Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal open-ended jenis PISA ditinjau dari level sekolah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian survei dengan sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas X SMA (n = 260) di Kabu­paten Lampung Timur dengan level sekolah tinggi (k = 5), sedang (k = 3) dan rendah (k = 2) ber­dasarkan akreditasi. Sampel penelitian ditentukan dengan stratified proporsional random sam­pling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif jenis soal open-ended PISA yang terdiri atas enam butir soal uraian dan pedoman wawancara. Instrumen tes yang digunakan telah dilakukan validasi isi oleh tiga orang ahli dengan rata-rata hasil validasi berka­tegori baik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal open-ended jenis PISA pada sekolah level tinggi berada pada kategori cukup, pada sekolah level sedang berada pada kategori kurang, sedangkan pada sekolah level rendah berada pada kategori cukup. Mathematical creative thinking ability in solving open-ended problems of PISA type based on school levelAbstractThis research aimed to describe students' mathematical creative thinking ability in solving open-ended problems of PISA type based on the school level. The research was a survey with the sample was grade-ten students (n = 260) of senior high school with categories of the high (k = 5), medium (k = 3), and low school (k = 2) based on their accreditation in the district of Lampung Timur, Indonesia. We used stratified proportional random sampling to determine the sample. The instruments used in this research consisted of a creative thinking ability test with six con­structed response items and interview guidelines. Three experts had validated the instrument of a test, and it was proved to be valid in terms of content with a good category. We analyzed the collected data based on the indicator of creative thinking ability. The result showed that students' mathematical creative thinking ability to solve open-ended problem PISA type at high-level schools was in the moderate category, at medium-level schools was in the poor category, while at low-level schools in the moderate category.

Abstract

Adversity Quotient (AQ) is a person's ability to overcome difficulties someone faces. It shows how students overcome their difficulties. This study aims to describe the students’ AQ in online mathematics learning during the Covid-19 pandemic era and see if there is an effect of the number of platforms used when learning on students' AQ. A survey method is used with 2093 respondents consisting of Senior High School, Islamic Senior High School, and Vocational High School students from 32 provinces in Indonesia. The instrument of the Adversity Response Profile (ARP) questionnaire consists of 30 statements with two questions each. However, two open-ended questions were given before proceeding to the ARP questionnaire. The ARP questionnaire was made in and distributed through Google Form. The results show that students’ AQ in online mathematics learning was Camper. This means that the respondents were sufficient in overcoming difficulties when learning mathematics online, but they were quickly satisfied with the results which led them not to develop themselves further. Furthermore, there is no effect of the number of platforms used when learning mathematics online on the students' AQ.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tahap berpikir geometri siswa SMP menurut teori Van Hiele  ditinjau dari keterampilan geometri.  Jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Sampel penelitian adalah sembilan siswa kelas VIII dari tiga SMP Negeri Kota Sampit yang dipilih menggunakan teknik stratified proportional random sampling dan dilanjutkan dengan purposive sampling. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap subyek setelah diberikan tes keterampilan geometri. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah kualitatif secara interaktif maju berkelanjutan di antara pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, triangulasi data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa: (1) keterampilan geometri siswa beragam pada tiap tahap berpikir geometri; (2) keterampilan verbal dan keterampilan menggambar merupakan keterampilan yang banyak dikuasai subjek; (3) keterampilan verbal merupakan keterampilan yang paling sulit bagi siswa; (4) tahap berpikir geometri siswa SMP kelas VIII SMP Negeri Sampit adalah 43,6% siswa berada di tahap 0 (visualisasi), 35,1% siswa di tahap 1 (analisis), dan 21,3% siswa di tahap 2 (deduksi informal).AbstractThis study aimed to describe the geometric thinking stages of junior high school students according to van Hiele's theory in terms of geometry skills. This type of research is descriptive using a qualitative approach. The research sample was nine 8th grade students from three public junior high schools in Sampit City, Indonesia, who were selected using a stratified proportional random sampling technique and followed by purposive sampling. Research data were collected through in-depth interviews with subjects after being given a geo­metry skills test. The data analysis technique was an interactively qualitative, continuous process between data collection, data reduction, data presentation, data triangulation, and concluding. The results of the study revealed that: (1) students' geometry skills varied at each stage of geometric thinking; (2) verbal and drawing were the skills that mastered mainly by subjects; (3) verbal skill was the most difficult for students; (4) the geometric thinking stage of students was 43.6% of students in stage 0 (visualization), 35.1% of students in stage 1 (analysis), and 21.3% of students in stage 2 (informal deduction).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan keefektifan pembelajaran matematika berbasis masalah, problem posing, dan pendekatan konvensional serta perbandingan keefektifannya ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir logis dan kritis. Jenis penelitian adalah quasi experiment dengan pretest-posttest with nonequivalent group design. Populasi penelitian adalah 240 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Ciamis. Tiga kelas diambil secara acak untuk sampel penelitian, kemudian ditentukan lagi secara acak kelas eksperimen pertama, kelas eksperimen kedua, dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan berpikir logis dan tes kemampuan berpikir kritis yang terdiri atas soal pretest dan posttest. Teknik analisis data meliputi t-one sample test untuk menguji keefektifan masing-masing pendekatan pembelajaran dan MANOVA untuk menguji perbedaannya yang dilanjutkan dengan uji  univariat. Semua uji menggunakan taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan problem posing keduanya efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir kritis tetapi tidak efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir logis sedangkan pembelajaran konvensional tidak efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir logis maupun kemampuan berpikir kritis; (2) ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir logis, tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan problem posing tetapi keduanya lebih unggul dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional sedangkan jika ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir kritis, pembelajaran berbasis masalah lebih unggul dibandingkan pembelajaran problem posing dan pembelajaran konvensional serta pembelajaran problem posing lebih unggul dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional. Kata Kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, problem posing, kemampuan berpikir logis, kemampuan berpikir kritis   THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING AND PROBLEM POSING IN TERM OF THE LOGICAL AND CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY Abstract This study aims to describe the effectiveness of mathematics instruction through the problem-based learning, problem posing, and conventional learning approach with their effectiveness compa-ration in terms of logical and critical thinking ability. This research was a quasi-experimental study using the pretest-posttest with nonequivalent group design. The population of this research was all 240 students of grade VIII SMPN 2 Ciamis. Three classes were randomly established as the research sample, later established randomly the first experimental class, second experimental class, and control class. The instruments used in the research were a logical thinking ability test and critical thinking ability test, consisting of a pretest and posttest. The data analysis techniques consisted of the t-one sample test to investigate the effectiveness of each learning approaches and MANOVA to investigate their difference and continue by univariate test. All of tests use the 5% of significance level. The results of the research show that: (1) both of the problem-based learning and problem posing are effective in terms of critical thinking but they are not effective in terms of logical thinking and the conventional approach is not effective in terms of both the logical and critical thinking; (2) in terms of logical thinking, there are not signifficant difference between problem-based learning and problem posing approaches but they are better than conventional approach and in terms of critical thinking, problem-based learning is better than both of problem posing and conventional approaches and problem posing is better than the conventional approach. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektifitas problem-based learning ditinjau dari keterampilan pemecahan masalah dan kemandirian belajar matematis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Quasi Experimental dengan populasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Ngadirejo Temanggung tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak dengan mengambil 3 kelas dari 7 kelas yang ada, dan terpilih kelas VIII A sebagai kelas ujicoba, kelas VIIIB sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan kelas VIIIC sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes keterampilan pemecahan masalah matematis dan skala kemandirian belajar matematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa problem-based learning efektif ditinjau dari keterampilan pemecahan dan kemandirian belajar matematis. Terdapat perbedaan efektivitas antara problem-based learning dan pembelajaran konvensional ditinjau dari keterampilan pemecahan masalah dan kemandirian belajar matematis. Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara keterampilan pemecahan masalah dan kemandirian belajar matematis.The effectiveness of problem-based learning in terms of mathematical problem-solving skills and self-regulatedAbstractThis study aims to determine the effectiveness of problem-based learning in terms of mathematical problem-solving skills and self-regulated. This study is quasi-experimental with a population of students of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Ngadirejo Temanggung academic year 2017/2018. The sampling was done randomly by taking 3 of 7 classes, and the elected class was VIII A, VIIIB, and VIIIC. Then, the three classes were randomized to determine the tryout class, control, and experimental class. Class VIIIB was selected as an experimental class, VIIIC as a control class and VIIIA as a tryout class. The instrument used was the test of mathematical problem-solving skills, the scale of self-regulated learning and observation sheet of learning implementation. The results of this study showed that problem-based learning is effective in terms of mathematical problem-solving skills and self-regulated learning. There is a difference in effectiveness between problem-based learning and conventional learning in terms of mathematical problem-solving skills and self-regulated learning. There is a significant relationship between mathematical problem-solving skills and self-regulated learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan keefektifan penerapan model experiential learning dan menentukan mana yang lebih efektif antara model experiential learning dan pembelajaran konvensionalpada pembelajaran matematika materi bangun ruang sisi datar ditinjau dari prestasi belajar dan apresiasi siswa terhadap matematika. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi-experiment dengan pretest-posttest nonequivalent comparison-group design. Populasi dan sampelnya adalah siswa Kelas VIII MTs Negeri Sidoharjo dan siswa Kelas VIIIA dan VIIIB. Untuk menguji keefektifan pembelajaran metamatika dengan model experiential learning dan konvensional digunakan analisis dengan uji proporsi. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan keefektifan pembelajaran matematika dengan model experiential learning dan konvensional, data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji T2 Hotelling’s, dan uji t dengan kriteria Bonferroni untuk menentukan model pembelajaran manakah yang lebih efektif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model experiential learning lebih efektif dari pembelajaran konvensional pada pembelajaran matematika materi bangun ruang sisi datar ditinjau dari prestasi belajar dan apresiasi siswa terhadap matematika.Kata Kunci: model experiential learning, konvensional, prestasi belajar, dan apresiasi matematika. The Effectiveness of Experiential Learning in Mathematics Learning  in Subject Matter of Flat Side Construct AbstractThis study aims to determine the effectiveness of the experiential learning model and to determine which one is more effective between the experiential learning model and the conventional one in mathematics learning in subject matter of flat side construct viewed from the learning achieve-ment and students’ appreciationof mathematics. This study was a quasi-experimental study using the pretest-posttest nonequivalent comparison-group design. The research population comprised all Year VIII students, consisting of 4 classes of MTs Negeri Sidoharjo. From the population, two classes, Class VIIIA and Class VIIIB, were selected randomly as the research sample. To test the effectiveness of the mathematics learning through the experiential learning model and conventional learning, the proportion test was carried out. Then to compare the effectiveness of the two models, the data were analyzed using T2 Hotelling’s test, and the t-test to find out which of the two models was more effective. The results of the study show that the experiential learning model is more effective than the conventional in mathematics learning in subject matter of flat side construct viewed from the learning achievement and students’ appreciationof mathematics.Keywords: experiential learning model, conventional, learning achivement, and mathematics appreciation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe proportional reasoning skills and students’ difficul­ties in solving proportional reasoning problems. The population of this research was 3480 seventh-grade students of state junior high schools in the Yogyakarta region. The samples were 158 students chosen using proportionate stratified random sampling that represent four categories of school (very high, high, me­dium, low) based on the average scores of the national examination in mathe­matics in 2016. Data were collected through essay tests and interviews. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result showed that the stu­dents in very high and high category schools had moderate proportional rea­soning ability. Students in medium and low category schools had low propor­tional reasoning ability. Students’ difficulties in solving proportional reasoning problems vary based on the type of the problem, such as the difficulty in finding the multiplicative relationship contained in the problem, the difficulty in under­standing the value of inverse proportion, and the difficulty in explaining the obtained solution of the problems.

Abstract

This quantitative-qualitative descriptive study aims to reveal the mathematics understanding of prospective student-teachers, describe the types of their mistakes in mathematics understanding, and recommend appropriate teaching of mathematics understanding. The subjects were 34 first-year students taking the Geometry course in the Mathematics Education Study Program, at a State University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The test instrument was consisting of four items, two of which were about the problems of procedural instrumental understanding and the other two were about the problems of relational understanding. The data were analyzed through the stages of reducing data, presenting data, and concluding data. The results show that students' mathematical understanding is categorized as good (87.75%). Students' procedural instrumental understanding (87.75%) is better than their relational understanding (77.52%) which is in good and sufficient categories, respectively. Some students made mistakes in representing theorems, performing mathematical procedural using appropriate concepts/theorems, and interpreting conclusions or proofs using appropriate notation and representation. It is recommended that mathematical learning should prioritize relational understanding by exploring a concept with other concepts and using various representations, situations, and contexts. Learning should focus more on relational understanding, namely discussing a concept and its relationship with other concepts with different representations, situations, and contexts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa perangakat pembelajaran geometri SMP dengan pembelajaran berbasis masalah yang valid, praktis dan efektif dilihat dari prestasi belajar. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan model Borg Gall yang mencangkup tiga tahapan utama yaitu: (1) tahap studi pendahuluan, (2) tahap desain produk, dan (3) tahap studi pelaksanaan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah perangkat pembelajaran geometri SMP dengan pembelajaran berbasis masalah yang terdiri atas silabus, RPP, LKS dan Tes Hasil Belajar (THB). Kualitas perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan terdiri dari tiga aspek, yaitu aspek kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan. (1) Hasil penilaian aspek kevalidan silabus, RPP, LKS, dan THB dengan revisi dan layak digunakan. (2) Aspek kepraktisan berdasarkan hasil penilaian guru pada RPP dan LKS adalah 54,33 (Baik) dan 101,33 (Sangat Baik), sedangkan penilaian siswa dan penilaian keterlaksanaan pembelajaran adalah 90,05 (Baik) dan 92,06 (Sangat Baik). (3) Aspek keefektifan berdasarkan THB, dengan rata-rata skor adalah 82% (siswa tuntas/lulus). Berdasarkan data tersebut, perangkat pembelajaran sudah memenuhi kualitas kevalidan keefektifan, dan kepraktisan. Oleh karena itu, perangkat pembelajaran geometri SMP dengan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan: (1) keefektifan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD, (2) keefektifan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI, dan (3) perbedaan keefektifan antara pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dibandingkan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI ditinjau dari aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika di kelas IV sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV SD Muhammadiyah Kleco Yogyakarta dengan tiga kelas pararel. Dua kelas ditentukan secara acak sebagai sampel dari tiga kelas yang ada. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD efektif ditinjau dari aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika. (2) Pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI efektif ditinjau dari aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika. (3) Tidak terdapat perbedaan keefektifan antara pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dibandingkan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI ditinjau dari aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika di kelas IV sekolah dasar.
