Abstract

This study examines the impact of the Village Food Safety Movement (GKPD) program initiated by BPOM in improving the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of food safety cadres in stunting and non-stunting villages in North Sumatra. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the GKPD intervention on food safety understanding and practices among cadres. The method used was a retrospective analysis with data from pre-test and post-test surveys on cadre groups in six villages during the period January to December 2022. The results showed that there was a significant increase in cadres' knowledge on food safety, with an average increase in general knowledge from 26.5% to 57.4% after the intervention. In addition, attitudes and behavioral aspects also showed progress, although some areas such as food processor hygiene still require more attention. In conclusion, the GKPD program is effective in increasing cadres' awareness and ability to manage food safety, which is expected to contribute to food security at the village level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Hospital Health Promotion Program (PKRS) at an Islamic Hospital in Medan City. PKRS is an activity that focuses on promotive and preventive efforts to increase awareness, knowledge, and community participation in maintaining and improving health. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of PKRS officers. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of PKRS is carried out through two main approaches, namely direct and indirect promotion. Direct promotion is carried out through counseling activities, health lectures, and visits to various agencies, while indirect promotion is carried out through social media such as Instagram and Facebook to disseminate health information. Evaluation of activities is carried out routinely through activity reports, medical record data, and patient visits. The results of the study concluded that the implementation of PKRS at an Islamic Hospital in Medan City has been effective, supporting the improvement of service quality, and contributing to the achievement of hospital accreditation. This program also strengthens the positive image of the hospital as an institution oriented towards promotive and preventive efforts in health services.

Abstract

Occupational safety and health are closely related to employee performance, which can ensure the success of a company, as an efficient workplace environment directly influences employee performance. However, occupational safety and health issues in Indonesia have not received sufficient attention. This problem can be observed from the still high rate of workplace accidents in the country, particularly in the Pagar Merbau palm oil plantation. This study aims to determine the effect of occupational safety and health (OSH) on employee performance in the factory area of the Pagar Merbau Palm Oil Plantation. This a quantitative descriptive design with a survey approach using the total sampling method, involving all 60 factory employees as respondents. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The univariate analysis showed that the majority of employees assessed the implementation of OSH as good (93.3%), and most employees demonstrated good performance (86.7%). A simple linear regression analysis revealed that OSH had a significant effect on employee performance, with a significance value (p) = 0.000 and an R Square of 0.208, indicating that 20.8% of the variation in employee performance is explained by the OSH variable. Thus, proper implementation of OSH can significantly improve employee performance.

Abstract

Universal Health Coverage in Deli Serdang Regency has reached 98.6%. However, JKN participant activity and primary health care utilization in several areas remain below the national target. At UPT Puskesmas Batang Kuis, JKN utilization by participants has reached only 67.2% of total users. This study modifies Andersen’s theoretical model by incorporating contemporary digitalization indicators (use of the Mobile JKN application and digital queue system) within the knowledge assessment instrument. It aims to analyze factors associated with health service utilization among JKN participants. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design with 96 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using the chi-square test and binary logistic regression. Univariate analysis showed that 51.0% of respondents utilized health services. Individual assessment of the health center was the dominant factor (Exp(B)=13.741). Positive attitudes, family support, and good perceptions of facility quality were the main determinants, while knowledge alone was insufficient. Health centers should improve physical service quality, staff responsiveness, and medicine availability.

Abstract

The use of implant contraception as one of the Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) methods is still influenced by various perceptions among reproductive-age housewives. This study aimed to determine the perceptions of reproductive-age housewives regarding the use of implant contraception on Lokomotif Street, Melayu Village, North Siantar District. This study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The informants consisted of 12 participants, including 10 main informants and 2 key informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis with source triangulation. The results showed that perceptions toward implant contraception were generally positive, as implants were considered effective, practical, safe, and able to prevent pregnancy for a relatively long period. However, some informants expressed concerns about menstrual changes, weight gain, and the insertion process. These perceptions were influenced by internal factors, including knowledge, feelings, thoughts, experiences, perceived benefits, and expectations, as well as external factors such as health workers, husband support, social environment, family planning cadres, and social media. Health workers and family planning cadres are recommended to strengthen communication, information, and education (CIE) as well as counseling regarding the benefits, effectiveness, procedures, and possible side effects of implant contraception.
