Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code di Pelabuhan Cirebon, dengan meninjau aspek organisasi keamanan, pelaksanaan prosedur operasional, serta ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana pendukung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap aktivitas keamanan di lingkungan pelabuhan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur organisasi keamanan telah dibentuk sesuai ketentuan ISPS Code, dengan peran aktif Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO), Company Security Officer (CSO), dan Port Security Committee (PSC). Di sisi operasional, kegiatan pemeriksaan dokumen, pemeriksaan individu dan barang, serta pelaksanaan drill telah dilaksanakan, namun evaluasi pasca latihan belum maksimal. Sarana pendukung seperti CCTV, X-ray, dan metal detector telah tersedia, tetapi masih terbatas dalam jangkauan dan pemeliharaan teknis. Koordinasi antar instansi, seperti KSOP, agen kapal, dan operator pelabuhan, masih berjalan secara parsial dan belum terintegrasi sepenuhnya. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan ISPS Code di Pelabuhan Cirebon telah memenuhi aspek minimum compliance, namun memerlukan penguatan dalam pelatihan SDM, pemeliharaan sarana, dan integrasi sistem keamanan antarinstansi.

Abstract

Bahasa Indonesia memiliki fungsi strategis sebagai alat pemersatu bangsa yang beragam suku, agama, dan budaya. Implementasi Bahasa Indonesia merujuk pada penerapan penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan masyarakat, baik secara lisan maupun tulisan, Namun, dalam masyarakat multikultural seperti Pulau Dom, Kota Sorong, penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia secara efektif masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan, khususnya di kalangan warga yang lebih terbiasa menggunakan bahasa daerah atau bahasa ibu. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menyegarkan pemahaman dan meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa Indonesia dalam kehidupan sosial masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, diskusi interaktif, serta pembuatan media literasi bahasa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya Bahasa Indonesia sebagai media komunikasi lintas budaya. Diharapkan kegiatan ini dapat mendorong terciptanya masyarakat yang lebih harmonis, inklusif, dan toleran melalui penguatan peran bahasa nasional.

Abstract

Gamified learning is widely recognized as an engaging instructional approach that can enhance students' motivation by incorporating elements of play, challenge, and reward. While motivation plays a crucial role in the learning process, it is important to examine whether it truly correlates with language competence, particularly in the context of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning.  This study aimed to examine the relationship between students’ learning motivation in gamified English learning and their English competence. The participants were 30 fifth-grade students (aged 10–12) from a private primary school in Indonesia, selected through total sampling. A quantitative correlational method was used, employing a motivation questionnaire based on Keller’s ARCS model (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction), and English achievement tests. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis. The results revealed a very strong and statistically significant positive correlation (r = .996, p < .01) between learning motivation and English competence. These findings suggest that maintaining high levels of student motivation through gamified learning strategies can significantly support academic success in language learning. This study contributes to the growing evidence that motivation is not only an emotional factor but a critical predictor of academic achievement.

Abstract

The role of PKK members is crucial in promoting health at the family and community levels in Indonesia. This community service project aimed to strengthen the role of 17 PKK members in Jomblangan Village through structured health education and empowerment training. Utilizing a participatory action approach, the program focused on five thematic areas: balanced nutrition, stunting prevention, hygiene and sanitation, maternal and child health, and home-based first aid. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, observation, and focus group discussions. The average knowledge score increased by 29%, and participants demonstrated behavioral changes such as improved dietary practices, regular growth monitoring, and proper hygiene habits. Qualitative data also revealed enhanced motivation and willingness to share knowledge within the community. The findings confirm that PKK members, when equipped with appropriate knowledge and skills, can become effective grassroots health promoters. The program proved effective, acceptable, and replicable, providing a scalable model for similar communities. Continuous mentoring and digital engagement are recommended for long-term sustainability.

Abstract

The low proficiency in the Indonesian language among residents of Kokoda Village serves as the primary background for this study, which is influenced by limited access to formal education and the complex socio-cultural context of the community. This research aims to measure the improvement in participants’ Indonesian language skills after engaging in a learning program designed with a contextual and participatory approach, as well as to understand the level of participant engagement throughout the program implementation. A quantitative descriptive method was employed, involving 45 participants as research subjects. Data were collected through tests assessing writing, reading, and speaking abilities in Indonesian. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data processing, data management, and result interpretation, to provide a comprehensive overview of participants’ skill development. The findings reveal significant improvements across all language skill areas: reading ability increased to an average of 72%, writing ability reached 80%, and speaking ability reached 69%. Additionally, participant engagement was high, with 84% consistently attending at least 75% of the learning sessions, indicating strong motivation fostered through an interactive learning approach that integrates local content. The study’s implications highlight the importance of implementing learning programs that are sensitive to socio-cultural contexts and empower local facilitators to enhance functional literacy in remote areas. This approach not only improves learning outcomes but also supports program sustainability by strengthening social and cultural bonds within the community. The research provides recommendations for the development of more responsive educational programs that address the specific needs and characteristics of indigenous communities in future initiatives

Abstract

Low student interest in reading English textbooks and limited access to quality reading materials hinder vocabulary acquisition and students' adaptability in global contexts. This study aims to analyze the influence of English textbooks on students' reading interest, vocabulary mastery, and critical thinking skills. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method. The sample consisted of 769 junior high school students selected randomly. The data were collected through a validated Likert-scale questionnaire (1–5) designed to measure students’ reading interest and vocabulary comprehension. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics with SPSS version 29.0 to identify patterns and trends. The results reveal that access to English books, both at home and at school, significantly contributes to increased reading interest and vocabulary understanding among students. The study concludes that the availability of engaging and level-appropriate English reading materials plays a critical role in supporting students’ global literacy. The implication is that improving the quality and accessibility of English books can enhance students’ academic and social development in response to the demands of the 21st century.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi praktik literasi digital dosen Bahasa Inggris Maritim di Politeknik Pelayaran Sorong. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh meningkatnya urgensi untuk mengintegrasikan perangkat digital dalam pengajaran English for Specific Purposes (ESP), khususnya dalam pendidikan kemaritiman. Meskipun urgensi tersebut tinggi, masih terdapat kesenjangan pemahaman mengenai bagaimana dosen memandang dan menerapkan literasi digital dalam konteks vokasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap pengalaman dosen dalam memilih perangkat digital, mengintegrasikannya ke dalam pedagogi, serta menghadapi dukungan maupun keterbatasan institusional. Pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dengan empat dosen Bahasa Inggris Maritim yang secara aktif menggunakan media digital dalam pengajarannya. Analisis tematik dilakukan dengan menggunakan kerangka kerja DigCompEdu dan Instructional Digital Literacy Model sebagai acuan konseptual. Penelitian menemukan bahwa para dosen menunjukkan beragam interpretasi dan penerapan literasi digital. Sebagian dosen secara kritis mengintegrasikan perangkat yang relevan untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan mahasiswa, sementara yang lain menggunakan sumber daya digital yang lebih sederhana karena keterbatasan pelatihan atau infrastruktur. Tantangan umum meliputi konektivitas internet yang tidak stabil, keterbatasan panduan institusional, serta ketiadaan program pengembangan profesional yang terstruktur. Meskipun demikian, para dosen menunjukkan motivasi yang kuat serta kesadaran akan pentingnya kompetensi digital untuk menyelaraskan pembelajaran dengan kebutuhan industri maritim. Penelitian ini menekankan perlunya dukungan institusional yang lebih terarah, termasuk pelatihan kontekstual dan pengembangan lingkungan pengajaran kolaboratif. Keterbatasan penelitian mencakup ukuran sampel yang kecil dan lingkup hanya pada satu institusi, sehingga dapat memengaruhi generalisasi temuan. Penelitian selanjutnya dapat diperluas dengan melakukan analisis komparatif lintas institusi atau wilayah.

Abstract

The increasing importance of English communication in today’s globalized world necessitates effective language learning strategies, especially in speaking. However, traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students and build their confidence in speaking. This study explores the role of technology in improving students' speaking skills in English language learning, focusing on tools such as speech recognition software, language exchange platforms, and interactive video conferencing. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study involved 120 undergraduate students in a quasi- experimental design with a control and an experimental group. The experimental group utilized digital tools for speaking practice, while the control group received traditional instruction. The results indicated significant improvements in fluency, pronunciation, and overall speaking confidence in the experimental group. Survey and observational data also showed higher levels of student engagement and motivation. The study concludes that integrating technology into English language teaching can effectively enhance speaking skills by providing immersive, interactive learning experiences that foster autonomy and confidence. These findings highlight the potential of technology to bridge gaps in traditional language learning approaches.

Abstract

Transportasi laut memegang peranan penting bagi konektivitas dan logistik nasional Indonesia, namun menghadapi tantangan besar dalam mewujudkan keberlanjutan operasional, efisiensi energi, dan kesejahteraan komunitas pesisir. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi sinergi antara inovasi teknologi dan pemberdayaan komunitas maritim sebagai pendekatan untuk membangun transportasi laut berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan campuran (mixed methods), mencakup analisis kuantitatif data operasional pelabuhan, simulasi optimasi rute, dan kajian kualitatif terhadap pemberdayaan komunitas pesisir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknologi seperti digitalisasi pelabuhan, sistem pemantauan real-time, dan manajemen rute berbasis data meningkatkan efisiensi operasional dan keselamatan pelayaran, sementara pemberdayaan komunitas nelayan berkontribusi pada peningkatan kesejahteraan ekonomi dan partisipasi sosial. Diskusi menegaskan bahwa sinergi teknologi dan komunitas merupakan kunci untuk mencapai transportasi laut yang inklusif, adaptif, dan ramah lingkungan. Kesimpulannya, keberhasilan pembangunan sektor ini memerlukan dukungan kebijakan berkelanjutan, kolaborasi multi-pihak, dan peningkatan kapasitas SDM maritim
