Abstract

Water management is one of the most challenging aspects of campus management. With a large number on campus population and limited water resources, water management is essential for achieving a resilient and healthy campus. In this paper, we explain two targets in UGM water management: water efficiency and water conservation. Both objectives are significantly related; however, each goal has a different approach to the method for the design approach and strategies in the implementations. Water efficiency is included in building new buildings and retrofitting the existing ones. Meanwhile, water conservation is implemented to calculate potential alternative water resources in UGM, including water treatment, to produce freshwater as an additional water supply. We also explain how water management is implemented in UGM from the highest Directorate to the lowest units. Through our method and best practices in UGM, we hope our paper could be a reference for other universities who want to implement a water management program.

Abstract

A green physical setting would need green behavior and culture to sustain and function properly. Education is a key component to form a sustainable mindset and lifestyle for society, especially youth. As a university with a vision to be a resilient and healthy campus, Universitas Gadjah Mada has actively involved in providing education for sustainable development. The activities have commenced since 2016 through Integrated Smart and Green Building research group and involve participants from both internal and external audiences. Internal target audiences were primarily freshman UGM students and later extended to include primary and high school students. External audiences were the government and stakeholders from the commercial sector. The program was designed to increase awareness on sustainable development and encourage everyone to take part to achieve its goals. Students were educated on the importance of sustainable lifestyle and expected to practice green behavior in their daily life. For stakeholders, a focus group discussion was organized to start a conversation for the formulation of green building regulation. There were observable immediate changes in cognitive and behavorial domain toward sustainable lifestyle. Sustainable development is a long term vision and it needs participation from everyone. Higher education as a center of knowledge should actively provide society with education to achieve sustainable development.

Abstract

Perlindungan atas keanekaragaman geologi, hayati dan budaya masih sering dilakukan secara random dan parsial tanpa memperhatikan azas tujuan dan kebermanfaatan bagi pembangunan ekonomi masyarakat holistik secara berkelanjutan. Tujuan analisis SWOT adalah mengidentifikasi variabel sekaligus analisis akar masalah yang dianggap sebagai penghambat konservasi dan arah pengembangan yang terintegrasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis parameter kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang dan ancaman diketahui adanya potensi ancaman bersifat sistemik yang dapat mempengaruhi peningkatan branding Kawasan Geopark Nasional Sawahlunto yaitu adanya ancaman krisis identitas, budaya dan pendidikan. Kearifan lokal dianggap sebagai nilai identitas moral dan spiritual yang lahir dari praktik tradisional mendalam dan oleh karena itu bersifat penting di dalam menjaga eksistensinya. Penguatan identitas, budaya dan pendidikan dapat diupayakan dengan memanfaatkan kemajuan sistem teknologi informasi dan pendidikan multikultural berbasis kearifan lokal di mana peluang tersebut dinilai sebagai strategi paling kuat yang dapat dipilih oleh pemerintah daerah dan masyarakat guna menjamin keberlangsungan Kawasan Geopark Nasional Sawahlunto sebagai warisan dunia. Sedangkan pengembangan penelitian yang mempertimbangkan kearifan lokal dinilai sebagai langkah konstruktif yang menjamin adanya peningkatan branding berkelanjutan serta dapat menempatkan Kawasan Geopark Nasional Sawahlunto yang lebih berdampak, perlindungan, unggul dan kompetitif bagi masyarakat global.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize a single-phase hydroxyapatite powder using waste chicken eggshells as a calcium source via the co-precipitation method. The process focuses on optimizing calcination time and temperature to achieve high-purity hydroxyapatite.  The co-precipitation procedure involved controlled pH adjustment and aging time, contributing to the formation of homogeneous particles. Chicken eggshells, predominantly composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), were calcined at 1000°C for 15 hours to produce calcium oxide (CaO). The resulting CaO was then reacted with phosphate ions in an aqueous solution, followed by a calcination at 900°C for varying holding times of 5 and 10 hours. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis were conducted to evaluate phase composition, crystal size, and texture properties. The optimum condition was found at 900 °C for 10 h calcination, resulting in single-phase hydroxyapatite, a crystallite size of 220 nm, an average pore radius of 6.78 nm, a total pore volume of 0.02 cc/g, a surface area of 6.38 m2/g, and an average particle radius of 213.89 nm. These findings highlight the potential of this method for producing bioceramics with desirable properties for use in bone grafts and other biomedical materials.

Abstract

Abstrak Pembelajaran kontekstual yang mengintegrasikan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan karakter masih jarang diterapkan secara optimal di tingkat sekolah dasar. SDIT Al-Munawwaroh Balikpapan sebagai mitra kegiatan memiliki semangat kuat dalam mendukung inovasi pembelajaran lingkungan, namun belum memiliki sarana praktik pertanian yang memadai. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk membangun Smart Hydroponic Greenhouse sebagai media pembelajaran aktif berbasis teknologi hidroponik yang ramah lingkungan dan mudah dioperasikan oleh siswa. Mitra kegiatan adalah SDIT Al-Munawwaroh yang memiliki 93 siswa dan 9 guru, dengan lokasi di Kelurahan Karang Joang, Kecamatan Balikpapan Utara, Kalimantan Timur. Metode pelaksanaan terdiri dari tiga tahap: survei dan perencanaan, pembangunan greenhouse dan instalasi sistem hidroponik metode NFT, serta pelatihan dan pendampingan siswa dalam praktik bercocok tanam, pemantauan pertumbuhan tanaman, dan panen. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan tingkat keberhasilan tumbuh tanaman di atas 90%, keterlibatan aktif seluruh siswa dalam praktik berkebun, serta integrasi kegiatan dengan pembelajaran di kelas. Guru menyatakan peningkatan minat dan pemahaman siswa terhadap sains dan lingkungan. Greenhouse ini juga menjadi sarana pembentukan karakter, khususnya tanggung jawab, kerja sama, dan kepedulian lingkungan. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa teknologi pertanian sederhana dapat diadopsi sebagai media pembelajaran yang efektif dan berkelanjutan di sekolah dasar, serta dapat direplikasi pada lembaga pendidikan serupa. Kata kunci: berkebun; greenhouse pintar; hidroponik; metode NFT; pendidikan dasar. Abstract Contextual learning that integrates science, technology, and character education is still rarely implemented effectively at the elementary school level. SDIT Al-Munawwaroh Balikpapan, as the partner institution, has shown strong enthusiasm for promoting environmental-based learning, yet lacks adequate facilities for practical agricultural education. This community service program aimed to establish a Smart Hydroponic Greenhouse as an active learning medium based on environmentally friendly hydroponic technology that is easy to operate by students. The partner, SDIT Al-Munawwaroh, consists of 93 students and 9 teachers and is located in Karang Joang Subdistrict, North Balikpapan District, East Kalimantan. The program was implemented in three stages: initial survey and planning, construction of the greenhouse and installation of the NFT-based hydroponic system, followed by training and mentoring of students and teachers in plant cultivation, growth monitoring, and harvesting. The results showed a plant growth success rate above 90%, active student involvement in gardening practices, and successful integration with classroom learning. Teachers observed increased student interest and understanding in science and environmental topics. The greenhouse also served as a character development platform, particularly in nurturing responsibility, cooperation, and environmental awareness. This program demonstrates that simple agricultural technology can be effectively adopted as a sustainable and replicable learning tool for primary education institutions. Keywords: gardening; smart greenhouse; hydroponics; NFT Method; primary education

Abstract

The hybrid concept that develops in urban community settlements in an unplaning manner has led to various forms of settlement patterns that are adapted to social, economic and environmental conditions. This hybridity condition is potential for more innovative settlement consolidation efforts. This research was conducted to examine the quality of the hybridity formed in urban village settlements in Sindulang Satu Village, Manado, and to find the consolidation principle of settlement patterns by developing hybridity values at the site location. The quality of the hybridity was examined based on the perspective of programming hybrid, operational hybrid and spatial hybrid. This study used a qualitative research method, with modeling and experimental simulation technique approach. The analysis of settlement space performance was done by statistical calculations and graphical analysis using space syntax method. The research data was obtained using questionnaire, interviews and observations methods of samples that met the criteria of purposive sampling. The results of this study showed the potential of the hybridity in site locations with good quality, so that it became a consideration in formulating the principle of settlement pattern consolidation to increase site hybridity.

Abstract

Abstrak Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dan minat belajar siswa melalui pendampingan ekstrakurikuler berbasis STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) di SDIT Al-Munawwaroh Balikpapan. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra adalah kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang tersedia masih didominasi aktivitas fisik seperti olahraga dan pramuka, sementara kegiatan berbasis sains dan teknologi belum dikembangkan secara sistematis. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan alternatif pembelajaran yang menyenangkan sekaligus aplikatif bagi siswa sekolah dasar melalui eksperimen sederhana berbasis STEM. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi program kepada sekolah, penyusunan modul eksperimen, pendampingan dan praktikum langsung oleh tim kepada 93 siswa kelas 1–6, serta refleksi hasil bersama guru. Topik eksperimen meliputi gaya apung, bangun ruang, filtrasi air, mobil balon, lava lamp, roket air, dan hidroponik. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi partisipasi siswa, kemampuan menjelaskan kembali konsep, serta wawancara dengan guru. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan partisipasi aktif siswa hingga 85%, kemampuan menjelaskan konsep sains sebesar 72%, serta penguatan softskill seperti kerjasama dan komunikasi ilmiah. Program ini efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa, sekaligus memberikan nilai tambah bagi sekolah dalam diversifikasi kegiatan ekstrakurikuler. Kegiatan ini dapat dijadikan model alternatif pembelajaran kontekstual berbasis praktik untuk sekolah dasar lainnya. Kata kunci: STEM; eksperimen sederhana; ekstrakurikuler; sekolah dasar; literasi sains. Abstract This community service activity aims to improve scientific literacy and student learning interest through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)-based extracurricular mentoring at SDIT Al-Munawwaroh Balikpapan. The problem faced by the partners is that available extracurricular activities are still dominated by physical activities such as sports and scouts, while science and technology-based activities have not been systematically developed. The purpose of this activity is to provide an alternative learning that is fun and applicable for elementary school students through simple STEM-based experiments. The methods used include program socialization to schools, preparation of experimental modules, mentoring and direct practicums by the team for 93 students in grades 1–6, and reflection on the results with teachers. Experiment topics include buoyancy, geometric shapes, water filtration, balloon cars, lava lamps, water rockets, and hydroponics. Evaluation was carried out through observation of student participation, the ability to re-explain concepts, and interviews with teachers. The results showed an increase in active student participation of up to 85%, the ability to explain scientific concepts by 72%, and strengthening soft skills such as collaboration and scientific communication. This program is effective in improving students' science process skills, while also providing added value to the school by diversifying extracurricular activities. This activity can be used as an alternative model for practice-based contextual learning for other elementary schools. Keywords: STEM; simple experiments; extracurricular; elementary school; science literacy.

Abstract

Gender merupakan konsep klasifikasi sifat maskulin (laki-laki) dan feminim(perempuan) yang dibentuk oleh sosio kultur, pendapat ini sejalan dengan pendapat pada umumnya kaum feminis yang berpendapat bahwa gender merupakan ketentuan masyarakat mengenai seseorang yang lahir dengan sifat kelaki-lakian (maskulin) atau sifat keperempuanan (feminis) adalah termasuk dari bidang kajian gender. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah menganalisis peran pendidikan terhadap pembangunan gender di Provinsi Papua. Model analisis yang digunakan adalah penel data dengan pendekatan Fixed Effect Model (FEM) atau Least Square Dummy Variable (LSDV) model, dengan menggunakan data time series selama lima tahun (2017-2021) dan data cross section sebanyak 29 Kabupaten/Kota di Provinsi Papua. Dengan LSDV model diharapkan dapat memperoleh hasil estimasi yang lebih efisien. Hal ini dikarenakan tingginya jumlah observasi yang memiliki implikasi pada data yang lebih informatif, lebih variatif, dan peningkatan derajat bebas (df). Hasil Estimasi data menggunakan analisis regresi berganda secara parsial menunjukkan bahwa Harapan Lama Sekolah (HLS) dan Pengeluaran Per Kapita disesuaikan Perempuan (PPKP) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Indeks Pembangunan Gender (IPG) menurut Kabupaten/Kota di Provinsi Papua dan Variabel Rata-Rata Lama Sekolah (RLS) secara parsial menunjukan tidak signifikan Terhadap Indeks Pembangunan Gender (IPG) menurut Kabupaten/Kota di Provinsi Papua. Sedangkan hasil analisis regresi berganda secara simultan menunjukkan bahwa variabel Harapan Lama Sekolah (HLS), Rata-Rata lama Sekolah (RLS) dan Pengeluaran Per Kapita Disesuaikan Perempuan (PPKP) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Indeks Pembangunan Gender (IPG) menurut Kabupaten/Kota di Provinsi Papua

Abstract

The Study aims to examine and analyzes the effect of competence and organizational commitmen at PT. Success of Maritime Logistics Surabaya. The sampling techniques used in this research is saturated sampling (Census), with a total sampel of 35 respondent. The analiysis technique used in this research is multiple linears regressions analysis technique. Abstract

The development of information and communication technology, especially through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) innovations, has had a major impact on many sectors, including the world of accounting. Economic digitalization, which is part of the preparations towards Society 5.0, requires the accounting profession to adapt to various new technologies that can increase efficiency and accuracy in the accounting process. This research aims to explore the role of accountants in facing the digital era and Society 5.0 and examine how the integration of AI and IoT can be applied in accounting practice. The method used is a qualitative method with a literature study approach and interviews with accounting practitioners and technology experts. The research results show that accountants need to increase their competence in understanding and utilizing AI and IoT to optimize accounting performance and provide added value in the organization. In facing Society 5.0, accountants are expected to become agents of change who not only manage financial information, but can also manage big data and new technology to create smarter and data-based decisions.
