Abstract

An elderly person is someone who has reached the age of 60 years and above. From a health perspective, the elderly will experience an aging process characterized by a decrease in physical endurance, making them susceptible to disease. Based on the problem of the elderly in Sidoarjo not understanding healthy lifestyles, how to manage medication has the potential to decrease the quality of life of the elderly. Therefore, it is necessary to empower the elderly through training to improve the quality of life of the elderly. This community service activity targets the category of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDGs 3, which is ensuring a healthy life and improving the welfare of all residents of all ages. The empowerment activity was carried out at the RW.07 Hall, Magersari Village, Sidoarjo District on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Attended by 90 elderly people. The activity began with morning exercise, providing material and demonstrations on making herbal medicine, providing material on infectious diseases (TB) and degenerative diseases (DM and hypertension), providing material on how to properly manage medication and ending with a post-test. The results of the activity showed that the elderly were very enthusiastic about participating in the entire series of activities. The increase in elderly knowledge was seen from the increase in post-test scores. The paired-sample statistical test results yielded a P-value of 0.000. Abstract

Bali is renowned as a tourist island rich in local wisdom, one of which is the traditional herbal remedy loloh cemcem from Penglipuran Village, Bangli Regency. This herbal drink has long been used to maintain health and alleviate internal heat. However, the loloh cemcem products produced by the local community still fall short of the standards for quality traditional medicine preparations, particularly in terms of product quality, packaging, and labeling. Through a community service initiative, activities such as observation, education, training, and mentoring were conducted for local entrepreneurs, focusing on proper selection of raw materials, hygienic production processes, safe packaging practices, accurate labeling of composition, and the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The training, attended by more than 20 participants from MSMEs and youth organizations (karang taruna), aimed to enhance public understanding of the benefits and importance of high-quality herbal products. It is hoped that loloh cemcem can evolve into a safe, high-quality, efficacious, and competitive traditional beverage. Furthermore, product innovation may serve as an alternative strategy for developing loloh cemcem preparations and expanding their recognition among the wider public.

Abstract

A series of N2-acyl salicylic hydrazides (S2-S6) and N-(substituted benzylidene) salicylic hydrazides (S7-S9) were synthesized from 2-hydroxybenzohydrazide (S1), using both microwave irradiation and conventional methods, and tested for its in vitro anticancer activity against human lung cancer cell, A549. The salicylic hydrazides were successfully synthesized in good yields (79–98%) and the in-vitro study results indicated that 3,4-dichloro-N'-(2-hydroxybenzoyl)benzohydrazide (S5) was most active among the tested compounds (IC50 value of 68.75 µM). In this work, we applied an integrated approach combining network pharmacology and computational analysis to explore how salicylic hydrazide derivatives affect tyrosine kinase–related pathways. The in-silico findings were in agreement with the in vitro results, indicating that compound S5 produced a docking score of –6.53468 kcal/mol. The findings of this research are expected to support further development toward identifying promising anticancer drug candidates derived from salicylic hydrazide derivatives.
