Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant health issue among the elderly and is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and other disorders. Factors such as unhealthy eating habits, lack of physical activity, stress, hormonal imbalance, and genetic predisposition significantly increase the risk of hypertension in the elderly. Integrated management, including regular blood pressure monitoring, appropriate pharmacological therapy, and an emphasis on healthy lifestyle changes, has proven to be effective in controlling and preventing complications of hypertension in the elderly population. The objectives of this activity are (1) to increase the knowledge and understanding of the community, especially the elderly, about hypertension and food management, and (2) to enhance the elderly's awareness of the importance of physical activity in maintaining their health. The results of the evaluation involving 20 participants showed an improvement in knowledge about hypertension, food management, and physical activity, and participants were motivated to prevent hypertension through proper food management and exercise.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the use of the Orlando Model in emergency psychiatric nursing through a narrative review. The Orlando model is a conceptual framework used in nursing practice to understand patient experience and provide more holistic care. In this study, we conducted a literature search across various databases and evaluated literature studies relevant to the use of the Orlando Model in emergency psychiatric nursing. The results of this narrative review show that the use of the Orlando Model in emergency psychiatric nursing can help nurses understand the patient experience holistically and provide more effective care. The Orlando model can assist nurses in identifying psychological and social problems underlying the patient's condition, as well as providing more individualized care and focusing on the patient's needs. In addition, the use of the Orlando Model can also improve communication between nurses and patients, thereby helping to build a better relationship between the two. However, there are some limitations in this literature study, such as the lack of a number of relevant studies and the limited variation in population and research settings. Therefore, further research is needed to confirm the findings from this literature study and evaluate the effectiveness of using the Orlando Model in emergency psychiatric nursing in a more comprehensive manner.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder that affects the emotional, cognitive, and social aspects of an individual, as well as the quality of life of patients. Conventional treatment is often inadequate to address the negative symptoms and cognitive deficits experienced by patients. Therefore, additional therapies such as aerobic exercise are gaining attention as non-pharmacological interventions that can improve treatment outcomes. Aerobic exercise has been shown to reduce negative symptoms, enhance cognitive function, and improve the quality of life for patients with schizophrenia. The underlying physiological mechanisms for these benefits include increased neuroplasticity, reduced inflammation, and elevated levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). However, a major challenge in implementing this therapy is the low adherence rates of patients to structured physical exercise programs. This study employs a literature review approach to analyze and summarize research related to the effects of aerobic exercise on patients with schizophrenia. The findings of this review indicate that aerobic exercise therapy, whether as a standalone intervention or in combination, provides significant benefits to the cognitive function of patients. Further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms and to enhance the application of this therapy in the clinical management of schizophrenia.
