this AWS activity

Abstract

Local culture plays a strategic role in shaping and maintaining the identity of the diverse Indonesian nation. In the context of higher education, local culture does not merely function as a heritage of tradition but also as a source of values and character that can strengthen students’ national consciousness. This research aims to analyze the role of local culture as the foundation of national identity at the university and to identify strategies for implementing cultural values in the educational process and at campus life. This research employes a descriptive qualitative approach using interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), participatory observation, and document analysis to collect data. The findings indicate that the internalization of local cultural values through curriculum, student activities, and academic culture can strengthen the self-identity of students as the nation’s next generation. Thus, higher education institutions play a crucial role as agents of cultural preservation while simultaneously driving national ideology through the development of academic and non-academic programs rooted in local values. Thus, strengthening local culture in higher education is a strategic step in building a national identity that is characterized, competitive, and uniquely Indonesian.

Abstract

The low interest in literacy among Generation Z has led to limited knowledge and understanding regarding early marriage. This condition contributes to the increasing prevalence of early marriage practices, which remain difficult to control, particularly within urban Muslim societies. This study aims to explore Generation Z’s perception and literacy level concerning early marriage practices, as well as to examine the gap between literacy (knowledge) and social reality (practice). This study used a descriptive qualitative method. It had three steps. First, the researcher prepared the research tools and plans. Second, data were collected through interviews and documents about Generation Z’s views on early marriage in an urban Muslim society. Third, the data were analyzed by organizing, coding, and interpreting the information to identify themes related to how Generation Z views early marriage. The findings reveal that Generation Z’s literacy on early marriage remains relatively low. The main factors include a lack of personal awareness, insufficient parental guidance, and limited socialization from the government and religious institutions. This lack of literacy contributes to the rise of early marriage cases, which often result in divorce due to emotional and economic immaturity. The study highlights the importance of promoting critical literacy and contextual education among Generation Z to enhance their awareness of the risks of early marriage and to encourage them to make more mature, well-informed marital decisions.

Abstract

This study addresses the pressing need for effective reading strategies among non-native Arabic language learners, who often encounter considerable obstacles in decoding and understanding Arabic texts due to the language’s complex morphology and diglossic nature. The main aim is to identify and classify strategic approaches that enhance Arabic reading proficiency and, in doing so, support broader language acquisition. Framed within the discourse of second language pedagogy, the research draws attention to the lack of focused studies on Arabic reading skills, emphasizing its theoretical and pedagogical significance. Using a systematic literature review, the study synthesizes findings from recent scholarship to evaluate cognitive, affective, and metacognitive strategies that benefit non-native learners. Results indicate that Direct Memory Strategies are essential for vocabulary retention and text recall, while Direct Cognitive and Compensation Strategies help bridge comprehension challenges. In addition, Indirect Cognitive, Affective, and Social Strategies contribute to learner motivation and collaboration, which are vital for maintaining sustained engagement with Arabic texts. These findings confirm that a multimodal strategic framework can meaningfully enhance Arabic reading competence as a second language. The study offers both theoretical insights and practical guidance for educators, curriculum developers, and policymakers working in Arabic language education.
