Abstract

Abstract

One of the typical Balinese culinary tours is Pig Rollers. The process of making pig guling still on human power in the rolling process by doing a continuous circular motion. This study aims to determine the decrease in fatigue, musculoskeletal complaints, heat radiation, and increase in productivity before and after treatment of pig roller workers due to the application of ergonomics applications in the form of repairing work stations. The method used in this study is an experimental (true experimental) with the same subject design (treatment by subject design) and a randomized pre and post-test group design pattern of variables in the form of worker fatigue which is recorded with a 30 Items of Rating Scale of General Fatigue questionnaire; musculoskeletal complaints of workers who were recorded with the Nordic Body Map questionnaire; heat radiation measured with 4ch K Thermometer SD Logger; and the productivity of pig rolling workers is assessed based on the output (weight of the product produced) divided by the input (work pulse) multiplied by time (time). Measurements were carried out before and after working in Period I and Period II on 12 samples for 1 month. The data obtained will be analyzed by paired t-tests at a significance level of 5%. The results showed that there were significant differences (p<0.05) in workload, fatigue, musculoskeletal complaints, heat radiation, and work productivity in Period I and Period II. Ergonomics application in the form of work station improvement reduces workload by 10.22%, fatigue by 13.46%, musculoskeletal complaints by 33.61%, heat radiation by 11.81%, and increases productivity by 78.50%. It can be concluded that the application of ergonomics in the form of repairing work stations can reduce workload, fatigue, musculoskeletal complaints, and radiation, and increase the productivity of pig rolling workers in Peliatan Village, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali.

Abstract

Sport is a structured and planned physical activity aimed at improving fitness and overall health. One rapidly growing discipline is rock climbing, particularly in the speed category. This high-intensity anaerobic activity often causes muscle fatigue, elevated blood lactate, and increased recovery heart rate. Excessive lactate accumulation disrupts recovery and may impair performance, making effective recovery methods essential. Two commonly used techniques are Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching and cold water immersion, or ice bath. This study compared the effectiveness of PNF stretching and ice bath in reducing blood lactate and recovery heart rate among rock climbing athletes in Denpasar City. A quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test design was conducted on three groups: PNF stretching (n=6), ice bath (n=6), and control (n=6). Interventions were performed twice weekly for two weeks. Blood lactate levels were measured with the Lactate Scout, while recovery heart rate was recorded manually at one and five minutes post-exercise. Results indicated that both PNF stretching and ice bath significantly reduced blood lactate (p<0.05) compared to control, but the ice bath produced greater and more consistent reductions. For recovery heart rate, no significant differences were found between groups (p>0.05). However, the ice bath group displayed a more favorable downward trend, suggesting potential clinical relevance. PNF stretching did not significantly affect heart rate recovery compared to ice bath or control but still demonstrated positive recovery effects. In conclusion, the ice bath method proved more effective than PNF stretching in reducing blood lactate, making it a recommended recovery strategy for speed climbing athletes. PNF stretching remains valuable for flexibility and muscular relaxation and may be best applied alongside other recovery methods. Future studies should investigate long-term outcomes, varied immersion protocols, and larger athlete populations to enhance generalizability

Abstract

This study discusses the health benefits of the content of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) seed extract. Google Scholar, Research Gate, and Mendeley were used as the search engine. The keywords were Passiflora edulis, passion fruit seed, antioxidant, and piceatannol. The benefits of passion fruit seed extract were analyzed from 21 articles. Twenty-one articles are used to demonstrate the health benefits of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) seeds. The study's conclusions indicate that passion fruits may have anti-photoaging, anti-inflammatory, heart, liver, and kidney protective properties. They may also help treat skin conditions like striae distensae and acne vulgaris, as well as have anti-obesity, anti-hypertensive, anti-diabetic, anti-tumor, and anti-cancer properties. It is suggested where future research should go to improve the use of products made with passion fruits. It is hoped that more studies on the health benefits of passion fruit will be carried out using age-specific criteria, a larger sample size, and gender parity. Further prospective research is needed

Abstract

Mechanical neck pain is a common condition among employees who perform static tasks in non-ergonomic postures while using digital devices, potentially leading to pain, disability, and reduced work productivity. The purpose of this study to prove that deep cervical flexion exercise with pressure biofeedback is more effective than muscle energy technique in reducing neck pain and disability in mechanical neck pain conditions of digital creative employees. This study is a true experiment with pre-test and post-test two group design. The subjects of the study were 24 people who were randomly divided into two groups. Group 1 (n=12) received deep cervical flexion exercise with pressure biofeedback, while group 2 (n=12) received muscle energy technique. Pain intensity was measured using the numeric pain rating scale and neck disability was assessed using the neck disability index. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant reduction in pain and disability in both groups (p=0.001; p<0.05). The independent sample t-test confirmed significant differences between the groups (p<0.05), with group 1 showing a greater percentage reduction in both pain (68.40%) and disability (55.48%) compared to group 2 (44% and 30.55%). In conclusion, deep cervical flexion exercise with pressure biofeedback showed greater improvement compared to muscle energy technique in reducing neck pain and disability in mechanical neck pain conditions of digital creative employees. Although limited by age differences between groups as a potential confounding factor, the findings remain applicable to workers with prolonged static and non-ergonomic postures.
